The recent turmoil on financial markets has made evident the importance of efficient liquidity risk management for the stability of banks. The measurement and management of liquidity risk must take into account economic factors such as the impact area, the timeframe of the analysis, the origin and the economic scenario in which the risk becomes manifest. Basel III, among other things, has introduced harmonized international minimum requirements and has developed global liquidity standards and supervisory monitoring procedures. The short book analyses the economic impact of the new regulation on profitability, on assets composition and business mix, on liabilities structure and replacement effects on banking and financial products.
Written from an engineering standpoint, this book provides the theoretical background and physical insight needed to understand new and future developments in the modeling and design of n- and p-MOS nanoscale transistors. A wealth of applications, illustrations and examples connect the methods described to all the latest issues in nanoscale MOSFET design. Key areas covered include: • Transport in arbitrary crystal orientations and strain conditions, and new channel and gate stack materials • All the relevant transport regimes, ranging from low field mobility to quasi-ballistic transport, described using a single modeling framework • Predictive capabilities of device models, discussed with systematic comparisons to experimental results
WILDE NOWreads Oscar Wilde through our now, through a contemporary sensibility (and approach), in which literature and popular culture interrogate and are interrogated by critical concepts and categories such as performance, celebrity, intermediality, and consumerism. This volume exceeds the shape and meaning of a critical study to turn into a drama of five different acts/moments in Wilde’s life and work: his early performances in Dublin, London and Oxford; the 1882 American tour; his successful season of the first half of the 1890s, his prison years and finally his glorious resurrection in contemporary pop culture. Most importantly WILDE NOW approaches these moments through contemporary rewritings and performances of “Oscar Wilde” in the fields of cinema, music and literature by such artists as Al Pacino, Rupert Everett, Stephen Fry, Gyles Brandreth, David Hare, David Bowie, Morrissey, Nick Cave, Neil Tennant, Gavin Friday. These artists – through their awareness of the importance of being/playing Oscar in their specific worlds and cultural contexts – will also show us that Wilde can be conceived as a subversive, critical role one might successfully perform and appropriate, now more than ever.
This book presents methodologies suitable for the optimal design of control and diagnosis strategies for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) systems. One key feature of the methodologies presented is the use of modeling tools with an ideal balance between accuracy and computational burden. Particular emphasis is given to the useful combination of models within a hierarchical framework to reduce the experimental efforts required for characterization and testing. Such tools are proven to be highly effective for SOFC systems destined for both residential and transportation applications. Throughout the book, optimization is always conceived in such a way so as to allow the SOFC systems to work efficiently while guaranteeing safe thermal operation, as well as an extended lifetime. This book is aimed at scientists and engineers involved in the design of marketable SOFC systems. It gathers the knowledge and experience derived from other research and industry practice for which control and diagnosis have proven to be the main keys to success and market penetration.
Decision-making on outsourcing new product development (especially innovation projects), such as engaging and managing the supply chain, is far from easy. It may involve addressing strategic and operational risks that might cause longer development times and increase innovations costs. It is, therefore, imperative to select suppliers very carefully and set up an effective management strategy vis-à-vis the supply partners right from the inception phase. Supply chain management is facing enormous challenges, driven by interrelated disruptions that will have a vast and lasting impact. Based on a relevant case study, Boeing 787 Dreamliner programme, this volume offers a comprehensive overview of the decision-making models for outsourcing strategic activities. The proposed model suggests a valuable approach to outsourcing the decision-making strategies for new product development when the innovation is driven by technological innovation.
Inspired by the result of their collaboration, the duo founded Toiletpaper, a magazine born out of their shared passion for making unique and surprising images. Working together, Cattelan and Ferrari create photographs that fuse the vernacular of commercial image making with witty tableaux and surrealism. The result - Toiletpaper - is a bi-annual publication that is itself a work of art. Characterized by high production value and sharp humor, the images produced by Cattelan and Ferrari are instantly recognizable and reflective of their respective positions as renowned artist and acclaimed photographer.-from https://www.artandcommerce.com/artists/photographers/Maurizio-Cattelan---Pierpaolo-Ferrari/bio.
Toiletpaper is an artists' magazine created and produced by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari and born out of a shared passion for images. The magazine contains no text. Each picture springs from an idea, often simple, and through a complex orchestration of people it becomes the materialization of the artists' mental outbursts. Since the first issue, in June 2010, Toiletpaper has created a world that displays ambiguous narratives and a troubling imagination. It combines the vernacular of commercial photography with twisted narrative tableaux and surrealistic imagery. The result is a publication that is itself a work of art which, through its accessible form as a widely distributed magazine, challenges the limits of the contemporary art economy.
A hilarious, surreal, high-impact album of the most iconic images from the archives of celebrated photographer Martin Parr and Toilet Paper duo Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari In ToiletMartin PaperParr Book, Martin Parr's ironic, full-color images combine perfectly with the irreverent and poignant wit created by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari. Presented back to back, the 120 vibrant images included in this compelling volume are sensually and visually appealing, as well as reflecting reality. This book of the books shakes up our minds and leads us to move our gaze in multiple directions. Martin Parr (born 1952) has published more than 100 books and edited another 30. He has curated two photography festivals (Arles in 2004 and Brighton Biennial in 2010); in 2016 he curated the Barbican exhibition Strange and Familiar. He has been a member of the Magnum agency since 1994 and was President from 2013 to 2017. Parr established the Martin Parr Foundation in 2017. Since retiring from art, after his acclaimed 2011 retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Maurizio Cattelan (born 1960) has committed himself to publishing Toilet Paper magazine. Cattelan also founded the art magazines Permanent Food and Charley. He curated the 4th Berlin Biennale with Massimiliano Gioni and Ali Subotnick; in 2018 he curated the exhibition The Artist Is Present at the Yuz Museum in Shanghai. Pierpaolo Ferrari (born 1971) is a fashion and advertising photographer and creative researcher. In 2007, he began a collaboration with L'Uomo Vogue which offered him the chance to explore the portrait's potential and radically change its codes. In 2009, he teamed up with Maurizio Cattelan to create Toilet Paper.
The upcoming Toiletpaper wall calendar 2018 features photographs conceived by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari taken from their magazine Toiletpaper , an image-only publication devoted to the combination of the height of attractiveness with that of ugliness.
