Burroughville seems like a pleasant town with manors and quiet living. But it's a town full aa gossip and prejudice by many who sit regularly in church. Luke Drake, a police officer, struggles with the town's love of gossip. He stayed because he believed one can make a difference. It's a challenge when his sister owns the diner that is gossip headquarters, and his chief mocks his faith at every opportunity. Luke finds himself in turmoil after receiving a call about a disturbance at the Johnson Manor. When he enters the parlor, he sees Elizabeth Johnson with the murder weapon in her hands, her husband lying dead on the floor, and a large clotted gash on the right side of his head. Although this was fodder for gossip, Luke believes things aren't what they seem to be. Pastor O'Reilly encourages him to trust God, who knows the beginning and ending. But Luke understands that the in-between time can challenge one's faith. This is a story revealing that steadfastness in faith can make a difference no matter how difficult the obstacle. Through Luke's endeavor, things are changed, and some of God's children are blessed!

Originally published in 1972, this book was the very first regional study of Puritanism to appear in print, and it has remained a widely influential text. Puritanism in north-west England brings out the many internal contrasts within the huge, sprawling diocese of Chester and the large parishes within it, and is alert to comparisons with other parts of England. One of its most distinctive features was the way in which for much of the period under review – for expedient reasons – Puritanism in this region was backed, rather than persecuted, by the ecclesiastical and civil authorities as a bulwark against entrenched Roman Catholicism. The ongoing struggles between Puritanism and Roman Catholicism are systematically documented, partly by means of parish case studies. The respective, interlocking roles of puritan clergy, laity and patrons are carefully considered. Lay activism and gender dynamics receive extended treatment; there is much here on Puritanism’s inner momentum and on women’s history. The educational background of the clergy, especially their shared university experience, is analysed, as are the reading habits of clergy and laity alike. Though much further research on Puritanism has taken place since 1972, the approach adopted in this study and its findings retain their validity and relevance.

The reader is then introduced to the characteristics of pitot and static tubes in incompressible flow; pitot and static observations in compressible flow; and the flow of air in pipes of circular cross-section. Subsequent chapters focus on the measurement of incompressible flow in pipes by pitot and static traverse methods; methods of flow measurement based upon the rates of cooling of hot bodies; and the measurement of pulsating flow.
