Public safety professionals and emergency responders today face greater threats than ever before in our history. The traditional role of law enforcement has vastly expanded to require extraordinarily broad-based emergency response capabilities. Law Enforcement Responder: Principles of Emergency Medicine, Rescue, and Force Protection prepares homeland security leaders, law enforcement officers, security professionals, and public safety officials for the wide range of emergency responses they must perform on a daily basis. The textbook addresses all of the competency statements in the National EMS Education Standards at the Emergency Medical Responder level, as well as additional lifesaving content specific to law enforcement that far exceeds the core curriculum. Important Notice: The digital edition of this book is missing some of the images or content found in the physical edition.
This textbook was finalized during the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. For years prior to the pandemic, clinical trials have shown improvement and cures of pulmonary disorders with the intravenous administration of mesenchymal stem cells. These cells are administered into the venous system, pass through the heart, and then lodge in the capillary network of the lungs where they decrease scar tissue and stimulate the regeneration of new lung tissue. The known benefits of cell therapy for pulmonary disease has been the foundation for the use of allogeneic stem cells to effectively treat (and in some cases cure) COVID-19-related lung disorders. Sadly, many of the highly qualified health care professionals caring for these critically ill patients are unfamiliar with the concept of stem cells and regenerative medicine. This unfamiliarity has resulted in patients throughout the world not receiving the benefit of these potentially life-saving treatments. The goal of this textbook is to provide a basic scientific and clinical multispecialty reference source for stem cells and regenerative medicine to be used as an extension of the American College of Regenerative Medicine.™ Chapters focus on basic science as well as the extravascular applications of regenerative medicine for all hard and soft tissues of the body including musculoskeletal and orthopedics, dental and maxillofacial surgery, and dermatology and plastic surgery. Other topics include plasma products such as PRP and PPP, tissue banking, stem cell expansion, and regulatory guidelines. It is our hope that this textbook will assist in the following areas: - Academic institutions will utilize this textbook as a reference source to educate health care professionals of the future, so that regenerative medicine is integrated into the core curriculum and foundation of medical learning. These professionals include medical doctors of all specialties, dentists and maxillofacial surgeons, veterinarians, researchers, nurses, study coordinators, physical therapists, occupational therapists, perfusionists, healthcare and life science attorneys, advocates, administrators, and policy makers. - Practicing health care professionals who have already finished their training will read this textbook with an open mind and understand more about stem cells and regenerative medicine. - To provide a foundation of accurate peer-reviewed scientific and clinical information for patient and industry advocates, as well as those involved in formulation of health care policy.

The genogram is a graphic way of organizing information gathered during a family assessment and identifying patterns in the family system. This title thoroughly explains how to draw, interpret and apply the genogram.
This book constitutes a review volume on the relatively new subject of Quantum Topology. Quantum Topology has its inception in the 1984/1985 discoveries of new invariants of knots and links (Jones, Homfly and Kauffman polynomials). These invariants were rapidly connected with quantum groups and methods in statistical mechanics. This was followed by Edward Witten's introduction of methods of quantum field theory into the subject and the formulation by Witten and Michael Atiyah of the concept of topological quantum field theories. This book is a review volume of on-going research activity. The papers derive from talks given at the Special Session on Knot and Topological Quantum Field Theory of the American Mathematical Society held at Dayton, Ohio in the fall of 1992. The book consists of a self-contained article by Kauffman, entitled Introduction to Quantum Topology and eighteen research articles by participants in the special session. This book should provide a useful source of ideas and results for anyone interested in the interface between topology and quantum field theory.
Plant Cell Biology, Second Edition: From Astronomy to Zoology connects the fundamentals of plant anatomy, plant physiology, plant growth and development, plant taxonomy, plant biochemistry, plant molecular biology, and plant cell biology. It covers all aspects of plant cell biology without emphasizing any one plant, organelle, molecule, or technique. Although most examples are biased towards plants, basic similarities between all living eukaryotic cells (animal and plant) are recognized and used to best illustrate cell processes. This is a must-have reference for scientists with a background in plant anatomy, plant physiology, plant growth and development, plant taxonomy, and more. - Includes chapter on using mutants and genetic approaches to plant cell biology research and a chapter on -omic technologies - Explains the physiological underpinnings of biological processes to bring original insights relating to plants - Includes examples throughout from physics, chemistry, geology, and biology to bring understanding on plant cell development, growth, chemistry and diseases - Provides the essential tools for students to be able to evaluate and assess the mechanisms involved in cell growth, chromosome motion, membrane trafficking and energy exchange
Constitutional Law: Cases in Contextplaces primary emphasis on how constitutional law has developed since the Founding, its key foundational principles, and recurring debates. By providing both cases and context, it conveys the competing narratives that all lawyers ought to know and all constitutional practitioners need to know. Teachable, manageable, class-sized chunks of material are suited to one-semester courses or reduced credit configurations. Generous case excerpts make the text flexible for most courses. Cases are judiciously supplemented with background readings from various sources. Innovative study guide questions presented before each case help students focus on the salient issues, challenging them to consider the court’s opinions from various perspectives, and suggesting comparisons or connections with other cases. New to the Fourth Edition: New unit on Criminal Procedure cases taught from the perspective of constitutional law. Integrated with twelve-hour video library that brings Supreme Court cases to life Includes decisions from the Roberts Court through June 2021 Professors and student will benefit from: An online library of sixty-three videos (access codes provided with purchase of the book) brings the Supreme Court’s most important decisions to life. The casebook is published in two paperback “splits.” The first split can be used for Constitutional Law I (Structure). The second split can be used for Constitutional Law II (Rights). The splits sell for half the price of the hardcover casebook. A highly accessible and engaging structure that examines the competing narratives that pervade the development of American constitutional law since the founding. Related cases that are grouped together into assignments making it simple for professors to construct syllabi, and assign students a reasonable amount of reading for each topic. A wealth of photographs, maps, and primary documents to bring the cases to life. A new supplement for Fall 2021 that includes all cases from the recently-concluded Supreme Court term.
Constitutional Structure: Cases in Context, Third Edition by Randy E. Barnett and Josh Blackman places primary emphasis on how constitutional law has developed since the Founding, its key foundational principles, and recurring debates. By providing both cases and context, it conveys the competing narratives that all lawyers ought to know and all constitutional practitioners need to know. It presents the highly engaging story that is American constitutional law. Teachable, manageable, class-sized chunks of material are suited to one-semester courses or reduced credit configurations. Generous case excerpts make the text flexible for most courses. Cases are judiciously supplemented with background readings from various sources. The readings are long enough to help students understand the arguments, yet short enough not to overwhelm them. Innovative study guide questions presented before each case help students focus on the salient issues, challenging them to consider the court’s opinions from various perspectives, and suggesting comparisons or connections with other cases. Student are encouraged to think about recurring foundational principles and debates. New to the Fourth Edition: New unit on Criminal Procedure cases taught from the perspective of constitutional law.
