This book describes the technologies involved in all aspects of a large networking system and how the various devices can interact and communicate with each other. Using a bottom up approach the authors demonstrate how it is feasible, for instance, for a cellular device user to communicate, via the all-purpose TCP/IP protocols, with a wireless notebook computer user, traversing all the way through a base station in a cellular wireless network (e.g., GSM, CDMA), a public switched network (PSTN), the Internet, an intranet, a local area network (LAN), and a wireless LAN access point. The information bits, in travelling through this long path, are processed by numerous disparate communication technologies. The authors also describe the technologies involved in infrastructure less wireless networks.

Heaven and hell are separated by the earth as a mezzanine. All of us are sent here to the earth for a short term course before we could determine our next destination after death. There’s no right or wrong. Both heaven and hell gates are open as a choice for us all. You will never understand each side of the story until you set foot there. People from hell will never want to enter heaven, and the same goes to people in heaven. But how sure are you have that all the people in hell are bad? Likewise, not all people in heaven are well-behaved. Don’t ever judge a person based on other people’s comments, unless you’re inside him and feel the same way he does. Life is about a choice. IF HEAVEN, DON’T LOOK BACK TO HELL; IF HELL, ENJOY IT.

There are two areas in which Christians tend to struggle consistently. Most agree that all Christians have to deal with the devil, but do all Christians know they have to deal with themselves— their soul and their body? The Soul: Renew Your Mind To Save Your Soul is an indispensable book that reveals profound truths. It is an enlightening, line-upon-line examination of Biblical Scripture that conveys the significance and responsibility each Christian has to invest their time with God and pore over His WORD on a daily basis that they may be victorious in this life, and not just in Heaven. “This is a message to bring enlightenment and knowledge. If we desire, we’ll come up to it, and we’ll walk in greater victory.” - Rev. Ricky Edwards
Robert Banes is no super-action hero. He's just a father, a man like any other man--that is, at least, until the evil and greed of people with little regard for the rights of others with whom they share the planet violently torture and murder his son. The police were more interested in labeling Robby a gang member involved with drugs and violence than in searching for the people responsible for his demise. Armed with only a page of names and figures torn from a ledger, a ziplock bag of illegal drugs, he sets out to gather information that will clear his son's name and hopefully convince police of a criminal element they say does not exist in their town. His clumsy poking about and asking questions around the docks makes someone nervous enough to put a stop to it. Even after being found on the docks, the back of his head bashed in, the police still refuse to take him seriously. He is, after all, just another distraught, grieving father who finds himself a victim of a crime. These frustrating events conspire to transform the usually mild-mannered widower into an instrument of bitterness and rage. From this moment on, his only reason for living is to locate and punish the people who have destroyed his world. Unfortunately for Banes, the organization he takes on is more powerful and just as determined. Before he knows what hit him, the only two people left for him to love in this world are targeted. His girlfriend is molested and threatened, and a street kid named Billy who'd helped him at the dock has been kidnapped. This leaves Banes with only one option: hit back even harder.

Algernon Charles Swinburne (1837-1909) was one of the literary sensations of the Victorian period. His iconoclastic poetry and prose challenged attitudes to sex, politics, religion and censorship. Not only writing some of the most original lyric poetry of the time and pioneering criticism, Swinburne became a cultural icon. In the 1860s his very name was a symbol of progressive forces emerging in a repressive age. Readers across the world identified with the paganism and humanism of his poetry. Swinburne's was a turbulent life lived against a backdrop of beautiful settings in the Isle of Wight and Northumberland, and shared with a host of Victorian luminaries, or artists and writers such as D G Rossetti, Elizabeth Siddal, Burne-Jones, Morris and Simeon Solomon. It is a life touched by early tragedy and romantic disappointment, by extraordinary fame and abject loneliness, by masochism and alcoholism, but above all by an unquenchable vivacity. At the centre was the charmingly spoken, excitable genius whom Burne-Jones described as 'quite the most poetic personality I have ever known.' the artistic prodigy who seemed to have read almost everything, who was as happy revelling in the sea as in literary discourse. Based on new research and many unpublished letters, Rikky Rooksby sheds light on Swinburne's personality and relationships, and discusses how Swinburne's poetry develops from early pessimism to a recovered joy in the energies of the natural world. This biography is a sympathetic and fresh account of one of the most colourful figures in English literature.
They thought they'd conquered him, thought they'd put him out of commission, thought they were rid of him forever. Him, the most diabolical criminal mind the world has ever known. Him, the serial killer who made all those before him look like choirboys. Well, they were wrong. All of them. Far from being done, he'd discovered a challenge nearly as exciting as was his hobby withering the souls of men. Randolph Dorfman couldn't remember a time when he hadn't wanted to be a FBI Agent. Not a badge toting, gun wielding street agent either. He could have signed up for any number of law enforcement possibilities for that. No, he wanted a position which allowed him to study the thoughts and actions of the criminal mind putting him in a position to out think and out maneuver future actions. Never had he considered that such a position would land him in a deadly game of cat and mouse, pitting him thought for thought with possibly thy most diabolical serial killer the world has ever known. But it had, with serious consequences to his marriage, his freedom, his friends, and his very life. If he is to survive, theirs is a contest he can't afford to lose.

Focusing on a period that saw fundamental changes in the nature and content of astronomy, including the rise of astrophysics, Lankford has compiled remarkable data, such as the number of people with and without doctorates, the number who taught in colleges or universities versus those involved in industrial or government work, and the number of women versus men. He also addresses the crucial question of power within the community - what it meant, which astronomers had it, and what they did with it.
Everyday worship practices--from praying the rosary to moments of recognizing the beauty of God's creation, from being moved by the power of music to praying Vespers on an iPad--not only take place at different locations and during different days of the week but also dynamically interact with one another. The Liturgy of Life examines the interrelationship between the practice of Sunday Eucharist and the many nonofficial worship practices that mark the everyday lives of Christians who continually negotiate the boundaries of official teaching on liturgy. Drawing on the writings of theologians and sociologists of lived religion and data from an ethnographic research project, this timely work stretches the contextual horizon of liturgical scholarship and presents a provocative and dynamic paradigm of Christian worship for the twenty-first century.
In this richly detailed and prodigiously researched book, jazz scholar and musician Ricky Riccardi reveals for the first time the genius and remarkable achievements of the last 25 years of Louis Armstrong’s life, providing along the way a comprehensive study of one of the best-known and most accomplished jazz stars of our time. Much has been written about Armstrong, but the majority of it focuses on the early and middle stages of his career. During the last third of his career, Armstrong was often dismissed as a buffoonish if popular entertainer. Riccardi shows us instead the inventiveness and depth of his music during this time. These are the years of his highest-charting hits, including “Mack the Knife” and “Hello, Dolly"; the famed collaborations with Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington; and his legendary recordings with the All Stars. An eminently readable and insightful book, What a Wonderful World completes and enlarges our understanding of one of America’s greatest and most beloved musical icons.
We live in a high tech world. With digital televisions, computers, cell phones, IPODS, and video games out there, one can become overwhelmed. There’s technology out there to do almost everything for us. When was the last time you sat down with pen and paper and did a simple math problem? You know, add, subtract, multiply, or divide. Calculators and computers can do this for us. Most of us have to do business with banks. Many of you have felt that you’ve been cheated or just plain taken advantage of by banks. There are high interest rates, overdraft fees, other fees and other hidden cost. You might be surprised to find out that banks will take money from your account without any accountability. You had better brush up on your math skills. I served in the United States Air Force and lived in several states and in Great Britain. Over the past 38 years, I’ve had bank accounts in the United States and abroad. My story is about my encounters with only four of these banks. One good and three that was not so pleasant. Money was taken from my accounts without accountability. I’ll show you how I was able to keep track of their actions and finally what I did about it.
Are black men naturally violent? Do they define manhood in the same way as their counterparts across lines of race? Are black Greek-letter fraternities among the most dangerous student organizations on American college and university campuses? Can their often-dangerous initiation processes be stopped or even modified and, if not, what should be done about them? In this second edition of Black Haze, Ricky L. Jones takes on these questions and more. The first edition was an enlightening and sometimes disturbing examination of American men's quest for acceptance, comfort, reaffirmation, and manhood in a world where their footing is often unstable. In this new edition Jones not only provides masterful philosophical and ethical analyses but he also forces the engagement of a terrifying real world process that damages and kills students with all too frequent regularity. With a revealing new preface and stunning afterword, Jones immerses the reader in an intriguing and dark world marked by hypermasculinity, unapologetic brutality, and sometimes death. He offers a compelling book that ranges well beyond the subject of hazing—one that yields perplexing questions and demands difficult choices as we move forward in addressing issues surrounding fraternities, violent hazing, black men, and American society.

For all these years I've told stories. Sometimes these days I also tell them on the radio. I've met some amazing people and their stories need told too. The first time Deacon Blue ever played Wembley Arena I started to introduce a song only to hear, "Get on with it" shouted from Row Z. We proceeded with the song, but I often thought I'd quite like to finish that story.' In 1986, Ricky Ross started a full-time career in music, which has lasted for over 35 years. His earlier working life was spent in youth work and teaching in his home city of Dundee, and his adopted home of Glasgow. It was in these two cities where he spent his formative years learning how to write and play songs. Having always written about the people and places who've made an impact on his life, it's no surprise that this is how he has approached Walking Back Home, his first ever memoir, which takes the reader on a journey from Ricky's childhood to the rollercoaster of leading his band to top of the charts and their break-up, his solo career and Deacon Blue's recent renaissance.

Learn how and why trauma is relevant to juvenile delinquencyand what to do about it! This groundbreaking book addresses the connection between childhood trauma and juvenile delinquency. Trauma and Juvenile Delinquency: Theory, Research, and Interventions begins with two chapters presenting theoretical models of the relationship between trauma and the development/persistence of antisocial behavior. Another chapter addresses trauma-related assessment issues for juveniles, and several chapters present cutting-edge research on various aspects of the relationship between trauma and delinquency. Finally, several chapters focus on theory-based and empirically supported trauma-focused therapeutic interventions for juvenile delinquents. No other single source provides such breadth and depth of coverage on this topic! From the editor: Disruptive behavior disorders are by far the largest type of mental health referral for children and adolescents, while juvenile crime and violence continue to be major social concerns. Several bodies of literature have converged to suggest that trauma is more than incidental to the problem of juvenile delinquency, it contributes to the problem. Trauma and Juvenile Delinquency: Theory, Research, and Interventions explores: how trauma relates to conduct disorder the connection between traumatic victimization and oppositional/defiance problems ways to assess PTSD in adolescents how exposure to violence, delinquent activity, and posttraumatic stress symptomatology are related the unique trauma histories of incarcerated girls and the problems they have adjusting to life within the juvenile justice system how to develop group therapy services for incarcerated male juvenile offenders with PTSD This valuable book also examines the effectiveness of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for boys with conduct problems, MASTR (Motivation - Adaptive Skills - Trauma Resolution) for teens with school-related problems, and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) for juvenile delinquents with post-traumatic stress disorder.

From the time of early settlement in Virginia, water-powered mills played a primary role in the state's economy. This work provides an overview of grain milling in Floyd County, Virginia, from 1770 to the present day. Topics covered include the difficulties involved in identifying early mills, the importance of mill site selection, water wheel types, laws regulating mills, the decline of milling and physical remains of abandoned mill sites. The main body of the book provides individual histories of 140 grist, flour, and feed mills, a few of which also processed wool. The histories are based primarily on oral histories, title deed records, and local newspapers. More than 100 photographs and maps supplement the text, and tables provide production figures for various mills from industrial censuses of 1850, 1870, and 1880.
Relationships aren't made in heaven, and God doesn't send a man or a woman your way; like they magically fall out the sky. There are no secret formulas to finding the perfect mate, one thing is for certain: God never meant for men and women to be alone in this world. One of God's plans for man is; men and women are to be mated. Genesis 2:18 tells us, "e;And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a help meet for him"e;. Knowing just that quote should give anyone the hope of finding Mr. Right and Mrs. Forever After. Stop trying to act a certain way and think like the opposite sex because no one can tell you what a person's is thinking. The best relationships are those built on principles, respect, and so much more. Remember this, Women are not objects and Men are not sugar daddies. Love is out there waiting for you. Go find it.
This latest work is far more casual in content than in times past, including letters not originally intended for publication, but upon review, the author thought: Why the hell not? Beyond the epistolaries, lotsa food, which is more usual, including but not limited to chocolate, pancakes, waffles, Milky Ways, sweet potatoes (or yams if you prefer), fish and plastic fish, Fizzies, Potassium Citrate, mangos, pizza, piazzas and chukkas, the latter of which you can only eat at times of extreme stress, but why you would do that, I don't know. If you know, send me a note. My address is: Ricky @ 105 Fidelity Street Apt. B-35 Carrboro, North Carolina 27510. Don't forget to include the apartment number. The mailman can get really testy if there is no apartment number listed.
One day a person is going to see your name somewhere on some piece of paper. When they inquire about you, what are they going to find out? Life is the same for all of us. We live, and we die. What makes us different is how we live it. Throughout my years as a football player at the University of Nebraska and my time in the USFL and NFL, I made decisions that were not in my best interest. While battling demons and opposition that are common to us all, I made mistakes that could have taken me out. However, here I am, still living and still loving. With that love, it is my hope that by sharing my story, I can help someone see a light of perseverance and forgiveness in areas where darkness is present. I want to help somebody live life to the fullest. Or, as I say, live life like another day in paradise.
