With all of this trouble brewing on the horizon, Rick realizes too late that he should have seen it coming; now, a woman is dead, and there is no shortage of suspects, most of whom are family. In this darkly funny drama, Rick Tuber brings us the story of the ultimate dysfunctional family. The narration is sharp and humorous, compelling you to laugh at the characters as much as you dread the consequences of their selfish choices and hapless actions. At its heart, Should Have Seen It Coming is a clever, cautionary tale about the tragedy that grows out of stupidity, greed, and revenge--but you can rest assured that you will chuckle the whole way through.

Author Rick Tuber takes readers on an amusing and chaotic ride in this, a "noirmedy" (noir + comedy) that is the unravelling of Rick Potter's sequel to Should Have Seen It Coming. His particular brand of humor in the darkest of situations will compel you to laugh at the characters as much as dreading the consequences.

Life is predictably random, and no one knows that better than the recently retired Rob Turner who spends his days watching reruns on TV, sitting on his patio deck drinking whisky, and waiting for his wife Susan to return home from work. His carefree (ok, boring) existence is shattered when his doctor delivers the devastating news that he has less than a year to live. Hoping to spare his family the pain of waiting for him to die, Rob decides to keep his diagnosis to himself. When Susan comes home from work one day and finds Rob deep in conversation with a squirrel, she suggests he get out of his rut by taking a trip. Rob jumps at the opportunity, and within days he embarks on a month-long bucket list-adventure to Scotland. Though his looming death is constantly on his mind, Rob enjoys a couple of weeks touring the distilleries, lochs, and castle ruins of the Scottish Highlands. The last stop on his tour is the Isle of Islay, and it’s there that he meets two people who will change his outlook on life: Mia, an attractive British widow who brings him to the brink of temptation, and Moses, a Scottish shaman of sorts who, upon hearing of Rob’s impending death, predicts a much happier ending for him. Rob boards his flight back to LA feeling renewed, refreshed, and ready to face his destiny, whatever it may be. He can’t wait to see Susan and share a few surprises he has for her, not the least of which is coming clean about his diagnosis. Will it be the reunion made in heaven that he’s hoping for? When life is predictably random, it’s anybody’s guess.

In a society obsessed with exposing the underbellies of its heroes, Sisler’s lack of a dark side may explain why less has been written about him than others. Although Sisler was a shy, serious sort who often shunned publicity, his story is filled with its own share of controversy and drama, from a lengthy struggle among major-league moguls for his contractual rights—a battle that helped change the structure of organized baseball forever—to a job-threatening eye disorder he developed during the peak of his career and popularity. By including excerpts from Sisler’s unpublished memoir, as well as references to the national and international events that took place during his heyday, Huhn reveals the full picture of this family man who overcame great obstacles, stood on high principles, and left his mark on a game he affected in a positive way for fifty-eight years.
