This book is a little peak into the obnoxious and ridiculous life that I am happy to call my own. From tales of my Lebanese (and sometimes delusional) grandmother to filthy stories of fornication and substance abuse, there are several reasons that I should probably not allow anyone who knows me personally to read this. However, I am very proud and extremely giddy to say that I finally dodged my ADD long enough to complete this project, and I am forerver grateful to all of those in my life who helped create these memories (well, most of them anyways. Oh yeah, and my dad John Raffoul who will most likely murder me if I don't mention that he is solely responsible for the design and photography of the cover, Thanks Dad!). If you are like me and enjoy an easy and pervy read I highly recommend that you pull up your skirt, pour yourself a cocktail, and dive into this lovely book of mine. If you do not, you are a Communist: )

Everyone has a battle in life that theyve had to face. For me, well, it wasnt something that a typical teenage girl had to deal with. No, it wasnt a lifelong disease or some crippling addiction I was trying to beat either. But, in a way, I guess you could say it was. My battle only got harder and 10 times more complicated when I met a Nixon. Then it got even worse when I met the rest of the Nixon clan. While I wouldnt say that my life was normal before I met William Nixon, I was actually trying to make it that way. I was trying to distance myself from what Id wrapped my whole life around. But one mistake one stupid decision to go back to the warehouse undid two years worth of hard work. Now I was back to where I started addicted, bloodied, crippled, and diseased. Only, I wasnt really. That would mean I was home and in reality I was the furthest thing from it. If I were home that would mean most things would be back to the way they were. But they werent. They couldnt be. There was only one thing that always seemed to stay the same. The place I could never escape. The place that drew me back time and time again. The warehouse. All I can say though is fighting only gets you somewhere. And I learned that the hard way.
This book is the first single volume history of Stepney in modern times. It sets out to provide a vivid and yet scholarly portrait of an iconic London borough situated in the heart of the East End. Stepney is an area with very many well known associations and images, from the horrifying murders of “Jack the Ripper” to the soaking up of the heavy bomb damage during the Blitz, from the classical confrontation between Mosley’s fascists and the socialist left at the “Battle of Cable Street,” to the dramatic “Siege of Sidney Street” when Liberal Home Secretary Winston Churchill rooted out an anarchist cell. Beyond these dramatic episodes, Stepney witnessed the perennial struggle for subsistence among the many poor, the rise and fall of the great local docks, the immigration of large numbers of Jewish refugees from Eastern Europe and elsewhere, the growth of the Labour Party and the surprising local ascendancy of the Communists, the desperate drive to improve public housing, the evacuation of a large proportion of its children at the start of World War II, and much more besides. This is a truly ground-breaking, very readable book that fills a surprising gap in our knowledge and greatly enhances our understanding of London, urban, working-class, inter-ethnic, industrial and British 20th century history.
Anna was stuck in a dead-end job and a loveless marriage. Once her children had flown the nest, she realised she needed to make some major changes to uncover the person she once was, the confident and spirited individual she had been. As hard as it would be to move out of the family home and regardless of how apprehensive Anna felt about going alone, she was much more scared of staying. After gathering all the courage she could muster and having made many plans, Anna and her trusted dog, Teddy, set out to the Norfolk coast to build a new life. Anna had rented a small wooden beach house she had come across while walking Teddy along the coast, it needed quite a bit of TLC, but Anna was up for the job, imagining the beach walks her and Teddy could enjoy and the view of the sea that would greet her each morning, Anna was sure this would be a good place to start her new life. Anna was welcomed in the community and one particular resident, a very colourful lady named Maggie, decided to take Anna under her wing. Maggie was a pillar in the beachside community, and she knew everyone and everything that went on. A twist of fate and a little help from Maggie led Anna to a run-down beach café which, like herself, needed re-building. What Anna didn’t expect was who this little café would bring into her life or the person from her past who would come back to haunt her and the adventures she would have along the way.

Perfect for fans of Nina Moreno, Gilmore Girls, and Sarah Dessen, You Wouldn't Dare will wrap you up in a sun-drenched, salt-scented hug and refuse to let you go." - Amanda Quain, author of Accomplished: A Georgie Darcy Novel A rom com about trying to have the summer of your life before everything changes - only to realize change might be exactly what you need... When Juniper Nash Abreheart kissed Graham Isham for the first time, she had no idea it would nearly be the end of their friendship. More specifically, she had no idea that the terrible, unforgivable thing she did to keep their summer fling a secret wouldn’t just ruin their friendship, but also Graham’s entire life. Now, months since the fallout, Junie and Graham spend most of their time sidestepping conversational landmines on the journey back to normalcy. Junie is sure the strangeness between her and Graham is her biggest problem - until her mom hires Tallulah, her boyfriend’s surly teenage daughter, to work at their family café, and then announces they’ll all be moving in together at the end of the summer. The only bright spot ahead is Junie’s dad’s upcoming visit, just in time for her community theater production. And then poor turnout soon threatens that. But when Junie starts to realize the feelings she swore to take care of last summer have lingered, saving her production and managing her hostile relationship with Tallulah might be the least of her problems. Graham isn’t just off limits - their friendship has been mended to barely withstand a breeze, and the gale force of Junie’s feelings could be just what breaks them. Samantha Markum’s You Wouldn’t Dare is about the risks and triumphs that come with being brave enough to take a chance at what you really want, including love.

Even though you're a child are you supposed to let others harm you? Does it give grown-ups the right to bully a kid? Adults can lie too. Defending the enemy is wrong because the antagonist is incorrect to pick on someone. Letting others pick at you will make them realize you're a poltroon. Going against a child victim is wrong. Those liars you listen to will laugh at you behind your back thinking you are a wooden head. When you take sides with the person who is unethical you're just as much of a birdbrain as him/her/them.

Is marriage really the duty of each man or is it an emotional and soulful dedication that undeniably belongs to one special lady? Fate has plans for Lord Christopher Jared, the future Duke of Darenth. Winner of 2021 Lambda Literary Award for Bisexual Nonfiction • #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From Samantha Irby, beloved author of We Are Never Meeting in Real Life, a rip-roaring, edgy and unabashedly raunchy new collection of hilarious essays. “Stay-up-all-night, miss-your-subway-stop, spit-out-your-beverage funny.... irresistible as a snack tray, as intimately pleasurable as an Irish goodbye.” —Jia Tolentino Irby is forty, and increasingly uncomfortable in her own skin despite what Inspirational Instagram Infographics have promised her. She has left her job as a receptionist at a veterinary clinic, has published successful books and has been friendzoned by Hollywood, left Chicago, and moved into a house with a garden that requires repairs and know-how with her wife in a Blue town in the middle of a Red state where she now hosts book clubs and makes mason jar salads. This is the bourgeois life of a Hallmark Channel dream. She goes on bad dates with new friends, spends weeks in Los Angeles taking meetings with "tv executives slash amateur astrologers" while being a "cheese fry-eating slightly damp Midwest person," "with neck pain and no cartilage in [her] knees," who still hides past due bills under her pillow. The essays in this collection draw on the raw, hilarious particulars of Irby's new life. Wow, No Thank You. is Irby at her most unflinching, riotous, and relatable.
