At a time when businesses stare at unprecedented uncertainty, the SAIL turnaround story brings to us lessons of how companies can make miracles happen. Making the Elephant Dance talks about how the greatest business challenges can become the harbinger of the biggest corporate transformations, and how leadership can be the key influencer when companies face existential threats. The economic reforms of 1991 transformed the Indian steel industry overnight from the most controlled to most open. This book is a narrative of the steel mammoth, SAIL, which fought back an existential threat to emerge as a winner when a combination of domestic and global factors plunged the industry into its worst ever crisis. The book delineates its in-house strategies, implementation challenges and the actions undertaken to bring about an unprecedented organizational transformation by those who participated, experienced and lived it.

The dung beetle fauna richness are very high in tropical regions of the world, mainly, the African and South-East Asian regions. Dung beetle occur throughout the world (except Antarctica) comprising approximately 7000 species. The dung beetles (scarabaeoid) are a member of the order Coleoptera. Scarabaeidae is one of the taxonomically richest group of beetles with many representatives worldwide among the coleopteran families. Scarabaeidae, family of dung beetle in India includes the subfamilies like, Scarabaeinae, Aphodiinae, Geotrupinae, Hybosorinae, Orphininae, Chironinae and Dynamopinae. Dung beetles measure from 3 to 70 mm long and usually are brown or black; sometimes they have a metallic luster. The name (dung-beetles) has been earned by them through their most universal utilization of animal dung as food for themselves, and for their larvae, though, some species for dung beetle larvae are feed upon the other diets, such as, carrion, fungi, other decaying vegetable matters etc., too. The beetles differ in their feeding habits and accordingly, can be categorized into their distinct sub groups.
Katihar to Kennedy' is an extraordinary journey of a man from dusty alleys of Katihar to the gleaming pathways of Kennedy. It is an autobiographical account of a small-town boy who starts his journey from a tiny town of Bihar, in one of India’s economically backward districts and is able to reach the Harvard Kennedy School in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The journey also depicts the inner conflicts of a man and his continuous efforts to overcome all the difficulties in his path while fighting with his inner shortcomings. The book is about the lessons he learned – from failures as well as from moments of triumph. These are learned while engaging intimately with harsh socio-economic realities, and contrasts he experienced while moving between cities, institutions, and job roles. It is also a book of honest confrontation, of a person’s own ego and pride.
Today, with the pervasive impact of globalization and liberalization sweeping across the globe, exerting its influence on both the developed and the developing nations, business is no more confined to the national borders of a country. More and more companies are spreading their business to markets abroad (for example, Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies spreading their business to USA and elsewhere) or acquiring new companies (for instance, Tata acquiring the Corus and the Land Rover and Jaguar, or reversely, Vodafone acquiring Hutch). International business, therefore, has become such an important area of study for students of management and commerce. This comprehensive and easy-to-read text tries to lay bare the ramifications and complexities of international business. Divided into six sections, the book provides a harmonious blend of concepts and applications of international business. What distinguishes the text is the emphasis it lays on the Indian cases and the Indian scenario through the provision of many cases and illustrative examples. However, the book goes beyond the Indian context by giving international cases, thus imbuing the text with a global business flavour. Key Features The case studies discussed include the cases such as Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, Ranbaxy, McDonald, Nokia, Microsoft and Walt Disney. The opening case in each chapter introduces the students to a real-life example, followed by the text which provides the theoretical knowledge on the subject. The concluding case study correlates the theoretical knowledge with the real-life situation. Review questions are cited after every case study to check students’ comprehension of the subject. Primarily intended as a text for undergraduate and postgraduate students of Business Administration, MBA, MIB and postgraduate students of Commerce, the book would be of great value also to practising managers.

This book is a comprehensive guide to design and conduct the research in management-related field, such as marketing management and human resources management. It provides an overview of the real research conducted by authors throughout their careers and explains the important and growing research design used in management research-mixed method research design. Video tutorials are also included for complete qualitative data collection and data analysis. These videos are included to help readers understand the research and apply the techniques using the recommended software programs. Mixed Method Research Design: An Application in Consumer-Brand Relationships (CBR) begins with an introduction, providing background on the study including related literature in the areas of consumer-brand relationships, which helps the book to show how research questions and research objectives can be developed for the mixed method study. This is followed by a detailed explanation of the methodology, which establishes the ground rule for the study. Finally it takes look at the analysis and results of mixed method research study. Additionally the book examines the procedures of mixing of qualitative and quantitative paradigms in research both in terms of hypothesis development and testing. It helps readers understand how to design their research studies using mixed method design. It also demonstrates managerial implications, to help understand how mixed research design could be used to show contribution to the theory and practice.
At a time when effective communications has become the biggest issue confronting the cooperative movement globally, the book delves into the issues of Public Relations and Media in the context of cooperatives in India. Being the largest cooperative movement in the world, with significant achievements in various areas of socio-economic activities, the Indian cooperative movement faces a big challenge of image-building which can enhance the profile of the cooperative movement, and create awareness about the beneficial aspects of cooperative development amongst the general masses. Against this backdrop, the book is a timely endeavour to analyse the issues of public relations and media which have an important role in image-building of the cooperative sector. The book with a strategic orientation comes up with fresh perspectives so as to prepare a road-map for strengthening the functioning of public relations and media in the working of cooperatives in India. As communications is considered the weakest link in the functioning of the cooperative sector, there is a strong realization that the cooperative movement in India cannot succeed without a vibrant public relations and media policy. As the communication literature in the cooperative sector in India is scanty, the book also fills a big void in enriching the subjects of public relations and media, which are generally neglected. The book deals with a wide gamut of vital issues like importance of public relations, research in public relations, media relations, community media, cooperative advocacy, success stories, strategic communications, social media, role of blogs, and also some case studies related to public relations and media. The book provides a refreshing referral benefit to students and teachers of public relations and media, research scholars, faculty members, academicians, practitioners and policy-makers related to the cooperative sector in India and abroad.
This book is intended to serve as a one-stop reference on fibre-reinforced soils. Over the past 30-35 years, the engineering behaviour of randomly distributed/oriented fibre-reinforced soil, also called simply fibre-reinforced soil, has been investigated in detail by researchers and engineers worldwide. Waste fibres (plastic waste fibres, old tyre fibres, etc.) create disposal and environmental problems. Utilization of such fibres in construction can help resolve these concerns. Research studies and some field applications have shown that the fibres can be utilized in large quantities in geotechnical and civil engineering applications in a cost-effective and environmentally friendly manner. This book covers a complete description of fibres, their effects when included within a soil or other similar materials such as the fly ash, and their field applications. It gives a detailed view of fibre-reinforced soil engineering. The book will be useful to students, professional, and researchers alike, and can also serve as a text for graduate coursework and professional development programs
