This book covers substantially the central ideas of a one semester course in automata theory. It is oriented towards a mathematical perspective that is understandable to non-mathematicians. Comprehension is greatly aided by many examples, especially on the Chomsky — Schützenberger theorem, which is not found in most books in this field. Special attention is given to semiautomata theory: the relationship between semigroups and sequential machines (including Green's relations), Schützenberger's maximal subgroup, von Neumann inverses, wreath products, transducers using matrix notation, shuffle and Kronecker shuffle products. Methods of formal power series, the ambiguity index and linear languages are discussed. Core material includes finite state automata, regular expressions, Kleene's theorem, Chomsky's hierarchy and transformations of grammars. Ambiguous grammars (not limited to context-free grammars) and modal logics are briefly discussed. Turing machine variants with many examples, pushdown automata and their state transition diagrams and parsers, linear-bounded automata/2-PDA and Kuroda normal form are also discussed. A brief study of Lindenmeyer systems is offered as a comparison to the theory of Chomsky.

The main properties that make carbon nanotubes (CNTs) a promising technology for many future applications are: extremely high strength, low mass density, linear elastic behavior, almost perfect geometrical structure, and nanometer scale structure. Also, CNTs can conduct electricity better than copper and transmit heat better than diamonds. Therefore, they are bound to find a wide, and possibly revolutionary use in all fields of engineering. The interest in CNTs and their potential use in a wide range of commercial applications; such as nanoelectronics, quantum wire interconnects, field emission devices, composites, chemical sensors, biosensors, detectors, etc.; have rapidly increased in the last two decades. However, the performance of any CNT-based nanostructure is dependent on the mechanical properties of constituent CNTs. Therefore, it is crucial to know the mechanical behavior of individual CNTs such as their vibration frequencies, buckling loads, and deformations under different loadings. This title is dedicated to the vibration, buckling and impact behavior of CNTs, along with theory for carbon nanosensors, like the Bubnov-Galerkin and the Petrov-Galerkin methods, the Bresse-Timoshenko and the Donnell shell theory.

Weiterhin findet das Design und die Evaluation einer digitalen kollaborativen Lern- und Qualifizierungsplattform zur Co-Creation von situiertem arbeitsprozessbezogenem Lernmaterial im privaten Sektor statt. Schließlich werden geeignete Dienstleistungsmessmodelle zur Qualitätsbestimmung erarbeitet. Dabei trägt die Dissertation mit dem systematischen Co-Creation Einreichungsprozess durch die Anwendung von strukturellem Empowerment zur Unter stützung des Einzelnen bei. Die aus einem Top-down und Bottom-up Ansatz kombinierte Co-Creation Plattform stellt eine Theorie der Gestaltung und des Handelns dar. Zusätzlich werden konkrete Designprinzipien zur Entwicklung des Co Creation Systems bereitgestellt.

Autonomous self-driving cars need a very precise perception system of their environment, working for every conceivable scenario. Therefore, different kinds of sensor types, such as lidar scanners, are in use. This thesis contributes highly efficient algorithms for 3D object recognition to the scientific community. It provides a Deep Neural Network with specific layers and a novel loss to safely localize and estimate the orientation of objects from point clouds originating from lidar sensors. First, a single-shot 3D object detector is developed that outputs dense predictions in only one forward pass. Next, this detector is refined by fusing complementary semantic features from cameras and joint probabilistic tracking to stabilize predictions and filter outliers. The last part presents an evaluation of data from automotive-grade lidar scanners. A Generative Adversarial Network is also being developed as an alternative for target-specific artificial data generation.
