In 2020, China’s eSports industry led the globe in growth rates; contributing roughly RMB 75.198 billion, it brought considerable new momentum to the national economy. The emergence and spread of an eSports culture embody the richness of subcultural phenomena and the importance of multicultural spaces, while also having a positive effect on people’s competitive spirit, intelligence, aesthetic tastes, etc. However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, China’s eSports industry has faced a host of problems, e.g. postponed competitions, management difficulties and brand devaluation, all of which have hampered its progress. Nevertheless, the number of Chinese eSports users is on the rise and the online market share is climbing steadily, establishing a user base for the industry. Moreover, new technological advances like 5G, VR and AR offer a wealth of new opportunities for innovation in China’s eSports industry. The book encourages readers to approach the topic from various perspectives and think across disciplines. As a result, it is not only essential reading for students at colleges and universities, but also offers a valuable reference guide for eSports researchers and enthusiasts.

This class of herbicides acted as a competitive inhibitor of the pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDHc) to control weeds. The bioreasoning and systematic approach, from basic research to field tests of candidate compounds, are introduced. The basic research covers the molecular design, chemical synthesis, biological activities evaluation, structure-activity relationship analysis and structural optimization. Subsequently, the book reviews the biochemistry of PDHc inhibitors, the selectivity between mammals and plants, and the mechanism of herbicidal activity of novel alkylphosphonates as selective PDHc inhibitors. Field trials for selected alkylphosphonate candidates as herbicides are also included. This book provides a sound basis for the rational design and development of novel herbicides as effective PDHc inhibitors with good enzyme-selective inhibition of plant PDHc between mammals and plants. These studies take full advantages of the low toxicity and low residual impact of selective PHDc inhibitors to design an effective and environmentally friendly herbicide. This book is based on twenty years of research on alkylphosphonates and phosphorus-containing PDHc inhibitors, and demonstrates how to develop these PDHc inhibitors as an effective and “green” herbicide candidate. This book presents a detailed analysis of the Chinese pivotal constructions (PVCs) and their diachronic developments from a constructionalist perspective, with the focus on the growth of the constructional hierarchies of these constructions and the changes with respect to both the form and meaning properties over time. The most important enabling factor behind the diachronic developments of the PVCs has been the sanction of the new instances conflicting with the constructions’ specifications. Throughout history the PVCs have grown along the two dimensions, i.e., inclusiveness and multileveledness, leading to a steady increase in the sizes of their constructional hierarchies. The two-dimensional expansion of the PVCs’ constructional hierarchies has been accompanied by the gradual relaxation of the conditions constraining the earliest instances, on multiple schematicity levels. This book will be valuable to scholars working on diachronic construction grammar and language change as well as to those interested in the history of Chinese language.

The ontology-based approach helps to improve the recall and precision of data and services discovery. Semantics-enabled metadata tracking and satisfaction allows analysts to focus on the generation of a geospatial process model rather than spending large amounts of time in data preparation. “DataType”-driven service composition and path planning can help to automate a range of knowledge discovery processes in a limited geospatial domain. Process planning facilitates the construction of complex services and models for geocomputation. A three-phase procedure to cover the lifecycle of service chaining and to identify the roles of the methods involved is proposed. It includes process modeling, process model instantiation, and workflow execution. The approach is implemented in a prototype system with use cases to demonstrate applicability. The objective of the research is to develop the key technologies for an intelligent geospatial knowledge system based on Web services to automate the data discovery and data preprocessing steps in the distributed Web service environment, to automate a range of knowledge discovery processes in a limited geospatial domain, using the automated construction and execution of service chains, and to facilitate the construction of complex services and models for geocomputation.
