Cost-benefit analysis (CBA) is the systematic and analytical process of comparing benefits and costs in evaluating the desirability of a project or programme, often of a social nature and for society as a whole. CBA is fundamental to government decision-making and can be an effective tool for informed decisions on the use of society's scarce resources. This book highlights the main concepts and principles of cost-benefit analysis used in real life cases and actual applications. The book contains rich cases, materials and examples of real life CBA applications with emphasis both on physical and non-physical projects and infrastructure developments in Asia and beyond. The book also discusses techniques frequently used in applied CBA. The first part of the book introduces the key concepts and principles of CBA before Part Two covers some pertinent issues relating to CBA, such as the recent trend of using behavioural economics and frequently used techniques in applied CBA. Finally, in Part Three, case studies are written up to illustrate how CBA is done, and questions for the readers and students to ponder are raised at the end of each chapter. The scope of the case studies is more than just physical infrastructures but will include public sector policies and programmes covering a host of social policies as in health, education, social welfare programmes, and the environment. For each case, there will be illustrations of the key concepts and principles of CBA used. Undertakings analyzed include: the Three Gorges Dam in China the 2008 Beijing Olympics the Costs of Global Warming the Jamuna Bridge in Bangladesh The case studies, many of which have taken or are to take place in developing countries provide a rich background to the principles of the method, and are accompanied by a wealth of explanatory material. As well as being suitable for courses in Cost-Benefit Analysis, Public Finance, Environmental and Health Economics, the book should be of interest to all public policy decision makers and planners.

I am a candidate for the United States Senate as an Independent and I have No Money and No Friends to help me. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati, with an Associated Degree in Art and Architecture. During my studies in architecture I acquired skills to create small scale entities into larger life objects, from structures to world politics. I have a keen talent in making accurate comparisons involving minute and major events; I can see inconsistencies and contradictions with clarity. My wife Barbara and I are originally from New York City and moved to the Mid West during our early twenties. We married in El Paso, Texas while I was in the United States Army and later raised eight children. I completed seven years of active service in the military before giving up a career I never thought I would. When I gave it up we began civilian life with three children and it was difficult and sometimes I wondered if I would bring home enough of a pay check to feed everyone a balanced diet. I soon learned that God was helping us with needed spiritual and material necessaries even though, I didnt think I deserved it. This book is a Political/Religious Time Line of America, beginning in 1942 when I was born until 2012. The Book compares my dysfunctional family life with current dysfunctional government politics.

This book by the late R D Mindlin is destined to become a classic introduction to the mathematical aspects of two-dimensional theories of elastic plates. It systematically derives the two-dimensional theories of anisotropic elastic plates from the variational formulation of the three-dimensional theory of elasticity by power series expansions. The uniqueness of two-dimensional problems is also examined from the variational viewpoint. The accuracy of the two-dimensional equations is judged by comparing the dispersion relations of the waves that the two-dimensional theories can describe with prediction from the three-dimensional theory. Discussing mainly high-frequency dynamic problems, it is also useful in traditional applications in structural engineering as well as provides the theoretical foundation for acoustic wave devices.

Also this book goes into great detail as to what is going wrong with our culture""it is going in the opposite direction from what God expects of us in the Holy Bible. As an "ordained independent minister," the author tries to back up everything he writes with scripture. He also describes how God personally directs and guides him when writing sermons and also writing the books God wants him to write. The author hopes you not only enjoy reading this book but also may learn things of which you were not previously aware. May God bless America, and may we change our cultural direction to agree with the holy scriptures.

This study goes beyond the traditional "great man" approach to biography and incorporates the newer directions of social history to produce a critical study of a controversial religious figure in western Canada. A biography of Bishop A.-A. Taché is more than the story of an individual because it is the chronicle of the Catholic Church in Quebec and the Canadian North West. It is a study of how clerical elites influenced society and its evolution and an account of an attempt to transplant and nurture and idealized agricultural society of Quebec on the prairies. As a pioneer French Canadian Oblate missionary and bishop A.-A. Taché was associated with some of the most momentous events in western Canadian history: the Red River Insurrection, French Catholic colonization, the Saskatchwan Rebellion and the school and language controversies in Manitoba and the North West Territories. Taché was an authoritarian figure and this tendency was reinforced by religious and episcopal office. In practice he was a micro manager who desired to control everything. Despite his valiant efforts his vision of a sister province of Quebec in the West failed to materialize and Quebec failed to respond to his urgent pleas for immigrants and Quebec politicians undermined his efforts by suggesting that he had betrayed his native province. Taché’s career is also a chronicle of failure and frustration but he took consolation in the fact that he had not shirked his duty nor tarnished his honour. Within this context Taché’s actions are a reminder of sacred accords concluded between English and French, Catholic and Protestant in 1867 and 1870. As an administrator Taché’s forte was in managing the material assets of his diocese. On the other hand, he lacked interpersonal skills in dealing and relating with his clergy. In the final analysis Taché will always remain an enigmatic figure.

It first discusses some traditional tools in technical analysis, such as trend, trend Line, trend channel, Gann's Theory, moving averages, and Bollinger bands. It then introduces a recent indicator developed for stock market and two recent techniques used in the technical analysis field: wavelets and the empirical mode decomposition in financial time series. The book also discusses the theory to test the performance of the indicators and introduces the MATLAB Financial Toolbox, some of the functions/codes of which are used in our numerical experiments.
