Constructing an investment portfolio is not a “one-size-fits-all” undertaking. Every investor has his or her own personality. Successful investing begins with knowing yourself – knowing how much risk you can take, the amount of time you can spend, your personal strengths and weaknesses, etc. What works for your friend, or your advisor, or Warren Buffett, may not necessarily work for you. Following them blindly can lead to a disastrous mismatch with your own style. In Personality-Driven Portfolio, author Sam Phoen approaches this problem from a revolutionary angle. Through a series of questions, the reader is first shown how to evaluate his/her investment personality: “Am I an Egoistic Elephant, a Diligent Deer, a Cagey Crab, or a Busy Bee?” Each personality type needs to take a different investment approach. A portfolio that suits the Egoistic Elephant, for example, will turn the Busy Bee or Cagey Crab into a nervous wreck! Targeted at investors at all levels of experience, this book is a practical guide on how to put together a “bespoke” portfolio, and on top of that, how to manage and rebalance the portfolio when necessary, so as to produce sustained results over the long term.

The study explored the perception of executive coaching among the chief executive officers (CEOs) of America's largest 500 companies as shown on Fortune magazine list of April 15, 2002. This study utilized an instrument of 12 questions. The questionnaire was sent to the CEOs of the top 500 American companies. A cover letter and a self-addressed, postage-paid envelope were provided. Attribute responses were coded and analyzed using several descriptive statistical tool. Out of the 500 targeted CEOs, 143 participated in this study. Seventy-six percent of the respondents demonstrated a good understanding of the basic concepts of executive coaching. Eighty-three percent were able to distinguish coaching from consulting, 61% stated that coaching can make their life somewhat better, 49% agreed on the idea of hiring executive coaches, and 32% declared that they had hired coaches. Those who never hired a coach showed a great deal of willingness (37%) to hire one. Sixty-two percent of the respondents indicated a preference for coaches from outside their organizations, 51% would search for one through human resources, 31% preferred sites off their company premises for coaching sessions, and 43% would keep their coaching relationship confidential.Thirty-nine percent of the participants expressed the belief that coaching should not be limited to a specific management level, and 37% said they supported research related to executive coaching. Based on these findings, executive coaching can be considered as a worthwhile investment. Future studies may take a closer look at the details and characteristics of the coaching session, and may explore what is called the "trusted advisor," someone who is believed to be much closer to the client than is the coach.
In Regional Interest Magazines of the United States, Sam G. Riley and Gary W. Selnow focus on those magazines that direct their attention to a particular city or region and reach a fairly general readership intersted in entertainment and information. This work is a follow-up to their earlier Index to City and Regional Magazines of the United States. Titles are arranged alphabetically to facilitate access; each entry includes a historical essay on the magazine's founding, development, editorial policies, and content. Entries also include two sections that provide data on information sources and publication history, arranged in tabular form for ready reference. In choosing the magazines to be profiled, Riley and Selnow attempted to represent not only the biggest and most successful of this genre, but also some smaller and newer titles, plus significant earlier magazines that are no longer in print. Special care was also taken to achieve an even geographical spread. To attain greater accuracy, regional writers were enlisted to do the entries on their own region. These writers provide valuable information on how the various magazines began, how conditions have caused them to change, their problems, their editors and publishers, and their content as well as colorful and little known facts of their operation. Magazines were arranged alphabetically, and two informative appendices list the profiled titles by founding date and geographic location. This volume will be a valuable resource for students of magazine publishing history.
It's no secret that superhero comics have historically included problematic depictions of women, racial and sexual minorities, and others who do not fit the standard straight white male model of a hero. Rather than focus on these negative depictions, Langsdale wants to take a more positive approach by looking at recent comics that can be called feminist, with female heroes and creators of all genders that tell new types of stories within the genre. Although these books have usually been marginalized and have suffered premature cancellation, she argues that this marginalization has enabled innovative stories to be told in ways that not only advance the genre but also interact with contemporary social justice concerns. Incorporating intersectionality and feminist theory, Langsdale analyzes complete stories focused on various heroes -- Spider-Woman, America Chavez, the Unstoppable Wasp, and Ironheart. By exploring different elements of these characters, e.g., Spider-Woman's pregnancy, America's identity as a queer mestiza, and the Wasp's creation of a female-run STEM facility, she examines what makes these texts feminist and how they interact with larger issues of inclusion and social justice in ways that more traditional superhero narratives don't and probably can't. She also examines how these characters' appearances in other media have played a part in their development. By focusing on marginalized runs of comics, Langsdale demonstrates how even these can make powerful statements about feminism and the world"--
