This book is a continuation of the book 'NOWHERE STREET', a story about Frankie Goushen, a young boy's early life in the cafes and dives of Cable Street in the 50's, in London's East-End. Nowhere Street tells of his time spent in an Approved School, of the bullying and spite which went on at the time. This book continues the story of Frankie's life, when he becomes involved with the Gangsters of the East-End. It depicts the times of the late 50's and the early 60's, of his fight to survive and the time spent in the different Prisons, Borstals and Institutions of the day. This is a tough book of hurt and pain, though through the dirt and the grime shines the light of social history and what was seen as normal in those days. While the tale is gritty and the words not for those with a softer disposition, the story can only be told to its strength and much is based on my earlier life.

Yet we have a God who grieves even more over the fact that spiritual leaders have failed to act as servants of Yahweh in this respect. Statistics suggest that in America one in four women has experienced physical violence in an intimate relationship. Dating violence, intimate-partner violence, and child abuse rank as some of our nation's largest problems. Men are also being abused by intimate partners, parents, or care providers at increasing rates. The statistic is even more alarming worldwide. Unfortunately, these statistics represent only reported incidents. The rates of verbal, emotional, and spiritual abuse are even higher. In addition, countless women are encouraged by clergy to return to their abusive spouses. The faith community, while called by God to free the oppressed, has been slow to respond to this sin against humanity. Few seminaries offer quality domestic-violence-prevention training for clergy. However, clergy still continue to be sought for help from the community and as advocates for victims of domestic violence. A partnership between the church and community (locally and abroad) is necessary if we wish to transform humans caught in this form of oppression. In Setting the Captives Free Ron Clark proposed a theology of addressing domestic violence and its application for clergy. Freeing the Oppressed is a book that seeks to condense Clark's previous work into a readable form for those seeking spiritual answers concerning abuse and batterer intervention, and for helpers of those caught in the cycle of family violence. It is also designed as an outreach for those seeking help from the faith community.

Bethlen Home By: Ron Cosentino In his memoir, Bethlen Home, Cosentino recalls the abrupt shift in his childhood that would alter the course of his life forever. The day after Christmas, as Cosentino and his brother and sister were still enthralled with their new toys and gifts, his mother left, giving the implication that she was going out on a date. In reality, she was seeking out an abortion in secret. In the early morning hours of December 27th, 1958, Cosentino's mother dies alone in the hospital from blood loss due to severe complications with her abortion. With the death of his mother rocking the family to its core, the three children are sent to the Bethlen Home, an orphanage run by the United Hungarian Reform Federation Church of America, and the place the kids would call home for nearly the rest of their childhoods. Still trying to process his grief, Cosentino writes about his complicated and transformative time at the Bethlen Home and how it ultimately made him who he is today.
