This book provides a critical reassessment and fresh analysis of Jesus' attitude towards the Law as portrayed in each of the canonical Gospels, Q, Thomas, and the apocryphal Gospels. Representing William Loader's definitive work on the subject, this comprehensive study presents in a clearer picture of Jesus and his message. A special feature of this book is its textually "sequential analysis of the theme of the Law. By taking this unique approach, Loader lets Jesus' stance towards the Law emerge directly out of the Gospel narratives themselves while at the same time highlighting important similarities and differences between the texts. Comparing the canonical Gospels with each other and with crucial noncanonical sources allows Loader to probe behind the tradition in the search for Jesus' true relationship with the Judaism of his day. Despite its focused theme, this is not a book about the historical Jesus. Instead, it works with the ancient materials we actually have before us and so offers a more secure basis for the less certain task of reconstructing the history behind the texts. In treating each Gospel, Loader also begins with a substantial engagement of current and previous research before presenting his own perspectives. As a result, "Jesus' Attitude towards the Law will be valued both as an original scholarly contribution and as an unrivaled sourcebook for studying Jesus, Second Temple Judaism, and the origins of Christianity.
Bill Loader has been one of the leading New Testament scholars not just in Australia, but globally, for half a century. What is immediately apparent is that the clarity of communication and the exceptional precision in analyzing the details of ancient texts, which are the hallmarks of his scholarship, were present even in the earliest essays. Without exception every essay in this volume is a contribution of exceptional insight for all who seek to learn from an exemplary scholar.
This volume brings together essays on the theme of sexuality and gender by William R. G. Loader, one of the leading specialists in the field, arising from his extensive investigation of early Jewish and Christian literature about such issues as marriage, adultery, divorce, celibacy, gender roles, and incest

This is the long-awaited publication of a set of writings by the British philosopher, historian, and archaeologist R.G. Collingwood on critical, anthropological, and cultural themes only hinted at in his previously available work. At the centre of the book are six chapters of a study of folktale and magic, composed by Collingwood in the mid-1930s and intended for development into a book. Here Collingwood applies the principles of his philosophy of history to problems in thelong-term evolution of human society and culture. This is preceded, in Part I, by a range of contextualizing material on such topics as the relations between music and poetry, the nature of language, the value of Jane Austen's novels, the philosophy of art, and the relations between aesthetic theory andartistic practice. Part III of the volume consists of two essays, one on the relationship between art and mechanized civilization, and the second, written in 1931, on the collapse of human values and civilization leading up to the catastrophe of armed conflict. These offer a devastating analysis of the consequences that attend the desertion of liberal principles, indeed of all politics as such, in the ultimate self-annihilation of military conquest. The volume opens with three substantial introductory essays by the editors, authorities in the fields of critical and literary history, social and cultural anthropology, and the philosophy of history and the history of ideas; they provide their explanatory and contextual notes to guide the reader through the texts. The Philosophy of Enchantment brings hitherto unrecognized areas of Collingwood's achievement to light, and demonstrates the broad range of Collingwood's intellectualengagements, their integration, and their relevance to current areas of debate in the fields of philosophy, cultural studies, social and literary history, and anthropology.

This book is not written for Christians alone, but is written for anyone who desires to know the near future. Study helps and materials are listed along with instructions which will give any one the means to understand even the most difficult scriptures in the Bible, which is the most accurate of any book on end time events. With many books on the subject, none are as telling and straight forward as Rapture and Revelation. While there are many fears concerning the end times, author R G. Brock embarks on the task to unravel the mysteries of the Rapture and Revelation. While attending Rhema Bible Training Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, R G. Brock had the privilege of being taught by well-known author and teacher brother Kenneth Hagin, Sr. who has since went home to be with Jesus. After being inspired by one of Hagin's lectures, Brock obeyed his strong urge to write a book on the end times. This heart-gripping treatise will guide you into the truth as you uncover the mystery of the end of times. This book is written to give you a clear incite into the end of this age. The end begins with peace when a worldwide 7 year peace agreement is signed in the next few years which will be backed by a one world government run by the United Nations. Then in the middle of the 7 year period, the peace agreement will be broken and all hell literally breaks loose which leads to a time of trouble such as never has been or ever will be again. During this time of the last 3 1/2 years, which is called great tribulation, most of the people on the earth will die. However, if you are a Christian you will not go through this terrible time. You will find this book is the most in-depth study on what is called 'the rapture, ' which is the catching away of the Christians to not go through great tribulation, and you will find that it is by far the most in-depth study of 'The Revelation' which shows what will happen during this time of great trouble

Please do not let any one turn you into a prophet with there educated head knowledge, the teaching is out there that all Christian can prophesy which is far from the truth-For a person to prophesy mean that you must have the gift to do so because God talk to the prophet and gave him or her messages, and I am not talking about preaching, teaching, evangelism, or comforting. Eph 4:v11 said, And he gave some, apostles, and some prophets, and some, evangelist, and some pastors and teachers. The scripture is very clear that God is the one who put prophets in the church and not man. The message is very clear from Num 12: please do not try to make yourself a prophet, please read the chapter, v6, And the Lord said unto Miriam and Aaron, Hear now my words; If there be a prophet among you, I the Lord will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak to him in a dream. This is the working of the Holy Spirit, a revelation, and not man teaching you how you can prophesy.

When it was first published in 1935, On the Border with Mackenzie, or Winning West Texas from the Comanches quickly became known as the most complete account of the Indian Wars on the Texas frontier during the 1870s, and remains one of the most exhaustive histories ever written by an actual participant in the Texas Indian Wars. The author, Capt. Robert G. Carter, a Union Army veteran and West Point graduate, was appointed in 1870 to serve as second lieutenant in the Fourth United States Cavalry stationed at Fort Concho, Texas. He was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1900 for his gallantry in action against the Indians occurring on October 10, 1871, during the battle of Blanco Canyon. Led by Col. Ranald Slidell Mackenzie, the Fourth Cavalry moved its headquarters to Fort Richardson, Texas, in 1871 where they soon became one of the most effective units on the western frontier. Among the battles and skirmishes they participated in were the Warren wagon train raid of 1871; the Kicking Bird pursuit of 1871; the Remolino fight of 1873; the Red River War of 1874-75; and the Black Hills War of 1876. “...a splendid contribution to the early frontier history of West Texas...a story filled with humor and pathos, tragedies and triumphs, hunger and thirst, war and adventure.”—L. F. Sheffy “...[Carter] pulls no punches in this outspoken narrative, and the reader always knows where he stands.”—John H. Jenkins, Texas Basic Books “...essential to any study of the Indian Wars of the Southern Plains.”—Charles Robinson, Foreword

Jesus and the Fundamentalism of His Day is a deconstructive view of the Gospels (in the Jesus Seminar mode) that sets each Gospel writer beside the others -- and beside the hypothetical source document Q -- to show that Jesus' primary message was compassion for human beings, even when such compassion subordinated the demands of Scripture.
