Due to a personnel error, a young Army Staff Sergeant is assigned to Vietnam as an Intelligence Annalist and immediately assigned to a combat unit where he led a POW Contact Team responsible for evaluating enemy prisoners. Knowing that if he determined the POWs were of no intelligence value, they would be turned over to the local South Vietnamese Commander, and would probably be executed. During this assignment he was involved in an ambush which left two of his team wounded. Then went on a covert assignment into Cambodia to find a downed pilot. When the MACV(Military Assistance Command Vietnam) Unit he was assigned to was reorganized the was mistakenly assigned to the 1st Air Cavalry Division just a day prior to the largest combat air lift in the Vietnam war. Within a six hour period an entire combat brigade including artillery was airlifted to within 4 miles of the besieged Marines at Khe Sanh. When MACV Headquarters located their missing Sergeant, he received orders reassigning from the 1st Air Cavalry back to MACV where he was assigned to a Phoenix Program assassination team made up of former Foreign Legionnaires that stayed in Vietnam after the French left. Recommended for this assignment by his old nemesis Jack Roark. Roark is allegedly a Cultural Attaché with the Embassy, but is in fact a C.I.A. case officer, and it is not the first time he has involved himself with the young Sergeant's career.

Murder is a Matter of Color is a racially charged murder mystery , a detective story set in an unnamed city somewhere in the United States. The story contains violence, death, fear, the drug trade, sex, honor, and retribution. The plot centers on a black police officer, Detective Roy Hines, and his struggle to obtain acceptance and inner peace in a bigoted community, while attempting to overcome numerous obstacles thrown in his path. Drugs are distributed from a restaurant, one of the finer dining establishments in the city. The owner, Paul Palmer, is forced under the threat of blackmail and endangerment to his family, to cooperate with the drug dealers. The local drug lord, Neal Peterson, posing as a respectable businessman is blackmailing the owner, Palmer, into cooperating with the drug dealers by threatening harm to his family. Money collected from the sale of the drugs is spent on the organization of a paramilitary Force: C.L.A.W., or Civil Liberties Are for Whites. This group is bent on keeping African Americans hooked on drugs and, therefore, forever downtrodden and beneath the white race. Aided by cohorts Ralph Manchetti and Colonel Bubba Dorcey. Peterson is determined to wreck havoc by instigating racial unrest while still collecting sufficient drug money to appease his suppliers. Peterson, through C.L.A.W., stages a mass demonstration which evolves into a full-blown riot and confrontation between the paramilitary force and the local police. A crime that goes horrendously wrong and ends in brutal murder brings Detective Roy Hines and his Sergeant, James Woodson, into the picture. It all started back in 1995, shortly before Christmas. I felt inspired to write a Christmas story, so I did. In all truthfulness it tore me up to write it, because my vision was not limited to my words. It made me remember what Christmas was really all about. At that time I decided to write a story each year for Christmas and give copies out as gifts. Each year the recipients of my stories would encourage me to publish them, ten years later I now have enough stories, and lack reasons not to. So I offer a collection of what I call for lack of a better title ‘Holiday Stories’. They carry a decided Christian slant and hopefully give reason to be thankful. Hopefully they bring as much joy as sadness, and a lot of thought moments. It’s difficult, to say the least, to try to describe this mixed bag of stories, especially when you know its only through the help of the Lord that the ideas and stories came into being. There is a similar central theme to many of the stories. There is that common thread of spirituality in the message of each story. The stories all are to bring a remembrance of Jesus Christ and what he did for sinful humankind. The stories are to illustrate a higher and purer love in sacrificial action in a world that we are all too familiar with. I hope you will enjoy these stories as much as I enjoyed writing them. And I pray the Lord that my words will convey the vision that I was granted when I wrote them.
