Beginning with the formulation of specific design problems, this book goes on explains theories of failure. It considers factors involved in optimization of design, followed by a detailed description of static, transient and dynamic analysis.
Introductory Guide on the Design of Aerospace Structures Developed from a course taught at Concordia University for more than 20 years, Principles of Aeroelasticity utilizes the author’s extensive teaching experience to immerse undergraduate and first-year graduate students into this very specialized subject. Ideal for coursework or self-study, this detailed examination introduces the concepts of aeroelasticity, describes how aircraft lift structures behave when subjected to aerodynamic loads, and finds its application in aerospace, civil, and mechanical engineering. The book begins with a discussion on static behavior, and moves on to static instability and divergence, dynamic behavior leading up to flutter, and fluid structure interaction problems. It covers classical approaches based on low-order aerodynamic models and provides a rationale for adopting certain aeroelastic models. The author describes the formulation of discrete models as well as continuous structural models. He also provides approximate methods for solving divergence, flutter, response and stability of structures, and addresses non-aeroelastic problems in other areas that are similar to aeroelastic problems. Topics covered include: The fundamentals of vibration theory Vibration of single degree of freedom and two degrees of freedom systems Elasticity in the form of an idealized spring element Repetitive motion Flutter phenomenon Classical methods, Rayleigh-Ritz techniques, Galerkin’s technique, influential coefficient methods, and finite element methods Unsteady aerodynamics, and more
Understanding the dynamic behavior of complex engineering structures, mechanisms, and components requires more than just a basic course in dynamics, and it requires more than the ability to use computer programs to obtain numerical solutions to problems encountered in practice. Advanced Dynamics extends its readers knowledge from the relatively simple concepts of basic dynamics to the more abstract ideas related to virtual displacements, virtual work, generalized coordinates, and variation principles. The authors' presentation gradually introduces the abstract concepts often intimidating to students, and, while doing so, furnish numerous exercises and worked examples that ease the difficulties often experienced when trying to apply the abstract concepts to physical systems. While their emphasis is on students' understanding and intuition, the authors not only address the methods and means of formulating mathematical models of physical systems, they also discuss methods of solution, including a full chapter on numerical techniques. Designed for senior undergraduate and postgraduate students in mechanical engineering, Advanced Dynamics also forms a trustworthy reference for engineers and other professionals working in areas such as robotics, multibody spacecraft, altitude control, and the design of complex mechanical devices.
Divinity is worshipped in all forms conceivable by the human mind. Lord Rama is an incarnation. Anjaneya is a devotee, and loyal companion and servant of Lord Rama, but by his own merit, Anjaneya is worshipped by Hindus in awe and admiration of the godliness in him. Anjaneya's story is not complete without the story of Rama, known as Ramayana. In this book, following Anjaneya's birth, childhood, education, Rama enters the great monkey's life. What follows is the confluence of divinities. This confluence and the ensuing flow of the story have been instilled in the mindset of generations of Indian minds. The mythology says that Anjaneya is Chiranjeevi, an immortal. Whether Anjaneya actually existed, and whether he was a Chiranjeevi is not important; however, he is a Chiranjeevi in the minds of thousands and millions of Indians. Sun Wukong is an extraordinary monkey character appearing in a Chinese mythology, Journey to the West. Anjaneya and Sun Wukong share many resemblances. Immortality is not about being present in a physical form, but about being present in the minds of more than two billion people in the world.
Kanauj is of high antiquity and renown. Founded long before the dawn of the Christian era, it first rose to importance in the sixth century a.d. when it became the capital of the Maukharis and when it grew rapidly in authority and influence till its conflict with later Guptas. This followed Harsa of Thaneswar assuming control of affairs in Kanauj. Harsa`s death plunged Kanauj into anarchy and darkness that lasted for about half a century. However, as a result of the protracted campaigns of the next rulers, Pratiharas, Kanauj grew to enormous dimensions camprising territories as widely apart as Saurastra and North Bengal, Magadha and Rajputana till it fell from its high position because of armed adventures of Mahmud and then Sihabuddin Ghori. History of Kanauj presents, in short the story of this ancient realm which is full of political vicissitudes and ephemeral grandeur.
Whose knowledge counts? Why delve deep to understand self, history and intercontinental relations? How do people and communities heal from the wounds of colonization and related trauma passed from generation to generation? Such intractable questions are explored in this collection of essays on decolonization. To decolonize means to humxnize, which is of even greater urgency in the 21 st century with colonization showing itself in new forms. Perspectives from several continents suggest pathways toward more convivial and equitable relations in society, and each chapter is presented in conversation with an illustration. The book will inspire young leaders, educators, activists, policymakers, researchers, and anyone resisting colonization and its effects and working for a kinder, gentler world. These 13 instructive and sometimes personal chapters speak to the urgency of decolonization, building on a culture of ubuntu or recognizing oneself in others. – François-Joseph Azoh, Psychologist, Lecturer at Ecole Normale Supérieure of Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire Connections between colonization, racism, and other “isms” are addressed, as are rehumxnizing intercontinental movements such as Black Lives Matter, #MeToo, and #RhodesMustFall. – Dr. Wanja Njuguna, Senior Lecturer, Journalism and Media Technology, Namibia University of Science and Technology Embrace this read and learn how we humXns are the X-factor in the liberation from mental and physical bondage. – Larry Lester, activist and President of the Greater Kansas City Black History Study Group, a branch of ASALH Decolonization brings a progressive transformation of the world. – Therese Mungah Shalo Tchombe, Emeritus Professor/Honorary Dean of Education, University of Buea, Cameroon
The book provides data on all the species of the two genera Genera Brachystelma Sims and Ceropegia L. in India for their bioprospection and conservation. The other objectives are to promote the beauty and uniqueness of the species of these two genera and also to provide medicinal and edible uses for bioprospection.
A manager needs to perform the role of a leader, a consumer, a buyer, a maker, a worker, a messenger, an advisor and a guide to all other stakeholders in a business setting. Though the fundamentals of management are eternally same in nature, the learners and practicing managers should continuously sensitize themselves with the fundamentals in view of the changing times and circumstances. This book aims to be a guiding handbook for emerging and practicing managers in the ever-changing corporate world. Going beyond explaining just the basics of management, this book will help the readers understand the art of practicing management.
