The celestial convergence drew near, and the realms held their collective breath in anticipation. Elysium's guardians, now fortified with the wisdom of the Celestials and the strength of their interdimensional alliances, stood at the forefront of this cosmic event. They understood that the fate of the multiverse hinged upon their ability to guide the convergence towards a harmonious culmination. In the final days leading up to the convergence, the guardians and their allies engaged in intricate rituals, weaving spells and forging cosmic sigils to channel and shape the energies that would converge. They established sanctuaries across the realms, centers where beings from all walks of life could gather to lend their energy and intentions to the celestial endeavor. At these sanctuaries, representatives from each realm shared their stories, knowledge, and experiences, fostering a deep understanding and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of existence. Beings who were once strangers became allies, bound together by a shared purpose and a desire to safeguard the cosmic symphony. The guardians delved into ancient prophecies and sacred texts, searching for clues and insights into the precise nature of the convergence. They discovered that the convergence was not simply a collision of energies, but a profound opportunity for transcendence—a moment when the barriers between realms would become porous, allowing for the exchange of energies and ideas on an unprecedented scale. As the convergence approached, the realms began to resonate in harmony, their energies intertwining like threads in a cosmic tapestry. The guardians, guided by their intuition and the collective wisdom of the council, channeled their energies into intricate rituals, infusing the convergence with intentions of unity, harmony, and enlightenment.

This working paper presents the results of the Pakistan Component of the Rice-Wheat Consortium Project on ‘Sustaining the rice-wheat production systems of Asia’. Rice and wheat crops are main nsources of human food and substantially contribute to feeding livestock. The advent of the green revolution in the 1960s resulted in a tremendous increase in the production of these two cereal crops and the rice-wheat cropping system emerged as a very important source of food supply in South Asia. Recent symptoms of stagnant growth rates in productivity and the degradation of the resource base pose serious challenges to future food security and natural resources management in the region. The growing scarcity of water in the region
The first lesson is that success looks like whatever your patient describes it as ... Some want to be pain free, to breathe a little easier, to make it to their grand-daughter's wedding ... to be with their cats. Some want me to do everything I can to cure them, while others want to die soon." Geriatric care and the frailty of old age can sometimes be reduced to a pain score chart rather than an inevitability that needs to be approached with humanity and empathy. Dr Riaz Dharamshi combines his expertise knowledge as a nationally recognised geriatrician with the relatable, deeply empathetic stories of his patients in order to reframe the way we approach care for our elderly population. This empowering and socio-politically conscious book delves into theoretical discussions around death and old age, drawing light on how many issues arise from social and political factors that take root decades earlier. It presents practical details of an integrated model of care allowing for expert, personalised healthcare to be delivered within our communities and outside of the hospital. This is a book that encourages the question 'Who is the person to whom this is happening?' rather than just 'What is the medical problem?'. It is ultimately this approach that imbues meaning, purpose, and justice into the work of geriatric medicine and care.
Until about 30 years ago all carbon-based polymers were regarded strictly as insulators, and hence were extensively utilized by the electronics industry for this very property. They have been used as inactive packaging and insulating material. This very narrow perspective has rapidly changed with the emergence of intrinsically conducting polymers. The combination of conventional polymers with conductive polymers or fillers is an important alternative to obtaining new polymeric materials with designed properties. Through the combination of conventional polymers with conductive polymers such as polyaniline, polypyrrole, and so on, the mechanical properties of conducting polymers can be improved. The insulating polymer removes the brittleness and lack of processibility that are the main drawbacks hindering conducting polymers. Blend applications require that conductivity is achieved at a small weight fraction of conducting polymer. There is also an increased requirement for polymeric materials whose electrical conductivity can be tailored. The aim this chapter is to describe conducting polymer blend systems to identify characteristic trends that might be useful for the investigation of their potential application in various electronic and optoelectronic devices.
Pathways of Autocratization addresses contemporary global politics’ one of the most important questions: how does a country regress from a democracy to an autocracy? This book offers a novel framework for understanding the processes that erode democracy and lead to autocracy and explains a specific instance of democratic backsliding in Bangladesh: the world’s eighth most populous country. With probing analysis of events and trends of Bangladeshi politics, especially since 2009, the book contextualizes the country’s autocratization process within global trends and compares it with others which have trod a similar path in recent decades, including Bolivia, Cambodia, Hungary, Poland, the Philippines and Turkey. The book discusses the implications of institutional changes, the role of pliant media, the contribution of ideology, and the conduct of international actors in the autocratization process while also mapping future trajectories for the country. Succinct, incisive, and thought provoking, this book is rich in its theoretical robustness and empirical details. This is a must-read for anyone interested in understanding the dynamics of democratic backsliding and prospects for reversing this trend.

For the past decade and a half, the world has witnessed a precipitous decline of democratic countries and the consequent rise of autocrats. How Autocrats Rise: Sequences of Democratic Backsliding challenges the conventional wisdom and offers an institutional-ideological approach to understand the phenomenon, examines the steps of emergent autocrats, and analyzes the methods of legitimizing their rules. Employing the new framework, the book provides incisive analyses of four countries located in four different regions with dissimilar national features – Bangladesh, Bolivia, Hungary, and Turkey, and demonstrates that political developments in these countries have followed a similar, specific pattern resulting in various shades of autocracy. Theoretically enriched and empirically grounded, this exceptionally timely book makes significant contribution to the democratic backsliding literature while offering insights on how to forestall an autocratic era.
This Pivot explores the mechanism of election manipulation in ostensibly democratic but essentially authoritarian systems called the hybrid regime, using the 2018 parliamentary elections in Bangladesh as an example. The 2018 election has delivered an unprecedented victory to the incumbent Bangladesh Awami League. Elections pose serious dilemmas for the leaders of hybrid regimes. While contested elections bolster their claims of democracy and augment their legitimacy, they can also threaten the status quo. Faced with the challenge, the incumbents tend to hold stage-managed elections. This book offers incisive examination of Bangladesh’s political environment, rigorous scrutiny of the roles of state institutions including the law enforcing agencies, and meticulous analysis of election results. It also fills in a gap in the extant hybrid regime literature which seldom explores the strategies of engineered elections.
The focus of this book is broadband telecommunications: both fixed (DSL, fiber) and wireless (1G-4G). It uniquely covers the broadband telecom field from technological, business and policy angles. The reader learns about the necessary technologies to a certain depth in order to be able to evaluate and analyse competing technologies. The student can then apply the results of the technology analysis to business (revenues and costs, market size, etc) to evaluate how successful a technology may be in the market place. Technology and business analyses lead to policy analysis and how government deal with rolling out of broadband networks; content (such as text, audio and video) delivered over them. Furthermore, how government may ensure a competitive and fair environment is maintained for service provision. The book is unique in its approach as it prepares the student to evaluate products from three different viewpoints of technology-business and policy. The book provides a unified vision for broadband communications, offering the required background as well a description of existing broadband systems, finishing with a business scenario. The book breaks new ground by discussing telecommunication technologies in a business and policy context.
