Akos is a happy teenager living with her family in a fishing village. When her father drowns trying to save another man's life, everything changes and she is sent to be a housemaid in Accra. When a local man, Mr Ewusi, teases her about ghosts, she has nightmares about the ghost of her father. Mr Ewusi later repents his words and decides to help pay for her to go to school.
