This is a devotional, a resource, and could easily be used for research. Studying biblical end-times and prophecy has actually given me peace of mind about our world. Jesus laid God's plan out for his disciples and revealed to John some prophetic events that will take place in the future. There is no date given for God's final plan to occur, but it will come to pass like all other prior prophecies described in the Bible. God's message is available for anyone who wants to peruse it, meditate on it, study it, be prepared and be blessed by it. As a devotional, prior to an election, I created a "Forty Day Fast and Prayer" for Christians. After sharing it with a woman, she urged me to write more devotions using the same process and style. That daily devotion was simply an Attitude, a Thought, and some Scriptures. After several years of writing and praying about this, I chose the acronym-AIM. A is the "attitude," I stands for the "instruction," and M is the relevant Scripture for memory or meditation. All the Be Attitudes are developed around Scripture and allow the reader to be in God's Word. By choice, the meditation can be long or short. When we AIM to let the Word of God move us, then His purpose will be accomplished.

In this unique "history from below," Destination Elsewhere chronicles encounters between displaced persons in Europe and the Allied agencies who were tasked with caring for them after the Second World War. The struggle to define who was a displaced person and who was not was a subject of intense debate and deliberation among humanitarians, international law experts, immigration planners, and governments. What has not adequately been recognized is that displaced persons also actively participated in this emerging refugee conversation. Displaced persons endured war, displacement, and resettlement, but these experiences were not defined by passivity and speechlessness. Instead, they spoke back, creating a dialogue that in turn helped shape the modern idea of the refugee. As Ruth Balint shows, what made a good or convincing story at the time tells us much about the circulation of ideas about the war, the Holocaust, and the Jews. Those stories depict the emerging moral and legal distinction between economic migrants and political refugees. They tell us about the experiences of women and children in the face of new psychological and political interventions into the family. Stories from displaced persons also tell us something about the enduring myth of the new world for people who longed to leave the old. Balint focuses on those persons whose storytelling skills became a major strategy for survival and escape out of the displaced persons' camps and out of the Europe. The Holy Spirit will do the rest. Jesus also said, "Here is what God's kingdom is like. A farmer scatters seed on the ground. Night and day the seed comes up and grows. It happens whether the farmer sleeps or gets up. He doesn't know how it happens. All by itself the soil produces grain. First the stalk comes up. Then the head appears. Finally, the full grain appears in the head. Before long the grain ripens. So the farmer cuts it down, because the harvest is ready." (Mark 4:26-29 NIRV). The author currently lives in Kitchener, Ontario with her husband Judah and their five children. When she is not busy mothering, Ruth likes to spend time reading, writing, and enjoying the great outdoors.
