This story begins in the County of Cork in Ireland in the 1850s, at the time of potato famine. Life was hard and austere, with many of Ireland's young seeking to emigrate abroad, to escape starvation and to find work in the 'Promised' lands of America and Australia, though many also sought work in England, in Liverpool and London. This book describes the life and times of Michael O'Brien and his family, his wife Mary and his two children, Sam and Beth. It tells of Michael's need to leave his home and travel to London with his family in the hope of finding work in London. The only job he finds is as a 'Hole-Man', working in the open 'Cesspits', in diabolical conditions. The book goes on to follow the lives of Mary and then onto the daughter, Beth and, finally, to the son, Sam.
This book gives a description of the Sun-Signs in each of the Zodiac Signs, then placed within each of the Houses of that Zodiac Sign. This book is a useful tool for those already versed in the basics of Astrology.
This book is an autobiography of Ron S King, who lived a very different lifestyle. You will read of 'Gangsters and the 'Low-Life', the dregs of Society... Once a reader picks up this book, there will be difficulty in putting it down.
This small book is the third book of one hundred sonnets which stand in the shade of Shakespeare. I write this because I am only a shadow of the 'Bards' pen and, in all my years of writing and reading poetry, I have not yet seen anyone to match his craft. I hope you enjoyed the first and second volume of my Sonnets and I trust you will find the same enjoyment in this book and might reasonably await my next volume of contemporary Sonnets with a same appreciation. I thank you for your time and wish you a happy reading. Ron S King.
This book is a continuation of the book 'NOWHERE STREET', a story about Frankie Goushen, a young boy's early life in the cafes and dives of Cable Street in the 50's, in London's East-End. Nowhere Street tells of his time spent in an Approved School, of the bullying and spite which went on at the time. This book continues the story of Frankie's life, when he becomes involved with the Gangsters of the East-End. It depicts the times of the late 50's and the early 60's, of his fight to survive and the time spent in the different Prisons, Borstals and Institutions of the day. This is a tough book of hurt and pain, though through the dirt and the grime shines the light of social history and what was seen as normal in those days. While the tale is gritty and the words not for those with a softer disposition, the story can only be told to its strength and much is based on my earlier life.Ron S King.
This is a story about a man and a cat which mysteriously turns up in a cardboard box on his doorstep. What happens next is a continuous tale of fun and of characters of the Street who create havoc in the man's life. This story is narrated in a most humerous way and will give hours of fun and contains many humerous pictures.
This small book is the second book of one hundred sonnets which stand in the shade of Shakespeare. I write this because I am only a shadow of the 'Bards' pen and, in all my years of writing and reading poetry, I have not yet seen anyone to match his craft. I hope you enjoyed the first volume of my Sonnets and I trust you will find the same enjoyment in this book and might reasonably await the next volume with a same appreciation. This book gives an insight into the hilarious antics of some elderly folk in a residential home. It has to be understood that none of the characters exist and the write is very 'Tongue in Cheek', with no intention of portraying what goes on in this book as intending to portray reality. This write is reality gone mad and derived from the author's imagination. In this book the reader will meet such characters as the formidable Mrs. Anderson, Humpy-Jack and Jim-Jams, elderly folk whom represent those that Doctors and Nursing Staff would not care to meet, they are the lost souls of St. Trinians and the residential home is where they are placed, to continue a life of mayhem. Ron S King.
This is a book which explains the mysticism of the planet Saturn and its connection to our behaviour from birth. It is an exercise in fun and explains how, with understanding, one can lighten up the life.
I have entitled this book of some 300 Sonnets... 'A SHADE OF SHAKESPEARE'. This stems from my admiration for the 'Bard' and his works. If it's said that I have tried to imitate his style then, of course I have. It is soon noticed that, while each sonnet does have three quatrains and an ending couplet, while each line has ten syllables to each, I do not borrow the need of any iambic pentameters. In this light I would call my sonnets 'Contemporary Sonnets.' This work covers the three small books of 100 sonnets in each which are already out there in public domain. I trust that you read and enjoy this book and find it a delicate company during an evening's read. Ron S King.
This book is a tongue-in-cheek look at how two men deal with astrology and the consequences, as they travel through the trials and ordeals, through the astrological dating-scene and into the confines of prison... A great deal of fun and the ridiculous!
