Though the idea of fertigation existed from the times of solution culture, it did not receive the necessary attention from among plant nutritionists and agronomists when it reappeared in the context of micro irrigation. Fertilizer application in field agriculture has also not developed as a precision technology. Recommendations of the quantum of fertilizers required for a crop, at least in India are not based on current varieties of the crops, nor have they anything to do with the growth rate and developmental changes occurring while a crop is managed by the grower. Most of the fertilizer recommendations are itself very old and efforts to make them relevant to the current growing conditions, soil status, crop variety and crops reaction to the environment etc. are very limited. It is even worse when growers follow traders’ recommendations whose idea is to sell more the fertilizer they supply. Not only lower yields and very low fertilizer use efficiencies, but the deterioration of soil and water bodies are the results. Tissue engineering utilizes biomaterial scaffolds to mimic various natural properties in order to augment regeneration therapies. Current tissue engineering techniques typically incorporate imprecise scaffold geometries with random cell placement. As a result, little can be known about the specific influences of controlled changes in 3D scaffold properties on cell behavior and therefore making the results less predictive of how cell behaves in a 3D environment. Digital micromirror-assisted projection printing (DMD-PP) technology has become a promising tool to develop user-defined precise 3D microenvironments using complex biological components such as cells and native extracellular matrix (ECM). DMD-PP technology has been used in a variety of applications ranging from tissue engineering to cancer cell migration to neural stem cell culture, with the potential of patterning multiple cells in precise 3D locations. This chapter describes the novel use of DMD-PP technology in developing biomaterial scaffolds with tunable Poisson’s ratio, a fundamental aspect of mechanical property of all biomaterials.

Washington threatens these adversaries with the use of incommensurate levels of force, then ultimately backs down in the face of international and domestic opposition to ill-considered plans to use force. Unlike works on nuclear history that have either focused on superpower nuclear conflicts and ignored cases of American nuclear diplomacy toward non-nuclear adversaries, or those that have focused merely on the outcomes of nuclear threats against non-nuclear powers, this book considers in depth American nuclear diplomacy toward China during the whole period of Sino-American military confrontations. Soman offers new insights on Truman's decision to enter the Korean War, the extent of nuclear diplomacy during the war, and the way in which the war ended.
