Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory condition of the airways which appears to be on the increase in the UK. About 5.2 million people are currently affected by asthma in the UK alone and roughly 1,400 die of the condition in the UK each year. The prevalence of asthma in children and adolescents has increased substantially over the past 30 years and is now roughly twice that of the prevalence of adults (10% vs. 5%). This book will take a proactive approach to management of asthma, explaining how patients (and their families) can take control of their condition.
