This book outlines the eco-friendly brominating reagents available for the bromination of diverse organic substrates. Emphasis is given to the use of eco-friendly brominating reagents comprised of bromide-bromate salts in varying ratios, as these salts generate only aqueous sodium chloride as waste during the bromination process. In this book, each chapter is focused on specific reactions – aromatic reactions; aliphatic substitutions; addition reactions; oxidation of alcohols to carbonyl compounds; oxybromination of alkenes and alkynes; and oxidative esterification have been described. The book’s description of the use of eco-friendly brominating reagents will be useful to academicians, who can follow the simple but novel methods for the preparation of chemical reagents required for their research works. The book will also be of interest to those involved in industry, as these reagents are economically viable when procured in bulk.
Structure and Tectonics of the Indian Continental Crust and Its Adjoining Region: Deep Seismic Studies, Second Edition, collates essential data from seismic studies of Earth's crust across India, offering an essential understanding of the tectonic development of the Indian subcontinent. Seismic studies have been carried out in various parts of India since 1972, recording crust-related seismic data for determination of velocity-depth configuration and determination of structural patterns. The book examines the details of these studies, including their synthesis and global applications. The book presents both background and applications in one cohesive volume for researchers and students of geophysics and geology. - Presents all the information and metadata of the Indian continental crust and its neighbouring regions in a cohesive way - Provides basic knowledge of the Indian subcontinent to support the discussion of seismic studies related to crustal structure - Includes all new chapter covering global applications and synthesis of the findings and observations

Dr Rajendra Prasad wrote the greater part of Autobiography while he was in prison between 1942 and 1945. First published in Hindi, it takes us through his childhood, his life in his village Chapra, his early education with his teacher ‘Maulvi Saheb’, his years as a student in Calcutta, his marriage at the age of twelve and his legal practice. It discusses not only his personal tribulations, but is also an examination of the last years of British colonial rule in India. As a freedom fighter and close associate of Gandhi, he was privy to political developments in the decades before independence. He records Gandhi’s influence on him, the call for non-co-operation in Bihar as part of Gandhiji’s larger all-India movement, the boycott of foreign cloth, the shadow of communalism and the Hindu-Muslim question, Satyagraha and social reform. This book is testimony to Rajendra Prasad’s deep humanity, his unswerving nationalism and belief in democracy. It is also an exploration of the foundations of modern India. Most textbooks in the field are either too advanced for students or don't adequately cover current research topics. Bridging this gap, Electronic Structure of Materials helps advanced undergraduate and graduate students understand electronic structure methods and enables them to use these techniques in their work.Developed from the author's lecture
“Saath ensured communities understood not just their rights when it came to basic services but also their responsibilities. With three decades of experience in partnerships for equitable and rights-based urban development, Saath is well positioned not just to be a player, important as that is, but to also be a resource agency, a teacher and a guru, sharing its successes and failures to other institutions who are treading a similar path.” Mr Shankar Venkateswaran, Former Chief, TATA Sustainibilty Group and former Country Head, American India Foundation “This book not only highlights the good work done by Saath, but also provides food for thought in terms of what needs to be done to make our cities a much better place to live than what they are today. This book will certainly help inspire people to join NGOs in their own ways and help create an atmosphere for social change that will lead to a more inclusive growth.” Mr Dilip Chenoy, Secretary General, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries “Urban India needs a large number of initiatives like those taken by SAATH to solve its large and diversified problems.” Prof Chetan Vaidya, former Director of the National Institute of Urban Affairs and School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, Trustee of Saath
This textbook presents the classical treatment of the problems of heat transfer in an exhaustive manner with due emphasis on understanding of the physics of the problems. This emphasis is especially visible in the chapters on convective heat transfer. Emphasis is laid on the solution of steady and unsteady two-dimensional heat conduction problems. Another special feature of the book is a chapter on introduction to design of heat exchangers and their illustrative design problems. A simple and understandable treatment of gaseous radiation has been presented. A special chapter on flat plate solar air heater has been incorporated that covers thermo-hydraulic modeling and simulation. The chapter on mass transfer has been written looking specifically at the needs of the students of mechanical engineering. The book includes a large number and variety of solved problems with supporting line diagrams. The author has avoided duplicating similar problems, while incorporating more application-based examples. All the end-of-chapter exercise problems are supplemented with stepwise answers. Primarily designed to serve as a complete textbook for undergraduate and graduate students of mechanical engineering, the book will also be useful for students of chemical, automobile, production, and industrial engineering streams. The book fully covers the topics of heat transfer coursework and can also be used as reference for students preparing for competitive graduate examinations.
Fiberoptic bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows a clinician to examine the airways by placing a thin tube-like instrument through the nose or mouth and down into the lungs. The tube sends pictures back to a video screen or camera. The procedure can be either diagnostic, to diagnose lung disease, or therapeutic to treat some lung conditions. This atlas is a practical guide to the diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions using fiberoptic bronchoscopy. Beginning with an introduction to the history and application of the procedure, and discussion on normal and abnormal patterns of bronchial anatomy, the following sections present X-Ray, CT and bronchoscopic pictures of numerous cases encountered by the author. Each case is described in detail, highlighting possible complications and contraindications. A separate chapter is dedicated to paediatric bronchoscopy. A set of case studies on brochoscopic findings in benign and malignant pulmonary diseases has been included to help clinicians apply their knowledge. Key points Practical guide to diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases using fiberoptic bronchoscopy Presents numerous cases seen by the author Case studies of benign and malignant pulmonary diseases enhance learning Includes more than 450 X-Rays, CT images and bronchoscopic pictures
