ÏvÁsa-KÁsa-CintÁmani Rasa is mentioned in many texts and is used in bronchial asthma since many centuries by our Acharyas. Yogendra Rasa is another formulation that is used in the treatment of developmental disorders in children. This book contains the details of the clinical trial and experimental study that was performed as a part of doctoral level research work at Banaras Hindu University to evaluate the effect of these formulations among the pediatric population.
Amylases are well known for applications ranging from starch and food processes industry to medical applications. The increased demand for these enzymes in various industries has led to an enormous interest in developing enzymes with better properties such as raw starch degrading amylases. It is suggested that banana peel and male inflorescence could employ as a promising substrate for the production of amylase by Aspergillus niger. Further, solid state fermentation is a better choice for amylase production. The addition of external growth medium is also found beneficial for increasing enzyme production. The present study was undertaken to isolate, identify and characterize the Aspergillus niger in the culture medium followed by amylase production and extraction. The banana parts used here as substrates are ripe fruit peel and male inflorescence from locally cultivated species Ethan (Nendran), Palayamkodan (Palayanthodan), Rasakadali (Njali Poovan) and Sundari. The result shows that amylase from sundari peel have the best activity followed by Ethan peel. Ethan flower bud shows the least activity among the eight substrates under study.

The present study is to investigate about the Antimicrobial, phytochemical and antioxidant activity of Eupatorium triplinerve Vahl. The extracts are studied against human wound and burn pathogenic bacterial stains. E. coli, Klebsiella species, Pseudomonas species, Staphylococcus aureus, Enterobacter species. From the phytochemical study is shows the presence of steroids, glycosides, tannins, phenols, saponins and flavonoids. Plant extracts compounds were separated by thin layer chromatography and identification based on Rf values. The presence of vitamin C play and important role of antioxidants.

We all are indebted to nature for providing us food and its resources for our subsistence and survival. In the food domain, cereal and legume grains occupy the front line, whereas, horticultural crops have occupied the second line of defense. For healthy diet cereals and legumes provide us with carbohydrates and protein, whereas, fruits and vegetables provide us minerals and vitamins. Both macro- and micro- nutrients are essential for human growth and development. The fruits and vegetables are the major source of micro-nutrients. It is estimated that up to 2.7 million lives could potentially be saved each year if fruit and vegetable production was sufficiently increased. Both at national and international levels, food and agriculture/horticulture development plans and estimates are basically developed, framed and implemented, and narrowed down to cereal production. In the present context of attaining nutrition security, this mode of thinking on ‘food’ needs to be changed to ‘nutrients’, which will include necessarily all those crops including fruit and vegetables which provide all macro- and micro-nutrients to ensure balanced nutrition needed for good human health. The leaves of Nerium oleander have excellent antibacterial property. The present study aims to evaluate the cosmetic activity of Nerium oleander leaf extract against clinically isolated pimple causing Staphylococcus aureus. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) was found that dilution factor 200, and 300 respectively. Phytochemical analysis of the extract was also studied. This study concludes that Nerium oleander be used as a potential natural remedy to treat pimples.

The present study aims to evaluate the antibacterial property Caesalpinia pulcherrima flower extract against clinically isolated eye infection causing Staphylococcus auerus. The (MIC) minimum inhibitory concentration and (MBC) minimum bactericidal concentration was found to be 200 µg/ml and 400 µg/ml. Antioxidant activity, spectroscopic and phytochemical analysis of the extract was also studied. This study concludes that Caesalpinia pulcherrima can be used as a potential natural remedy to treat eye infection.
