So often we read passages from the Bible, but the beauty and richness of what we are reading is veiled from us because we neither understand the language, the culture, nor the context in which it was written. Dr. Blizzard and other contributors to this book take some of these important passages and shine a light of understanding on them so clearly that anyone reading can understand and enjoy the beauty of the Word of God.

After numerous negotiations the Indigenous still remained scattered throughout the wilds of Northern Ontario, Canada. In spite of treacherously cold conditions, they remained steadfast to the land, refusing to give up their lifestyle while trying to survive from Mother Nature’s unpredictable temperament. Captain Jesse Burn’s illegitimate son was among them. Father and son, a pair of strong-willed rival enemies, co-existed in a strange and deadly kinship while getting caught up in a changing way of life that neither would accept. It was during November 1898. when Jesse had received his orders as a dedicated, respected officer in the Armed Forces. He had a job to fulfill regardless of the number of lives lost during the process. After Colonel McEwan shook Jesse’s hand and walked out, Jesse stared at the closed door for a long time. He glanced at the document containing the list of names he was to apprehend, knowing that most of those men would rather die in battle than be taken alive. Jesse scanned further down the list and suddenly froze. He opened his desk drawer and pulled out a bottle of whiskey hidden near the back. After many swallows, he leaned back in his chair; his eyes were pools of liquid blue. His son’s name was on that list.
The purpose of this book is to acquaint the student with the historical, geographical, political, and religious context that gave birth to the document that we call the New Testament or the New Covenant. This is a survey. If you have had a survey course, you know that this is the kind of a study where you give a cursory parasol to the material. Instead of a deep, theological and historical study, you're getting a rather broad picture. That is what this kind of book is designed to be-just a survey. That's not the way that I'm going to write it. I will give special attention to the life and teaching of Jesus in its proper historical, cultural, and linguistically context. I then will look at this movement that centers around Jesus with him considering himself to be the center of a new movement that he calls "the Kingdom". I want to pay special attention to it as we see it in its early years on Hebrew soil. Then I want to study the development of that movement as it embraces the Gentile world and moves to the West as a result of missionary activities of individuals like Paul, Barnabas, and others.
Climatology - particularly the study of difficult and demanding weather conditions - is of major importance to pilots now that aeroplanes fly over previously unavailable routes such as the North Pole and take direct routes over very large oceans. Existing books on climatology address physical, biological or cultural environments and do not supply adequate information for the pilot. Nor do the present books on aviation meteorology provide sufficient detail on subjects such as arid climates, tropical storms and upper tropospheric winds and temperatures. This new book concentrates on aspects of climatology that are important for modern aviation, including temperature, precipitation, solar radiation, winds and regional climatic environments from around the world. Although the book has been written with the airline pilot in mind, it will also be an essential reference for Air Transport Pilot Licence training staff and for ATPL students. It will also be of interest to operational route planning staff and students of climatology.

A convincing account of a watershed epoch, Hattersley's concise yet comprehensive history casts new light on a much-misunderstood era." - Publishers Weekly Edwardian Britain has often been described as a golden sunlit afternoon---personified by its genial and self-indulgent King. In fact, modern Britain was born during the reign of Edward VII, when politics, science, literature, and the arts were turned upside down. In Parliament, the peers were crushed for the first time since Magna Carta. Irish nationalists and suffragettes took politics out on to the streets. Home Rule and Votes for Women were delayed, not precipitated, by the First World War. Great parliamentary stars such as Lloyd George and Winston Churchill typified an era in which personalities dominated the headlines of the new tabloid newspapers. It was the age of Rolls and Royce, Scott and Shackleton, Edward Elgar, Shaw, the Pankhursts, and Mrs. Alice Keppel, whose social life was reported without mention of her relationship with the King. The theater of ideas superseded drawing room dramas. Novelists of genius---from Henry James to D. H. Lawrence---produced a masterpiece each year. A London gallery caused a sensation with an exhibition of "Postimpressionists." Edward Elgar was the first English composer for two hundred years to stand comparison with the continental European masters. In sport, Victorian chivalry was replaced with unashamed professionalism. Man flew for the first time and the motorcar became a common sight on city streets. Physicists examined the structure of the atom and philosophers disputed the traditional definition of virtue. The churches tried, without success, to confront and confound a new skepticism. Explorers sought to prove that men could live, and die, like gods. Drawing on previously unpublished diaries and letters, Roy Hattersley's The Edwardians is a beguiling account of a turbulent and frequently misunderstood period. It is a full and often humorous portrait of an era that he elevates to its rightful place in British history.
Closing the cover, she stared down at the reason for her life on the run. The small body of her daughter, Raine, sleeping on the hotel bed, smeared dried chocolate ice cream on her rosy lips. Her first words tangled in a two-year old languageI am Christ. Father Mc Kenna tossed the folder down on his desk letting his eyes remain on the rain splattered window. Weighing out the common denominators, trying to justify and dispel what he was learning on his trip from the Vatican to the United States. All the children were born in the same year. They all told the same stories. Most importantly, they all searched for the one girl they claimed to Christ walking on earth again. If he took the job offered to him as a liaison between the States and the church, he would oversee the school designed to house all the children together, study them, analyze and scatter their creditability. Yet in the back of his mind, the question lingeredwhat if Christ had returned? Michael David stared out his binoculars at the mother and daughter playing in the backyard of their newest home. A cold chill ran up his spine as he recalled the typed black on white words written in the folder given to him by his commander General Frank Mc Gunther. No, surely not, it couldnt be this bright eyed little girl shaking off the cool water her mother sprayed on her with the garden hose, she looked so ordinary. If there was a God, He was surely playing a joke on all of them. Or so he thought.

At the age of 19 he attended Wheaton College, graduating in 1906. He became a Minister, before continuing his studies at Harvard University. Snell then moved to Alaska before joining the war effort serving with the Red Cross. WWI had interrupted his blossoming writing career, and upon his return from France Snell began writing in earnest. Many of his books drew on his own adventurous spirit and love of travel, and Snell went on to write over 70 young adult novels, many of which were also published under his pseudonyms, David O’Hara, James Craig and Joseph Marino. He died in 1959 at the age of 80.
