Four life-long friends in their seventies who are discontented with their lives, and are fed up with being broke whilst watching their lives slip away, decide on a life of crime in order to give themselves one last chance of some good times. Ill health haunts them all. They plan to steal sheep, but it isn't as easy as they'd expected. When one of them dies after their first caper, their determination becomes stronger, so they change plans and go into growing cannabis, often with funny results.

John Bull, redundant and depressed sees a jacket in a charity shop window which unbeknown to him has an historical relic in the lining. He's drawn to the jacket but he doesn't know why. Forces from the 15th century have chosen him to return the relic to them, and are manipulating his every move. They chose him for good reason. Back through several previous lives, he had proved himself to be resourceful, brave and capable. The forces have developed a way of transporting someone in time & John finds himself inexplicably interested in regression. His friend Sam tells him that he's mad to be regressed, but he does it anyway. Instead of going back to the 15th century where the forces are waiting for him, he is redirected to his other lovers & lives. He has to drop into his old body in each life, until finally the process is perfected, and he finds himself sitting at a table with one of the greatest men in history. He falls in love with his granddaughter and makes her pregnant after a raunchy night of sex with her

Vinnie Miller is a successful drug importer on the Costa del Sol. He lures his son John into the firm, although he didn't want anything to do with the gang. Due to the hatred John has for Vinnie, he plans the takeover of the business with the help of a gang member. John tracks down his long lost brother, and between the three men, they con Vinnie into believing that a load of cannabis has been seized by the Spanish police. In a fit of anger, Vinnie kills two of his mules, but doesn't tell John what he's done. John perpetuates the illusion that the police are onto them. Vinnie disappears to his villa in Barbados. In a drink and drug binge, he beats up his new Barbadian girlfriend and leaves her scarred for life. With the help of Troy, a local man, John and his brother plan the horrific death of their father. Troy's friend is arrested for another murder and informs on him. Troy informs on the brothers, and the whole thing falls apart when arrests are simultaneously made in Spain and the UK.

Harry returns when told of O'Brian's death at the hands of the Rossi crime family. Harry and Terry (his brother) meet Jack on his return. Whilst at a brothel they're faced by one of O'Brian's gang. Terry kills three of the Rossi gang. Whilst on remand, he is killed by the Rossi's. That starts a vendetta, "Vengeance is Ours" is the mantra as Harry and Jack take revenge.

In connection with the recent treatment of radium and the actinides, the Gmelin Institute is carrying out the description of thorium and its compounds. The Supplement Volumes A 2, A 3, A 4, and A 5 with the history, isotopes, uses, the recovery of thorium and general properties of thorium atom and ions, the thermodynamics of its compounds and solutions, spectroscopic data and analytical chemistry, biological behavior, health protection and safety control have already been published. The Supplement Volumes C 1, C 2 and C 3 describing the compounds with the noble gases, hydrogen, oxygen compounds and nitrogen compounds are also available; also have been published Supplement Volumes C 5 and C 7 describing the compounds with sulfur, selenium, tellurium, and boron, carbonates, thiocynates, alkoxides, and carboxylates. The Supplement Volumes D 1, D 2, and D 3 describing the properties of thorium ions in solution and the solvent extraction of thorium as well as Supplement Volume E describing the coordination compounds also have been published. The present volume begins, in a summary fashion, with a description of the natural occurrence of the element Th. Especially stressed are those facts that are most important in understanding its geological distribution on Earth (as, e.g., mode of occurrence and distribution among minerals) and its behavior in minerals (as, e.g., mode of occurrence and distribution among minerals) and its behavior in minerals (as, e.g., diadochy and metamictization of minerals). Attached is a tabulation of the highest reported Th or ThO2 content in minerals that normally (by their crystal-chemical formula) do not contain Th. The main part of the present volume describes the minerals of Th. As can be seen from the crystal-chemical formulas, there are, in addition to a few minerals containing Th as the sole cation, a number of minerals that contain Th as an additional cation or as a diadochic element. In the case of diadochic substitution the mineral may represent a Th-rich end member of a solid-solution series and, therefore, is described as a separate Th mineral, or may only sporadically contain higher amounts of Th (no mineral description is given). The mineral descriptions, in this volume including oxides, carbonates and phosphates/siliconphosphates of Th, comprise the following topics: occurence; chemistry; crystal form and structure; optical and other physical properties; and chemical and thermal behavior. The silicates of Th and the deposits of Th will be described in the volume "Thorium" Suppl. Vol. A 1b, that also contains a mineral index for both volumes.

He'd returned to Rome having been transported in time by Leonardo Da Vinci. He'd met his friend Suras again for the first time in all those years and had easily fallen into his old life with him. He continued to live as a Roman with all the rough edges of a man born and bred in Essex. The friend that he'd brought with him from the 21st Century had been sent back by Leonardo as a matter of urgency, because he had been badly beaten and was about to die. They have only just decided that the only way that they can find out if Sam survived the journey back, would be to go back themselves to look for him. Suras had never travelled in time before unlike Mustela who is already an old hand at the process. They finally return to Rome with a new friend who is an expert on Roman History. They all meet up with Caeser.

Being an adventurer at heart, Lofty arranges a trip to the mountains in Spain. The area is remote, and rarely sees human visitors. They are livid when they discover where they are going. Simon is shot dead by a rifle shot, and it soon becomes evident that the friends are being hunted. Eastern Europeans have paid a vast sum to hunt human prey. Simon's mobile contains some disturbing news for Lofty, who is an ex marine. He'd benefited from survival training so took the fight to the killers. They were dispatched by various methods. The friends are lost, and stumble across a cannabis farm way up in the mountains. They are captured and held. Lofty develops a bond with the boss of the gang, and is asked to stay. One of the friends dies, and the other is killed by the merciless boss. Lofty is asked to be the eyes and ears of the boss during his absence.
