Life is all about being successful and happy. Many of us have everything and yet find the real happiness missing. We are constantly in pursuit of that joy which has eluded us forever, thus far. When we realize our true nature and origin, it enables our progression towards attaining a happy and fearless state in life. Each one of us is a divine Soul; unborn, unchanging, immutable and eternal; an inseparable potency of that Supreme God, who dwells in us eternally. Though each one of us has the potential to experience a divine existence, being immortals, we have chosen to take birth in this mortal world; taking birth to die and dying to take birth again, in some 8.4 million bodies. There is a mismatch in what is happening to us. We are immortals, but the bodies we acquire in this world are not. We can attain the divine, eternal world of God, if we realize our imperishable relationship with God, who alone can grant us the state we all seek. With that realization, we can transcend causes and effects of this karmic world, overcoming grief and pain. We not only achieve material success, but also live a useful life, for the self, for our families and for the society.

When Rajaraja Chola ascended the throne, the land of Tamils entered upon centuries of grandeur. He left behind a stupendous legacy, which has not lost its sheen even after a thousand years. During his regime, we see powerful productive forces at work, newly liberated by the advances made in manufacturing and trade. Through interesting facts and riveting analyses, the reader can vividly experience the tumultuous developments of this perioud. It bring to life the social, political and economic underpinnings of that time - expansion of agriculture, rise of nagarams, maturing of self-governing corporate bodies, phenomenal increase in inland and overseas trade networks, and overall strengthening of the administrative and military apparatus, which would later bring South-east Asia under its influence. Equally important to the stability of the empire was the compelling iconography of Saivism, which this book presents in a sublime and engrossing style. Written by Raghavan Srinivasan, the author of Yugantar, this book recreates the history of a South Indian king and his imperial empire, in a form that would appeal to the academia and the wider public audience alike. "A rousing attempt at piecing together the lives and times of the Tamil country's most remarkable medieval personality, Rajaraja Chola, who despite the rich artistic legacy, plethora of inscriptions and maritime amnbtions, has remained an enigmatic figure." - SHARADA SRINIVASAM, Professor, School of Humanities, National Institute of Advanced Studies.
In the wake of the 2008–09 global financial crisis, central banking and monetary policy in many corners of the world came under intense pressure and entered unchartered waters. The breadth and scale of central bank operations have been modified or expanded in unprecedented and even unimaginable ways given the circumstances. Additionally, a fundamental rethinking of central banking and its policy frameworks has been taking place. This volume reflects a multilateral effort to help close the gap in our knowledge in meeting the critical challenges presented by these significant changes, in particular, those confronting central banks in Latin America. The volume’s first section provides a panoramic overview of the policy progress made to date and the challenges that lie ahead. The related issue of spillovers and monetary independence is taken up more fully in the next section. The final section presents chapters that reexamine macroprudential and monetary policies and policy frameworks from the perspective of central bank staff members from the region.
There have been new developments in experimental techniques for preparing and characterizing materials and for measuring their properties. These techniques are not being taught to students at the master's or even doctoral levels because there is no single book which deals with all these techniques at a basic level. The present book is an attempt to overcome this problem. The book is divided into five sections: (1) Techniques for preparing materials in the bulk, nanoscale and thin film forms; (2) Techniques for characterizing materials like X ray and neutron powder diffraction, ESCA, Ellipsometry for thin films, Ultrasonic techniques, Electron microscopy, Surface probe techniques and Positron annihilation for defect studies; (3) Techniques for measurements, at research level, of the elastic, thermal, electrical, dielectric and magnetic properties; (4) Spectroscopic techniques such as NMR-EPR spectroscopy, IR, Visible-UV spectroscopy and Mossbauer spectroscopy and (5) Phase transitions. In each of the above topics the basic principles are clearly laid out, the experimental set-ups are described, and typical examples are cited to illustrate the physics revealed by these techniques. The book can be used for a two-semester course on experimental techniques in physics and materials science at the master's and pre-doctoral degree levels for students.
1962 was a watershed moment in Sino-Indian Relations. Did China’s unilateral ceasefire and withdrawal result from its internal political compulsions? Is China using India to steady its political boat in internal turbulent weather? Did China agree to withdraw from Galwan merely due to India’s offensive posture? How did China go about building its aircraft carriers and how does it use artificial islands and villages to surreptitiously lay claim to sovereignty? How will the cashless trap that China is casting engulf the world? These and many such questions are critically looked at in the essays contained in this book. Stepping aside from the contemporary outlook and adopting a historical and methodical approach, the essays provide perspectives that are critical to understanding the Dragon, its compulsions, aspirations and outreach. Each essay relies on source material that render the analysis and argument substantial value, enabling a comprehensive appreciation of Chinese intent. China has always held the attention of the world historically. In the prevailing geopolitical environment, it continues to occupy scholarly interest across the world on account of its economic performance, outreach through Belt and Road Initiative and its perceived designs for dominance in world affairs. Since becoming Peoples Republic of China (PRC) under Chairman Mao, China generally remained in the periphery of world affairs for some time. However, with the disintegration of USSR and the onset of globalization, it has emerged as a dominant force militarily, economically and politically – a force that the rest of the world apparently cannot live without. Tracing China’s engagements with India and the rest of the world, its internal political compulsions and the means through which it has chartered its course through turbulent world affairs, this book evaluates China’s intentions and strategies to become what it has become today.

After losing his other parent at the age of 15 and tossed from one school to another and later from one job to another, he finally finds his home in the historic, but rapidly modernising city of Madras. Disgusted with the Endowment Department’s collusion with an artefact thief in his first job as a Temple Inspector, he shifts to a job as a Tea Salesman in a multinational company in Madras. The artefact thief happens to be Sankar, his childhood nemesis. Gaining insight from his earlier encounters with Sankar, Raju’s keen mind takes him into the dangerous realm of international antique and gold smugglers. His first mentor, Natarajan, guides him in his risky endeavours to put Sankar behind bars. It will take a lot of innovation and tenacity for Raju to make a breakthrough in the investigations. While one part of him is a daring investigator, the other part is a loving husband and father, a hard working employee and a caring friend to his other childhood friends, the communist-minded Sekar and the fickle Ganesan. The main storyline has two parallel narratives. The first is related to the growth of Madras and the other with the behind-the-scenes twists and turns in Tamilnadu
