The author has many years experience in both farm animal practice and commercial sheep farming. In this book he focuses on state-of-the-art clinical medicine and relates it to issues of sheep welfare and husbandry. He takes into account the relationship between the veterinarian and the farmer by dealing with veterinary clinical examination and inspection of husbandry practice, along with subsequent practical and cost effective advice that the veterinarian will have to discuss with the farmer. The book describes and illustrates the important diseases of sheep encountered in general practice, their diagnosis, treatment, prognosis and control. It is divided into chapters based upon each body system and, where appropriate, chapters open with a suggested approach to clinical examination of that body system. Many of the chapters conclude with self-assessment exercises featuring typical clinical cases. The book will be of value to veterinarians in practice and training, animal scientists and agricultural advisors, and scientists interested in animal welfare.

Griffiths eschews the Presbyterian paradigm which believes the Abrahamic, Mosaic, and Davidic covenants to be of the same substance as the new covenant, only differing in regard to their administration. Replacing it with essential truth that the new covenant, which is the outworking of the eternal covenant of redemption in time, is the only covenant of grace. Both Old and New Testament believers come under the mediatorship of Christ and are members and recipients of new covenant blessings. The author shows how all other covenants, what he calls “subsidiary covenants,” are of works, and that their function is to magnify the covenant of grace, i.e., the new covenant.

The developing infant can accomplish all important perceptual tasks that an adult can, albeit with less skill or precision. Through infant perception research, infant responses to experiences enable researchers to reveal perceptual competence, test hypotheses about processes, and infer neural mechanisms, and researchers are able to address age-old questions about perception and the origins of knowledge. In Development of Perception in Infancy: The Cradle of Knowledge Revisited, Martha E. Arterberry and Philip J. Kellman study the methods and data of scientific research on infant perception, introducing and analyzing topics (such as space, pattern, object, and motion perception) through philosophical, theoretical, and historical contexts. Infant perception research is placed in a philosophical context by addressing the abilities with which humans appear to be born, those that appear to emerge due to experience, and the interaction of the two. The theoretical perspective is informed by the ecological tradition, and from such a perspective the authors focus on the information available for perception, when it is used by the developing infant, the fit between infant capabilities and environmental demands, and the role of perceptual learning. Since the original publication of this book in 1998 (MIT), Arterberry and Kellman address in addition the mechanisms of change, placing the basic capacities of infants at different ages and exploring what it is that infants do with this information. Significantly, the authors feature the perceptual underpinnings of social and cognitive development, and consider two examples of atypical development - congenital cataracts and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Professionals and students alike will find this book a critical resource to understanding perception, cognitive development, social development, infancy, and developmental cognitive neuroscience, as research on the origins of perception has changed forever our conceptions of how human mental life begins.

It deconstructs the âraceâ creationism, White supremacy, and Christian imperialism of leading interwar Mormon theologian B.H. Roberts. Roberts hoped to introduce the front-rank post-Darwinian, scientific, and philosophical postulates of his timeâpolygeny, preadamitism, electromagnetism, idealism, the multiverse, infinity, and interstellar travelâto an increasingly fundamentalist Mormon establishment. Church authorities, however, including eventual âprophetâ Joseph Fielding Smith Jr., proscribed and rejected Robertsâ modernist manuscript, The Truth, The, Way, The Life: An Elementary Treatise on Theology, circa 1930. Paradoxically, however, Robertsâ thinking appeared uncited in Smithâs 1954 theology, Man, His Origin and Destiny. Here, Smith accelerated Robertsâ racism toward African Americans, while reviling science, philosophy, and free thought. This book contextualizes all such fundamentalist Mormon thinking within todayâs struggle for social and environmental justice, and especially the Black Lives Matter movement.

Tom Nicholas Wright is one of the leading proponents of the New Perspective on Paul. Wright sees himself as the new Luther, a discoverer of the true biblical understanding of key doctrines like that of justification by faith. According to him, the Reformation misunderstood the nature of justification by faith alone and the role of the law in the Old Testament. Wright maintains that this has continued to be the case for those of the Reformed Faith. He tells us that we are guilty of anachronism, whereby we interpret first-century Judaism in the light of medieval Roman Catholicism.
