This is a fully revised and updated edition of S.F. Goodman's popular book The European Community. Retitled to reflect recent changes, the book includes discussion of the 1996 Intergovernmental Conference to review the working of the Maastricht Treaty and prepare for the next stage of monetary union. The book applies economic theory in a clear, direct manner to major areas of interest such as foreign exchange markets, agriculture, trade, money and the ERM.
A study of the European Community and the UK's present and future role in it. The author concentrates on ideas, trends and developments rather than upon creating a factual reference book on the subject. It is written from the viewpoint that the UK would benefit from a commitment to the EC.
Originally published in 1987, this book is a chronologically horiztonal study of many aspects of one group of tragedies, written under similar conditions during a short period of time: the Elizabethan tragedies of the inns of court. The plays produced by members of the Inns of Court have long been recognized as seminal in the development of Elizabethan tragedy, and include the earliest formal dramatic tragedy in English. The book includes chapters on plot construction, characters and characterization and ethical significance.
The increased use of non-inferiority analysis has been accompanied by a proliferation of research on the design and analysis of non-inferiority studies. Using examples from real clinical trials, Design and Analysis of Non-Inferiority Trials brings together this body of research and confronts the issues involved in the design of a non-inferiority tr
Since the last joint IAU and COSPAR Colloquium in Gainesville in 1995, there have been dramatic changes in the field resulting from in-situ space experiments, Earth orbiting satellites and ground based observations. The brightest comet since the early years of the twentieth century, comet Hale-Bopp, appeared, giving an invaluable opportunity to see in action one great source of interplanetary dust. Similarly, the Leonid meteor shower has been at its most active since 1966, producing spectacular displays of meteors and allowing for an array of observational techniques, not available in 1966 to be used, while theory has also been refined to a level where very accurate predictions of the timing of meteor storms has become possible. Prior to the meeting a total eclipse of the Sun in South West England and North Europe was observed, traditionally a good opportunity to observe the Zodiacal cloud. The knowledge of the Near-Earth Asteroid population has also increased dramatically, with the increased study arising from the heightened awareness of the danger to Earth from such bodies. Extrasolar planets have been discovered since the last meeting and it is recognised that interplanetary dust in other Planetary Systems can now be studied. Since much of the dust observed in such systems is at a distance of order 100 AU from the star, this brings into focus the production of dust in the Edgeworth-Kuiper belt of our own system. Recent years have seen a recognition of the importance of dust originating outside our own system, that is now present in the near-Earth environment. As is always the case when great strides take place observationally, much theoretical work follows, and the same is true in this instance. While data about the planetary medium from Venus to Jupiter was beginning to be available at the meeting in 1995, the data from both Galileo and Ulysses have now been more fully analysed, with a corresponding increase in our knowledge. This book reflects the thematic approach adopted at the meeting, with a flow outwards (from meteors in the atmosphere, through zodiacal dust observation and interplanetary dust, to extra solar planetary systems) and returning (via the Edgeworth-Kuiper belt and comets) to the Earth, with laboratory studies of physical and chemical processes and the study of extra-terrestrial samples.

Dora is always aware of the line between fact and fiction. As a fact checker at an online magazine, her job depends on it. And as a woman outrunning her secrets, so does her life. One of ritual and belonging, of danger and darkness. A world where two girls promised to help each other through...until it all went up in flames. As her lies pile up, so do the murders. Until Dora realizes she won't be lucky enough to escape twice.
Radioactive Investigations of Oil and Gas Wells: A Textbook focuses on the radioactive methods used in the investigations of oil and gas wells, including radioactivity, nuclear reactions, and tracer method. The book first offers information on physical principles of the radiometry of wells and radioactive properties of rocks. Discussions focus on artificial transformation of elements and nuclear reactions; radioactivity and the law of radioactive disintegration; natural radioactivity; and induced radioactivity of rocks. The text then ponders on the methods of well geometry and radiometric apparatus. The publication examines the interpretation of results of measurements by the natural radioactivity method and working technique and interpretation of diagrams of the tracer method. Topics include selection of the radioactive isotope and technology of preparation of activated fluid and determination of absorbing strata and of communication between the strata outside the tubing in production wells and pressurized wells. The text is a dependable reference for readers interested in the radioactive methods used in the investigations of oil and gas wells.
This volume contains a collection of articles from the special program on algebraic and topological dynamics and a workshop on dynamical systems held at the Max-Planck Institute (Bonn, Germany). It reflects the extraordinary vitality of dynamical systems in its interaction with a broad range of mathematical subjects. Topics covered in the book include asymptotic geometric analysis, transformation groups, arithmetic dynamics, complex dynamics, symbolic dynamics, statisticalproperties of dynamical systems, and the theory of entropy and chaos. The book is suitable for graduate students and researchers interested in dynamical systems.
Dueling narratives propel this stunning psychological suspense...Hitchcock fans won't want to miss this nuanced, multilayered novel."—Publishers Weekly A captivating tour de force untangling trauma, memory, and the justice we serve when everyone else has turned a blind eye. Good girls keep quiet. But quiet girls can't stay silent forever—and the consequences are sure to make some noise.
