In this intriguing study, art historian Philip Sohm considers some of the greatest artists of Renaissance and Baroque Italy and their experiences of aging. Sohm investigates how art critics, collectors, biographers, and fellow artists dealt with old painters, what mental landscapes preconditioned responses to art by the elderly, and how biology and psychology were co-opted to explain the imprint that artists left on their art. He also looks carefully at the impact of prejudices, stereotypes, and other imaginary truths about old age. For some artists, the problems of old age were related to physical decline—Poussin’s hands became shaky, Titian’s eyesight dimmed. For others, psychological symptoms emerged. The book’s cast of characters includes Michelangelo, the hypochondriac young fogy; Titian, the shrewd marketer of old age; the multiphobic Pontormo; and others. With sensitivity and insight, Sohm uncovers what it meant to be an old artist and how successive generations have looked at the art of an old master.

This Book: lgbo Mediators of Yahweh Culture of Life: volume IV, Exodus, Part 1, is the first accurate account of the path of the Exodus based on genetic, ethnolinguistic, paleoanthropologic and archeological scientific proof. The book builds on the theme of the book series: lgbo Mediators of Yahweh Culture of Life, that the lgbo are the Chosen People of God, the true Israelites (lgbo language: ! zara Eli, meaning 'you answered the Most High'). The question of who are the true Ancient Israelites has been settled with the science of population genetics. It has been shown conclusively that, the lgbo have L1 gene which is the Semite gene of Ancient Israelites. Human origins are traced through matrilineal genes, starting with the Eve gene called superhaplogroup LO. The three women who were theoretically wives of Shem, Ham and Japheth were L 1, L2, and L3 haplogroups, respectively. These genes are called Nilotic genes because of their origins along the Nile (lgbo language:mmiri niile, meaning 'all the waters'). The lgbo were the original inhabitants of ancient Egypt (lgbo language:a gQ Ya, a pa att,1 , meaning 'prays to God and carries out His instructions'), and were the Dynastic Pharaohs (lgbo language: e fere Qha, meaning 'your worship of the people').The lgbo were the earlier inhabitants of Nubia (Owere dialect lgbo language: ani ibo, meaning 'the land of the mediators', as priests that mediate between God and humanity for the remission of sin). The lgbo that speak the Owere dialect lived in Nubia or Upper Egypt while those that speak the Onitcha dialect lived in Lower Egypt. The lgbo Egyptians were conquered by the Turkic and ancestors of Arabs, and then enslaved in their own land , as Hebrews (lgbo language: Qha e bu t,1rt,1 t,1wa, meaning 'the people who bear the wickedness of the world'). On the way to the Promised Land of Canaan (lgbo language: oke Nna, meaning 'the allotment of the Father'), they were formally ordained a nation of priests by God and called lgbo (Onitcha dialect lgbo language: i gbo, meaning 'mediators or priests' between God and humanity for the remission of sin). The lgbo gene haplogroup is L 1 dating 150,000 to 240,000 years. The L2 are genes of the people of Black Southern Sudan region, which dates 100,000 to 150,000 years; and L3 dates 70,000 to 100,000 years and comprise all other black people. The genes of the white people are M and N, and are mutations of L3, that dates back 6,000 to 12,000 years. The locations of the sites from Egypt across Chad (lgbo language: Chi e du, meaning 'Almighty God leads'), Niger, Cameroon and finally Nigeria are to this day preserved in several caves and National parks. However much people want esteem, it is an untradable commodity— there is no way that you can buy the good opinion of another or sell to others your good opinion of them. And yet esteem is allocated in society according to systematic determinants: people's performance, publicity, and presentation relative to others will help to fix how much esteem they enjoy and how much disesteem they avoid. In turn, rational individuals are bound to compete with one another, however tacitly, in the attempt to increase their chances of winning esteem and avoiding disesteem. And this competition shapes the environments in which they each pursue esteem, setting relevant comparators and benchmarks, and determining the cost that a person must bear for obtaining a given level of esteem. Hidden in the multifarious interactions and exchanges of social life, then, there is a quiet force at work — a force as silent and powerful as gravity — which molds the basic form of people's relationships and associations. This force was more or less routinely invoked in the writings of classical theorists like Aristotle and Plato, Locke and Montesquieu, Mandeville and Hume and Madison. Although Adam Smith himself gave it great credence, however, the rise of economics proper coincided with a sudden decline in the attention devoted to the economy of esteem. What had been a topic of compelling interest for earlier authors fell into relative neglect throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. This book is designed to reverse the trend. It begins by outlining the psychology of esteem and the way the working of that psychology can give rise to an economy. It then shows how a variety of social patterns that are otherwise anomalous come to make a lot of sense within an economics of esteem. And it looks, finally, at the ways in which the economy of esteem may be reshaped to improve overall social outcomes. While making connections with older patterns of social theorising, it offers a novel orientation for contemporary thought about how society works and how it may be made to work. It puts the economy of esteem firmly on the agenda of economics and social science and of moral and political theory.
