Peter Gunnarson Rambo, son of Gunnar Petersson, was born in about 1612 in Hisingen, Sweden. He came to America in 1640 and settled in Christiana, New Sweden (now Delaware). He married Brita Mattsdotter 7 April 1647. They had eight children. He died in 1698. HIs daughter, Gertrude Rambo, was born 19 October 1650. She married Anders Bengtsson. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina and Ohio.

Ronald McClure has written books about practical Christian living, among then being; "Angels Walking Among Us," "My Walking Stick and I," "Our Front Yard" and "Horse Tails, Dog Tails and Ronny's Tales." Mr. McClure is a 1979 graduate of East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. He and his wife of 29 years, Carole, have raised five children. Upon reading the hand written journals of Reverend John Thompson Price, Mr. McClure saw a great value in his writings and felt that they would be appreciated by many. This is the story of the life of Reverend John Thompson Price taken from his own, handwritten journals. He grew up in east Tennessee with many hardships just after the Civil War, living with his family on several different farms in the Cumberland Mountains and in the Sequatchie Valley in Wilson County, Tennessee. Red Bank, Cookeville, McMinnville, Cleveland, Chattanooga, Dayton, Sweetwater, Ocoee, Georgetown and Chestouie are just a few of the communities that he traveled to with a horse and buggy in the late 1800's and early 1900's. He later preached in Rockwall, Texas, Golden City, Missouri, and Centerview, Missouri, in the 1920's, 30's and 40's. Read of his romance and marriage to Miss Nettie Hickman from Dayton, Tennessee, and of their first church in Bel Buckle. This book includes lists of marriages performed by Reverend Price and genealogies of his family.

On April 1, 1865, the steamboat Bertrand, a sternwheeler bound from St. Louis to Fort Benton in Montana Territory, hit a snag in the Missouri River and sank twenty miles north of Omaha. The crew removed only a few items before the boat was silted over. For more than a century thereafter, the Bertrand remained buried until it was discovered by treasure hunters, its cargo largely intact. This book categorizes some 300,000 artifacts recovered from the Bertrand in 1968, and also describes the invention, manufacture, marketing, distribution, and sale of these products and traces their route to the frontier mining camps of Montana Territory. The ship and its contents are a time capsule of mid-nineteenth-century America, rich with information about the history of industry, technology, and commerce in the Trans-Missouri West. In addition to enumerating the items the boat was transporting to Montana, and offering a photographic sample of the merchandise, Switzer places the Bertrand itself in historical context, examining its intended use and the technology of light-draft steam-driven river craft. His account of steamboat commerce provides multiple insights into the industrial revolution in the East, the nature and importance of Missouri River commerce in the mid-1800s, and the decline in this trade after the Civil War. Switzer also introduces the people associated with the Bertrand. He has unearthed biographical details illuminating the private and social lives of the officers, crew members, and passengers, as well as the consignees to whom the cargo was being shipped. He offers insight into not only the passengers’ reasons for traveling to the frontier mining camps of Montana Territory, but also the careers of some of the entrepreneurs and political movers and shakers of the Upper Missouri in the 1860s. This unique reference for historians of commerce in the American West will also fascinate anyone interested in the technology and history of riverine transport.

In The Most Necessary Luxuries, Ronald Berger uses the Mercers' Company of Coventry to follow the eclipse of an entire trading community in one of England's premier medieval cities and manufacturing centers. Berger charts the difficulties faced by mercers and grocers in a growing capitalist economy and discusses their unsuccessful efforts to maintain their prosperity. The book helps to explain both the development of a new urban system and the rise of shops in Midland England. It shows how shops replaced markets and fairs and uses the economics of the fashion trades to explain why provincial shops could not overcome the competition put forward by the metropolis. The Most Necessary Luxuries unites the fields of social, urban, and economic history to explain the decline of a medieval city, the evolution of the English urban middle class, and the transformation from an amalgam of wealthy wholesalers and distributors of luxury goods to an association of mere shopkeepers. It demonstrates that the rise of commercial capitalism between 1550 and 1700 in England undermined the medieval economy that was based on protected markets, restrictive trading practices, and entrenched oligarchies that dominated towns.
