The book can help you befriend and learn a lot about Odin, Thor, Frigg, Hela, Freya, Tyr, Freyr and more... There are many names for the Celestial Being, and it can harder to define than air. Worldwide there is Lady, Goddess, Deity, Loki, Yahweh, Father, Xochiquetzal..., well you get the idea. Many Pagans prefer to use a gender free word such as 'Spirit'. For me, I use 'Divine Friends'. My book also gives a modern twist. A way to honor those Gods and Goddesses in the twenty-first century. For example, the first Goddess listed is Valkyries. An ancient ""warrior maiden on winged horses"". How does a twenty-first city boy with no spear or horse honor her? ""Honor their friendship by helping veterans of war or by feeding the homeless"". Devotion among the confederates to their families and to the beautiful jewel enables the giant to see his own thread in the grand tapestry of the ages and to choose a course of action by which he can both defend Girasol and attain the life of peace he seeks. As an author, I spend a lot of time sitting at the keyboard, as do many in this and similar professions. Prior to becoming a novelist, I was a long-haul trucker, another sedentary lifestyle. Over the course of many years, the body I once had as an active-duty Marine turned into a blob. So, I decided to do something about it. The change from Marine to blob took decades, so I didn’t even notice it happening. But when I put the aging process in reverse, the changes were very noticeable and fast-coming. I’d intended to write a sequel to Blue Collar to No Collar, my non-fiction on writing and publishing in the digital age and the title was to be No Collar to White Collar, a study of taking my writing career to the next level as a publisher. Six years later, I’ve only lived chapter one of that book, so it will be a while before I finish it. Then along came Sam Hoster, my co-author. I know very little about health and fitness, except that I’m living proof that even in our mid-sixties, it’s not too late to become fit and strong. So, I invited Sam to write this book with me. You see, he’s the owner of the gym I started going to and through the guidance and tutelage of his trainers and coaches, I went from blob to competitive powerlifter in just over a year. At the time of this writing, it’s not certain if I will hold any of my states powerlifting records for my age and weight, but the Marine in me says that by the time this is published, I’ll hold four state records. This book isn’t a memoir, but a motivational. Anyone can become stronger and healthier. All you need is guidance and a little push. That’s what we’re here for. Sam provides the guidance and I do the pushing. Kinda like in the gym.

Others are the little known but colorful people of the streets of Las Vegas who enjoyed the good life in their own way. The Las Vegas atmosphere in the 50s and 60s was particularly heady and magical. It was the era of the Rat Pack and Ocean's Eleven. Dean Martin was dealing "21" at the Sands for fun and driving the pit bosses crazy. Frank Sinatra was getting into fist fights with hotel managers and driving his dentist crazy. Those were the days when $5 for the show room captain could get you a seat close to the stage for almost any show, except Frank and Dean's show. A $500 bill couldn't buy a seat at those performances. Those who lived in the city were smug in the knowledge that it was an insider's playground, a familiar turf that was fun to know and move around in. Tales of Old Las Vegas brings us into the lives of the adventurers who lived in that magical era. It shows how they were affected by a free rolling city and the violent people who made and enforced the rules. .
