With this new edition, the book has evolved from "Concise Guide" to "Clinical Manual" and offers the expanded coverage and features healthcare providers need to keep up with this critical field. The book is well organized, with major sections on metabolism; cytochrome P450 enzymes; drug interactions by medical specialty; and practical matters, such as the medicolegal implications of drug-drug interactions and how to retrieve and review the literature. In the section on P450 enzymes, each chapter addresses what the individual enzyme does and where, its polymorphisms, and drugs that inhibit or induce activity. Each chapter also includes extensive references and study cases to help the reader understand and contextualize the information. A number of additional features enhance the book's scope and utility: The book boasts the very latest information in the area of drug metabolism, transport, and interaction. The chapter on P-glycoprotein (a drug transporter) was expanded from the last edition to include a broader array of transport mechanisms. The highest ethical standard was adhered to in the development of this volume, which was not supported in any way by pharmaceutical makers or distributors. All eight contributors to this excellent resource are experts in the fields they have addressed, and clinicians can trust that the information contained in the Manual reflects the very latest research. Lizards and snakes (squamate reptiles) are the most diverse vertebrate group in Australia, with approximately 1000 described species, representing about 10% of the global squamate diversity. Squamates are a vital part of the Australian ecosystem, but their conservation has been hindered by a lack of knowledge of their diversity, distribution, biology and key threats. The Action Plan for Australian Lizards and Snakes 2017 provides the first comprehensive assessment of the conservation status of Australian squamates in 25 years. Conservation assessments are provided for 986 species of Australian lizards and snakes (including sea snakes). Over the past 25 years there has been a substantial increase in the number of species and families recognised within Australia. There has also been an increase in the range and magnitude of threatening processes with the potential to impact squamates. This has resulted in an increase in the proportion of the Australian squamate fauna that is considered Threatened. Notably over this period, the first known extinction (post-European settlement) of an Australian reptile species occurred – an indication of the increasingly urgent need for better knowledge and management of this fauna. Six key recommendations are presented to improve the conservation management and plight of Australian squamates. This Action Plan represents an essential resource for research scientists, conservation biologists, conservation managers, environmental consultants, policy makers from Commonwealth and State/Territory governments, and the herpetological community.

Previous works on Confederate brigadier general Harry T. Hays's First Louisiana Brigade -- better known as the "Louisiana Tigers" -- have tended to focus on just one day of the Tigers' service -- their role in attacking East Cemetery Hill at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863 -- and have touched only lightly on the brigade's role at the Second Battle of Winchester, an important prelude to Gettysburg. In this commanding study, Scott L. Mingus, Sr., offers the first significant detailed exploration of the Louisiana Tigers during the entirety of the 1863 Gettysburg Campaign. Mingus begins by providing a sweeping history of the Louisiana Tigers; their predecessors, Wheat's Tigers; the organizational structure and leadership of the brigade in 1863; and the personnel that made up its ranks. Covering the Tigers' movements and battle actions in depth, he then turns to the brigade's march into the Shenandoah Valley and the Tigers' key role in defeating the Federal army at the Second Battle of Winchester.
