Suicide is one of the leading causes of death for first responders and veterans. They have seen too much evil in the world and not enough good. Making matters worse, they are often portrayed as villains instead of heroes. Stephen Anthony, an Army and National Guard veteran and longtime police officer, explores why suicide is so prevalent among first responders and veterans – and what we can do to give them hope. Learn how to: • encourage the public to view first responders and veterans favorably; • get those considering suicide to seek help; • Overcome problems by relying on faith in God; • see the world through the eyes of someone considering suicide. For sixteen years, the author talked people out of killing themselves – until one day, God had to talk him out of doing to himself what no criminal had been able to achieve. Get answers to why so many first responders and veterans consider and commit suicide – and learn how to save a friend, a loved one, or even yourself.
Stephen Anthony's new novel, Twelve Good Years: A Retired Chef's (mis)Adventures in Mexico tells the story of a retired Los Angeles chef who decides to pursue a new life in Mexico, not long after the death of his wife. He leaves behind the daily grind, the house in the suburbs, and most of his worldly possessions and embarks on a life changing journey. Packing up his old truck, he heads down to Mexico with his faithful dog to join his good friend Paul, who years earlier had left Los Angeles to live in a seaside village not far from Puerto Vallarta. Thus begins the wonderful adventures of David, and his encounters with the colorful characters he meets 'south of the border. Not everything that happens to David and his new friends are as idyllic as one might dream, but it is a realistic and compelling story, partly inspired by the real-life adventures of the author's grandfather, who was an active traveler and sport fisherman. In a genuine and approachable writing style, Twelve Good Years captures the sense of new friends, new places, and new opportunities, as well as a closer connection with nature, that people dream of when they consider swapping their current hectic lifestyle in the modern world, for a simpler, more relaxed life in an exotic locale.
The so-called 'Antioch Incident' - the confrontation between the apostles Peter and Paul in Galatians 2.11-21 - continues to be a source of controversy in both scholarly and popular estimations of the emergence of the early Church and the development of Pauline theology. Paul and the Crucified Christ in Antioch offers an interesting interpretation of Paul's account of and response to this event, creatively combining historical reconstruction, detailed exegesis, and theological reflection. S. A. Cummins argues that the nature and significance of the central issue at stake in Antioch - whether the Torah or Jesus Christ determines who are the people of God - gains great clarity and force when viewed in relation to a Maccabean martyr model of Judaism as now christologically reconfigured and redeployed in the life and ministry of the apostle Paul.
Their story is a love story, but it also asks questions about the impact of early life trauma, the degree to which this travels with us down the years and the impact it can have on our relationship with others and the wider world.

Philosophy has long embraced epistemology as one of its central elements. What is knowledge? How do we gain it? Can we gain it? Or do we always deceive ourselves when thinking that we have knowledge? Are we too deeply fallible ever to know something? For centuries, these questions have helped to define and motivate epistemological research. This volume engages strikingly with them, offering some unusual answers. Stephen Hetherington's prominent career within epistemology has been a series of bold, varied and provocative arguments and ideas. Bringing together some elements of his unique body of writing for the first time, this collection features previously published as well as new material displaying and extending some of his highly original approaches to key issues including knowledge, justification, fallibility, scepticism and the Gettier Problem. Advancing our understanding of the systemic nature of Hetherington's thinking, Stephen Hetherington on Epistemology presents his distinctive perspective on some of philosophy's central questions about knowledge an inviting blend of forensic detail and 'big picture' proposals.

Steve Hawk and his wife Marta are living a dream life in a villa in the Virgin Islands, under the U, S, Witness Protection Program, The reason for being in this program is that Marta's brother Hugo, who is a despotic head of a major drug cartel, has placed a hit on them with a large bounty. He is seeking revenge for a drug war that he believes that they started as well as escaping Columbia with a fortune, that he perceived belongs to him. They believe that they are safe from him in the Witness Protection Program, but there is one huge if in their life. Their one concern is that if he finds them they are likely to be killed. So their dream life could quickly change into a nightmare, and it does. Steve believes that he has to use his past experiences and friends, from his special ops days, to put a stop to their hiding. He concludes that the only way to stop Hugo is to disable his cartel by eliminating Hugo and the entire operation. He begins a personal vendetta against Hugo, that leads to dangerous actions across three countries, where he finds himself to be the prey as well as the hunter. It becomes a race as to who kills whom first.
