Each chapter begins and ends with scriptural truths to enlighten and encourage those struggling with: compulsive or addictive behavior, dependency agents, codependency, denial, isolation, or rejection. Many are stuck in their beliefs, history, traditions and lifestyle. Regrettably, many will die never knowing true freedom. This book offers reassurance for believers and nonbelievers that Emmanuel, God with us, can and will save us from ourselves and our bondage. Allow this book to help you learn of Him as you journey.

Shirley was born in the hill country near West Union, Ohio (Adams County). Soon after she was born, her dad was called to serve in World War II. When he came home from the war, they started to move north to find job opportunities. They started at Hillsboro; then to Xenia; and finally to Christiansburg, where her dad retired. He was a farmer, and he loved it. When she was nine, her family started singing and sang all over Ohio and the surrounding states. In her travels, she met up with a young preacher and singer named Raymond McDaniel Jr. Her friends all told her he was not good enough for her. But ignoring everyone's advice after she graduated from high school, a few months later, she eloped with him to Sparta, North Carolina. Even under stress from her family and friends, she started a new life singing in evangelism with Ray for five years. He then took a church to pastor and pastored for fifty years at the East Columbus Community Church of Christ in Christian Union. She took care of Ray at home when he took sick and suffered from dementia until he died. They were married for fifty-seven years. From the beginning, God certainly had a purpose for this young girl's life and used her to make a difference in the lives around her.

When the Centurion and a squadron of six vessels and 1,959 men and boys set out from England in 1740, on a round-the-world expedition, they were unaware of the terrifying events that awaited them in the days ahead. The squadron, under the command of Commodore George Anson, had departed from England with every hope of a successful mission to harass and take prizes in the Spanish possessions of the Americas and in Asia. The journey proved more challenging than anticipated, and at times, it seemed nightmarish and beyond anything experienced by the crew. The ship survived two huge waves and a lightning strike. Then, there was the great loss of life amongst the crew who perished due to the devastating symptoms of scurvy. Despite these setbacks, there were moments of pure joy, especially when the Centurion captured the fabulously wealthy Manila-Acapulco Galleon in the Philippines, the Nuestra Senora de Covadonga. Throughout the Centurion's career as a royal naval warship in the eighteenth century, she played a role in the capture of Quebec during the French and Indian War and the invasion of Havana in the Seven Years War. She was also instrumental when dealing with the Barbary Corsairs of Algeria and Morocco. Amongst the famous men who sailed on this vessel were John Harrison, the inventor of the first maritime sea clock, and Joshua Reynolds, the celebrated portrait painter. The details of the journeys to the Americas, Asia, and Europe are described in this biographical-travelogue of the Centurion.

In this lighthearted Regency romance, love and laughter mingle with secrets and intrigue. A slow burn, strangers-to-friends-to-lovers story with more humor than heat, just a little too naughty to call it sweet. Author's note: This story does not follow the current trend of the hero and heroine meeting in the first scene. Or even the first chapter. But when they do meet… well, I wrote the entire story around that scene. Heat level: 3/10
