In the three decades between 1946 and 1976, the Central Flying School which was based at Little Rissington, produced over 6000 fledgling Qualified Flying Instructors and continually endeavoured to monitor and improve the wider Royal Air Force's standards of flying, based on its sound, proven instructional methods and a wealth of tradition extending back to Upavon in 1912. With the cessation of hostilities in 1945, the station's role took on a new dimension with the arrival of the Central Flying School (CFS) from RAF Upavon in the following year. The main function of CFS was to fulfil RAF requirements and assist some Commonwealth air force requirements for flying instructors. RAF Little Rissington became CFS's important focal base for the next thirty years. The book covers the 1946 to 1976 period and has been drawn from from the records at the National Archives, the RAF Museum, the Central Flying School Archive, and from published sources. Anecdotes and recollections from over 100 service and civilian personnel, ranging from Air Marshals to AC2s, who were once based at Little Rissington bring these unfolding years to life.

When Lesslie Newbigin returned to Britain in 1974 after years of missionary service, he observed that his homeland was as much a mission field as India, where he had spent the majority of his missionary career. He concluded that the Western world needed a missionary confrontation. Instead of the traditional approach to missions, however, Newbigin realized that the Western world needed to be confronted theologically. From his earliest days at Cambridge University, Newbigin developed certain theological convictions that shaped his understanding of the Christian faith. Newbigin utilizes these theological convictions as criteria for evaluating the belief system of Western culture and for providing an answer to Western culture's dilemma. It is Newbigin's contention that the West is suffering from a loss of purpose because at the time of the Enlightenment, it rejected a belief system that gave it purpose. This was also a belief system that made it uniquely different from the rest of the world, particularly Asia. The Enlightenment reintroduced humanism and dualism into Western culture, which resulted in the loss of purpose and the rise of skepticism. Modern science and the scientific method, in the form of scientism, added to the problem, making human reason the measure of truth, and limiting facts to only that which could be verified through controlled experiment. Newbigin's solution is to reintroduce the Christian belief system into Western culture in order to restore purpose and truth to Westerners and to put them into contact with true reality through Jesus Christ. He desires to do this in the context of both modernism and post-modernism. This book will discuss Newbigin's theological convictions and how they factored into both his critique of and his solution for Western culture's spiritual and worldview problems.

The second major revolution affecting teacher leadership is the rise of the Internet and ICT, and the way these give rise to greater and more flexible opportunities for students to become autonomous learners. Autonomous student learning now occurs in significant new ways and under parameters that are far more expansive than school-based learning. An effective model of teacher leadership thus needs to capture these changes in order to reflect the new realities of student learning and student engagement with their schools.

Abstract: In a first step, this ERP derives the theoretical necessity to provide voluntary strategic and non-financial Information. It is argued that companies are an integral part of a common environment and society, acting in a framework of interdependent relationships. A company is more and more seen as a community of interests of different groups, and it can only act in an optimal way if the demands of all groups are taken into account and its behaviour is adjusted accordingly. In this context, interest groups' demands for company Information depend an the possibilities of improvements in decision making or monitoring that arise with its use, which in turn is mainly determined by the potential of Information to reduce uncertainty in the areas of interest. For external decision-makers, uncertainty often arises from sources about which conservative company statements provide little insight. Due to the traditional, finance-oriented concept of disclosure, this is particularly true for strategic and non-financial aspects. Related additional Information that is voluntarily provided can considerably reduce uncertainty, even more so as part of audited statements. Conventional financial reporting and existing disclosure requirements will generally not nearly satisfy those information needs of user groups. Any economic action, though, should only be taken if related benefits are exceeding related costs. This priority of economicalness also holds for companies' production, processing and disclosure of Information. Therefore, it is necessary to consider as detailed as possible potential opportunities and disadvantages for voluntarily disclosing company Information both an and outside capital markets. This is done in a second major part of the present work. First, voluntary disclosure can potentially affect share prices and thereby the market value of the firm, markets not being strong-form efficient. So, by giving company Information, a higher market value can directly be induced, thereby potentially lowering the cost of capital which, for example, improves the company's competitive position in the battle for cheap additional financing.
