Today, black players compose more than eighty percent of the National Basketball Association?s rosters, providing a strong and valued contribution to professional basketball. In the first half of the twentieth century, however, pro basketball was taintedøby racism, as gifted African Americans were denied the opportunity to display their talents. ø Through in-depth interviews with players, their families, coaches, teammates, and league officials, Ron Thomas tells the largely untold story of what basketball was really like for the first black NBA players, including recent Hall of Fame inductee Earl Lloyd, early superstars such as Maurice Stokes and Bill Russell, and the league?s first black coaches. They Cleared the Lane is both informative and entertaining, full of anecdotes and little-known history. Not all the stories have happy endings, but this unfortunate truth only emphasizes how much we have gained from the accomplishments of these pioneer athletes.

Religions of this world in its history, would number as many as the stars. Religion has been central in forming nations from antiquity. In the beginning there was one God, one faith. After the Flood of Noah, in short time Nimrods babylonish religious teachings eventually infiltrated every religion known to man its apostate religion, even to Christendom. Religions of this world have failed mankind miserably, with Christendom at the forefront. The scandelouse expose of homosexual and pedophile priest and ministers is an outrage and is only the tip of the ice burg. They shall reap what they have shown. Matthew 7:22:23; Titus 1:6. Religion Needs Truth and Purity We must obey God as Ruler rather than men New Book exposes corruption existing in Christendom Philadelphia, PA Religions of this world in its history, would number as many as the stars. Religion has been central in forming nations from antiquity. In the beginning there was one God, one faith. After the Flood of Noah, in short time Nimrods Babylonish religious teachings eventually infiltrated every religion in its apostate teachings, including Christendom. The teachings of Christendom are at opposite ends of the pure teachings of Christianity that Christ taught to his early disciples. Christendom has always persecuted the true Christians over the centuries, even to death. The harlots meddling in the politics of the world has brought on untold misery and suffering on mankind for almost 1700 years now. This book exposes her harlotry and false teachings that have misled, and are misleading those that wish to please God. Concerning this harlot they shall reap what they have sown. Revelation 17:1,2,5,6,18 and18:3. Xlibris releases Ron C. Kimreys compelling new book Mea-Culpa. The text is a comprehensive realization of how religion has played the major role in the development of government and society in the main, from Eden until our present time. Readers will discover how precisely the philosophy and traditions of man had taken over the daily movements of mankind whether we are aware of it or not. The book looks at false teachings and how they crept into Christendom, which is a very far cry from the Christianity that Jesus Christ first taught, and at the same time it exposes Apostate Christendom as the Harlot of Revelation. Interestingly, this book also explores some details about the homosexual and pedophile scandals of the Catholic Church and her priesthood, which reveals the harlots corruption within. With its daring views and in-depth details, Mea-Culpa is a striking book to read as it reveals just how corrupt Christendom has always been since its inception from the time of the death of Christs apostles, and how religion has failed because It has not practiced the truth of Gods INSPIRED WORD, THE HOLY BIBLE. Furthermore, Kimreys book shows that Christendoms hatred of the truth has caused unmentionable suffering on true Christians and mankind itself. Mea-Culpa is now available for ordering online at Xlibris.com and at your local book retailer.
A call for the church, the whole church, to enter into a serious conversation about the spiritual nourishment of our children Conversations about children and faith draw us close to the heart of God, among the people of God, these talks are justifiably nuanced and passionate. The authors of "Along the Way" lead everyone in the church, parents, grandparents, teachers, friends, ministers, and leaders, in a careful yet understandable dialogue about nurturing children spiritually. Along the way, we discover that the individuality of each child and the distinctiveness of their context call us to see each child's walk with God as a unique journey of discovery. We also learn that sharing these paths with children changes and bless us at least as much as it does them.
Laws have colonised most of the corners of political practice, and now substantially determine the process and even the product of democracy. Yet analysis of these laws of politics has been hobbled by a limited set of theories about politics. Largely absent is the perspective of deliberative democracy – a rising theme in political studies that seeks a more rational, cooperative, informed, and truly democratic politics. Legal and political scholarship often view each other in reductive terms. This book breaks through such caricatures to provide the first full-length examination of whether and how the law of politics can match deliberative democratic ideals. Essential reading for those interested in either law or politics, the book presents a challenging critique of laws governing electoral politics in the English-speaking world. Judges often act as spoilers, vetoing or naively reshaping schemes meant to enhance deliberation. This pattern testifies to deliberation’s weak penetration into legal consciousness. It is also a fault of deliberative democracy scholarship itself, which says little about how deliberation connects with the actual practice of law. Superficially, the law of politics and deliberative democracy appear starkly incompatible. Yet, after laying out this critique, The Law of Deliberative Democracy considers prospects for reform. The book contends that the conflict between law and public deliberation is not inevitable: it results from judicial and legislative choices. An extended, original analysis demonstrates how lawyers and deliberativists can engage with each other to bridge their two solitudes.

A growing number of both established and newly developed doctoral programs are focusing on the preparation of practitioners rather than career researchers. Professional doctorates such as the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Education (EdD), Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), Doctor of Professional Studies (DProf or DPS), and the Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) are, in fact, just a few of the professional doctorates being offered today. Professional doctorates are the fastest growing segment of doctoral education. The nature of the dissertation and the process of completing a dissertation can be quite different in a professional practice doctoral program but there are few resources for both students and faculty involved in completing and mentoring such dissertations. This book was written specifically for students and faculty involved in professional practice dissertation work. It addresses both the tasks and procedures that professional practice dissertations have in common with dissertations in "research" doctoral programs as well as the tasks and issues that are more common in professional practice doctoral programs. For example, negotiating entry into applied settings and securing the cooperation of practicing professionals is covered, as are alternative models for the dissertation (e.g., the "three article dissertation" or "TAD"). The book also covers tasks such as getting IRB approval for applied dissertation research conducted in the field and how to propose and carry out studies based on applied and professional models of research. This book, written by three experienced mentors of professional practice dissertation students, is the comprehensive guide for both students and faculty.
