It is a matter of both honour and pleasure for us as editors of this much awaited an edited book on the current topic like ‘Nepotism’. Writing a preface for this book on Nepotism is itself a separate and great experience. Actually, this book is an outcome or the result of great endurance and painstaking efforts taken by all of us. Prof. Dr. Manoj Bhagat has done a sincere job of proofreading and he has taken care of all the technical aspects from the first day of collections of all research papers and articles up to compilation of them properly for this edited book. Of course, Prof. Dr. Sanjay Deosthale stood along with us in the complete process of this book, his guidance proved to be fruitful as an outcome of the final copy of ‘Nepotism’ book. It was really a laborious as well as difficult task to call a research paper or article on such a hot topic which has influenced almost all areas of life and work, but ultimately, we could do it with cooperation and team spirit within us. I must be grateful to Prof. Dr. Manoj Bhagat for suggestion to work on the selected topic i.e. Nepotism and bring it into the form of an edited book. Now, this most debatable topic like Nepotism has attracted the attention of critics and readers towards it. It has not only come up as a separate branch of study in humanities, social science and other correlated subjects also.
Generally, people organize themselves into a political society and adopt the basic law for their governance. The first principle to which they cling is the principle of democracy. By definition 'democracy' means a form of government, i.e., 'a government by the people, of the people and for the people'. But even a little consideration tells us that nearly all those who use the word "democracy" today understand that it means more than a mere form of government. Democracy can better be defined as an absence of class government, as the indication of social condition where a political privilege belongs to no one class as opposed to the whole community. While the idea of democracy is relevant to the idea of government by the people; the concept includes in the context of the present-day affairs, a notion of justice and equality of rights for all members of the community. Once such an idea is accepted and Democracy is to be the form of government there will be equality of all before the law and equal protection before the law. The resulting concept from such an approach of society would be the Rule of Law. When people take the decision of having a government by the people and having a Rule of Law for themselves the understanding is reduced by them in a document which is known as the Constitution of the country.

For every story of optimism about the growth of medical tourism to India, there are multiple others about medical neglect. Scratch the surface and you find a thick layer of corruption in this life-sustaining sector. This hard-hitting volume shows a mirror to society and, more specifically, to those associated with the health sector—on how healers, in many cases, are shifting shape to becoming predators. In the essays by contributors from within and outside the medical fraternity, we see the many faces, the many facets of corruption—from exorbitant billing by corporate hospitals to the non-merit-based selection in medical colleges to questionable motives playing strong in the area of organ transplantation. But Healers or Predators? is not only about the illness affecting the sector. It also offers solutions, and some stories of hope. The Foreword by Amartya Sen is an added bonus. ‘This splendid, if depressing, book will do a lot to remedy [the] momentous neglect [of healthcare]. We have excellent reasons to be grateful to the authors and editors of this important collection of investigative studies.’—Amartya Sen
The sensor cloud is a new model of computing paradigm for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), which facilitates resource sharing and provides a platform to integrate different sensor networks where multiple users can build their own sensing applications at the same time. It enables a multi-user on-demand sensory system, where computing, sensing, and wireless network resources are shared among applications. Therefore, it has inherent challenges for providing security and privacy across the sensor cloud infrastructure. With the integration of WSNs with different ownerships, and users running a variety of applications including their own code, there is a need for a risk assessment mechanism to estimate the likelihood and impact of attacks on the life of the network. The data being generated by the wireless sensors in a sensor cloud need to be protected against adversaries, which may be outsiders as well as insiders. Similarly, the code disseminated to the sensors within the sensor cloud needs to be protected against inside and outside adversaries. Moreover, since the wireless sensors cannot support complex and energy-intensive measures, the lightweight schemes for integrity, security, and privacy of the data have to be redesigned. The book starts with the motivation and architecture discussion of a sensor cloud. Due to the integration of multiple WSNs running user-owned applications and code, the possibility of attacks is more likely. Thus, next, we discuss a risk assessment mechanism to estimate the likelihood and impact of attacks on these WSNs in a sensor cloud using a framework that allows the security administrator to better understand the threats present and take necessary actions. Then, we discuss integrity and privacy preserving data aggregation in a sensor cloud as it becomes harder to protect data in this environment. Integrity of data can be compromised as it becomes easier for an attacker to inject false data in a sensor cloud, and due to hop by hop nature, privacy of data could be leaked as well. Next, the book discusses a fine-grained access control scheme which works on the secure aggregated data in a sensor cloud. This scheme uses Attribute Based Encryption (ABE) to achieve the objective. Furthermore, to securely and efficiently disseminate application code in sensor cloud, we present a secure code dissemination algorithm which first reduces the amount of code to be transmitted from the base station to the sensor nodes. It then uses Symmetric Proxy Re-encryption along with Bloom filters and Hash-based Message Authentication Code (HMACs) to protect the code against eavesdropping and false code injection attacks.
India is a unique country, proud for possessing a well-documented and well established system of medicine. The system known as Ayurvedic medicine is being practiced for centuries, which flourished from 2500 B.C. to 500 B.C. The Vedic texts, dating back to 3,000 B.C. deal extensively with the medicinal properties of plants. Two other systems of medicine, viz. Siddha (developed and established in South India) and Unani (introduced by Mughals) are also used in this country.

Digital technologies are proliferating and transforming racism, complicating our understanding, and making contemporary racism increasingly harder to challenge. Digital racism takes many forms, such as viral memes circulating via social media platforms; the swarming of networked users targeting people of colour; hidden algorithmic classification and sorting; and the racial profiling of policing and surveillance systems. The variance and complexity of technologically mediated racisms begs the question of whether adequate attention has been paid to digital processes and environments through which race materializes. Understanding Digital Racism analyzes the digital realm as a race-making technology, by exploring the rise, dissemination, and evolution of contemporary racism. Sanjay Sharma offers an innovative approach for understanding how racism─as informational and im/material post-racial phenomena─is manifested and remade through digital technologies. Digital racism is grasped through foregrounding the sociotechnical entanglements of racism and digital technologies. An analysis of networked relations, information flows, subjectivation and affects are critical to addressing the production of digital racism.

Parents play a multifaceted role in shaping their children's lives, specifically focusing on the tension between fostering independence and recognizing individual potential. While parents are undoubtedly crucial figures in a child's development, acting as primary educators and guides, their influence can sometimes inadvertently neglect the child's unique needs and aspirations. This potential conflict arises within the social context. Parents, often drawing upon societal expectations and their own experiences, navigate a path toward independence for their children. While providing a foundation, this established structure may only partially account for the diverse spectrum of individual strengths and weaknesses, exemplified by frameworks like Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences. Furthermore, the current parenting model prioritizes independence over fostering a long-term, supportive relationship with the child. This oversimplification overlooks the complexity of healthy parent-child relationships, which can encompass individual autonomy and a strong sense of connection. It is important to acknowledge that the limitations of traditional parenting approaches are not solely the result of individual shortcomings. Unlike most professions, parenting lacks formal instruction, relying largely on on-the-job learning and adapting to diverse situations. This reality necessitates further exploration of alternative approaches and support systems that can empower parents to navigate this complex and crucial role while recognizing each child's unique potential. It is critical to understand and emphasise the undeniable importance of parents in their children's lives while urging a critical examination of current practices. By recognizing the potential tension between established structures and individual needs, we can foster a dialogue that leads to a more nuanced and effective approach to raising future generations. While parents undoubtedly guide us from dependence to independence, equipping us for life's journey, this traditional approach often overlooks the unique spark within each child. This book challenges that notion. "Leadership Parenting" champions a new perspective. Here, we move beyond simply providing for our children's needs. We explore how to nurture their strengths, aspirations, and intellectual, emotional, and social potential. Forget the "one-size-fits-all" model. This is a call to action to embrace the constant learning inherent in parenting. You'll discover tools and strategies to navigate the complexities of modern parenthood, fostering independence and a supportive, long-term relationship with your child.

The importance of the Himalayan state of Nepal has been obscured by the international campaign to free Tibet and the vicissitudes of the Sino-Indian rivalry. This book presents the history of Nepal’s domestic politics and foreign relations from ancient to modern times. Analysing newly declassified reports from the United States and Britain, published memoirs, oral recollections and interviews, the book presents the historical interactions between Nepal, China, Tibet and India. It discusses how the ageing and inevitable death of the 14th Dalai Lama, the radicalization of Tibetan diaspora and the ascendancy of the international campaign to free Tibet are of increasing importance to Nepal. With its position between China and India, the book notes how the focus could shift to Nepal, with it being home to some 20,000 Tibetan refugees and its chronic political turmoil, deepened by the Asian giants’ rivalry. Using a chronological approach, the past and present of the rivalry between China and India are studied, and attempts to chart the future are made. The book contributes to a new understanding of the intricate relationship of Nepal with these neighbouring countries, and is of interest to students and scholars of South Asian studies, politics and international relations.
This book offers an elaborate and empirical look at service quality of hospitals in the emerging market of India. The poor quality of service is a major issue in a large number of hospitals (particularly in government hospitals), which forces patients to opt for private hospitals that are generally much more expensive than government hospitals. This book provides a comprehensive understanding of service quality antecedents in Indian hospitals. It focuses on patient satisfaction and includes valuable insights and implications for hospital management and government. The book is theoretically grounded in SERVQUAL literature and uses appropriate and sophisticated techniques and tools to analyse data. It highlights causal model development with Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and introduces a classification model, developed using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), in order to benchmark specialty cardiac care. The book also deals with Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and compares the error rates between SVM and ANN to find the best classification technique among the two. Overall, this book is a timely and relevant work that contributes to the theory, practice and policy of service quality in hospitals.
