The Camino―or The Way―to Santiago is a five-hundred-mile, thirty-three-day walk across Spain's extreme conditions to reach the beloved Cathedral of Santiago. Ron “Willie” Williams walked The Way two and a half times, a total of twelve hundred miles. Why? It is less about what he gains, and more about what he loses along The Way―old behaviors, unforgiveness, and a tendency to play God. Journey with Willie through the chapters of Lost and Found Along The Way, as he sheds these tendencies, and in doing so finds a renewed, richer, and deeper faith. The first few chapters are narrative historical fiction portraying James in Acts 12:2 facing his execution along with supposed reactions from his loved ones. At the end of this narrative, we transition back to nonfiction with the discovery of James' gravesite some eight hundred years after his martyrdom. Willie then explains how the Camino pilgrimages began along the Camino, also known as, The Way. No other nonfiction book offers such a unique back story of Saint James and the Camino. The following chapters, and the bulk of the book, follow Willie's own Camino journeys, present vivid descriptions of the geography on the trail and historical background provide readers with a nearly firsthand experience of The Camino de Santiago. True and dramatic faith walk stories demonstrate God's hand in people's lives and guide readers to dig deeper into their own spiritual life and get outside their comfort zone. The final chapter of Lost and Found Along The Way instructs fellow sojourners in how to follow Willie's example to strengthen their own faith and share it with those who have lost their own faith―no hiking boots required.
Many people love the American Southwest without truly understanding it. Ross Randall Calvin did and we are the richer for it. Calvin began his search as a pilgrim health-seeker, believing he had left the “known world” behind when he fled the East for New Mexico. There he soon found to our benefit that he could use his observational skills and intellect to fashion a picture that helped him and us comprehend those unique factors that make New Mexico what it is—its history, people, culture, climate, and so much more. Those lessons learned he shared with us. His books and essays can open our eyes to New Mexico if we but heed them. Calvin’s story as discoverer and interpreter unfolds in rich detail in this essential work.
Leadbetter's book offers behind-the-scenes information in a, here-to-fore, unpublished history from the Office of Associate General Counsel for the University of Tennessee. All events discussed come from his personal knowledge and years of meticious notetaking covering a period from 1967 to the present. The book, over 600 pages in length, takes readers through the years of his life that Leadbetter lived to the fullest. Beginning with his role as a student leader of conservative orientation during the tumultuous years of the late 1960s and early '70s, the book moves to Leadbetter's surprising hire by the University as its first law clerk in the Office of General Counsel, only days after completion of litigation brought against the University by Leadbetter to obtain in-state classification.

Key thinkers surveyed include C. H. Dodd, Rudolph Bultmann, Raymond Brown, Leon Morris, and R. Alan Culpepper. An introduction and conclusion by general editors Stanley Porter and Ron Fay trace the development of Johannine scholarship from F. C. Baur to the present, and examine how these eight scholars' contributions to Johannine studies have shaped the field. Anyone interested in the recent history of the study of John will find this volume indispensable.

Crossing Boundaries in the Americas, Vietnam, and the Middle East is the personal, yet profoundly political first-person account of one man's unique interracial and interfaith leadership roles over five decades in movements for civil rights, against the Vietnam War, and for Arab-Israeli-Palestinian peace. Ron Young's story, told with honesty, humility, and humor, gives an insider view of key events in these movements and personalizes a significant strain of modern American history not often afforded sufficient attention in either the textbooks or the mainstream press. This book is an important read for anyone interested in these issues and movements. It should be recommended reading for students in colleges and high schools.
How did a Jewish teacher, healer, sage and mystic become the vehicle for so much hatred and harm directed against his own people? “Dialogue is demanding and difficult. It is often painful. It entails deep listening, letting others define themselves and being willing to confront and transform deep-rooted prejudices in ourselves. It requires the courage to re-envision absolutely everything we tend to cherish and protect, and to relinquish our entrenched vainglorious ego attachments, our inflated sense of ‘I, me and mine.’ This challenge to grow beyond tribalism, to approach others in a fair and reasonable way, is an essential step in our human evolution.” —from the Invitation to the Reader Judaism and Christianity have had a volatile relationship in their two-thousand-year history. Anger, rivalry, insensitivity, bloodshed and murder have marred the special connection these two Abrahamic faiths share. In the last several decades, scholars, activists, laypeople and clergy have attempted to expose and eliminate the struggles between Jews and Christians. This collaborative effort brings together the voices of Christian scholar Ron Miller and Jewish scholar Laura Bernstein to further explore the roots of anti-Semitism in Christian faith and scripture. In a probing interfaith dialogue, Miller and Bernstein trace the Jewish-Christian schism to its very source in the first book of the New Testament, the Gospel of Matthew. Illuminating the often misunderstood context of Matthew’s gospel—a persecuted Christian minority writing some sixty years after Jesus’s death—this examination of a foundational Christian text discerns the ways in which the Jewishness of Jesus was forgotten and Jews and Judaism became Christianity’s foil. More important, it takes a renewed look at Matthew with contemporary retellings that present a new and better future of conciliation and compassion between the two faith traditions.

Ron Austin first wandered purposefully into Mexico more than fifty years ago, when he produced a documentary on Mexican history for American television. Over the next decades, as his acquaintance with Mexico deepened, so too did his appreciation for the rich and contradictory impulses of Mexican culture and for the beauty of its people and their expressions of faith. At once guidebook, history, memoir, and tribute, Austin s Peregrino engagingly explores the spiritual and cultural heart of Catholic Mexico. Though once merely a tourist peering in a stranger to this distinctive faith and culture Austin, now a devout Catholic and part-year resident of Mexico, writes with respect, affection, and deep understanding as he invites fellow pilgrims peregrinos to regard both Mexico and their own cultures of faith in a new light.
First full-length survey of Reading Abbey, one of the most important ecclesiastical buildings of the Middle Ages. Reading Abbey was built by King Henry I to be a great architectural statement and his own mausoleum, as well as a place of resort and a staging point for royal itineraries for progresses in the west and south-west of England. Fromthe start it was envisaged as a monastic site with a high degree of independence from the church hierarchy; it was granted enormous holdings of land and major religious relics to attract visitors and pilgrims, and no expense wasspared in providing a church comparable in size and splendour with anything else in England. However, in architectural terms, the abbey has, until recently, remained enigmatic, mainly because of the efficiency with which itwas destroyed at the Reformation. Only recently has it become possible to bring together the scattered evidence - antiquarian drawings and historic records along with a new survey of the standing remains - into a coherent picture. This richly illustrated volume provides the first full account of the abbey, from foundation to dissolution, and offers a new virtual reconstruction of the church and its cloister; it also shows how the abbey formed the backdropto many key historical events. Ron Baxter is the Research Director of the Corpus of Romanesque Sculpture in Britain and Ireland.

Captain Meadows had a worried call from an old friend and asked Trooper Penny Rossiter to stop on her way home after shift to check on the old man. It was eleven miles out Funny River Road to the home of Gus Sampson. Gus told the small red-haired, pretty, trooper he was worried about a friend who lived up the road, asking her to please check on him. She allowed Gus to ride along. Arriving at the cabin she asked him to wait while she checked it out. She found Will Goodson beaten to death in his own living room. Penny called the crime scene team to investigate. The five member team headed by David Haskins collected evidence as Penny took Gus back to his cabin. While returning home she had a call asking her to fly a search mission looking for two blond sisters and their young boys missing on Resurrection Trail between Hope and Cooper Landing, Alaska. This file, too, became a cold case. Later she went to the Goodson cabin to check on it and as she approached it she was fired upon and nearly killed. She was medically retired and David Haskins took up the search for the answers to her unsolved cases. His association with the young lady trooper, now lawyer, leads them to a personal affair and finally marriage. In the process he uncovers a drug ring, murdered drug dealers and users as well as an upstanding citizen who is somehow connected to all this illegal happening. This is an endless, frustrating chase from the first file to the last.

Ron Pearson was born in Bramley, Leeds on August 12, 1924. He began writing this book on August 12, 2021, his 97th birthday. After a childhood beset by illness, he left school at 14, and took a job packing parcels in a multiple tailoring factory, not for him. He moved on to packing parcels general muggins at an advertising agency at 50 pence a week, which he loved. His career in advertising was interrupted by a four-and-a-half-year spell in the army on ‘Special Operations’. Returning to civvy street, his career culminated in being appointed Managing Director and then Chairman of one of Yorkshire’s most respected advertising agencies. He was a local actor for almost 50 years including the renowned Bradford Alhambra and Playhouse. There are some sad moments outnumbered by many hilarious ones. Ron’s beloved wife, Pat, died in 2017 after 66 years of happy marriage. The list of ‘celebrities’ he has met is impressive, including Princess Margaret, Prince Charles, Hollywood’s Marlene Dietrich, George Raft, Sir Ralph Richardson, George Best, Jackie Charlton, Harry Worth, Alan Bennett etc.

The Chase is the second of the three-volume continuum entitled The Hunt. Volume 1 was entitled The Search. It recorded my search for historical documents that confirmed the truth about the life of Jesus, as recorded in the four Gospels of the Bible. Volume 2, The Chase, is a record of the application of the documentation found in The Search, to the truth regarding the life of Jesus, as recorded in the four Gospels of the Bible. Volume 3, The Find, will use historical documents found and applied to the life of Jesus to identify and conform his position as Messiah, forgiving Savior and Eternal King. The second volume, The Chase, of the set of three explores the earthly life of Jesus within the context of known Greco-Roman history, customs, philosophies, and manners of the time. Jesus was born into this world during the time of the Roman emperor Caesar Augustus (January 27 BC to August 14 AD). He lived, ministered and was put to death during the reign of Roman emperor Caesar Tiberius (September 14 AD to March 37 AD). Jesus was born into part of the world governed by Herod the Great, a vassal king appointed by the emperor.
