Most of us live in consensus trance - a state of consciousness produced by ideological blunting of our intellect through intensive manipulation (brainwashing), which forces us to accept false conception of reality. And the worst is that we very rarely know if the thoughts in our head are ours or have been skillfully suggested by someone or something else (e.g., subliminals hidden behind music, or flashed on a screen so fast that you don't consciously see them, or cleverly incorporated into a picture). In the entire history of man, no one has ever been brainwashed and realized, or believed, that he had been brainwashed. This book is composed of the articles which present the Big Picture of mass and individual mind control and its various techniques.
The Psychology Express undergraduate revision guide series will help you understand key concepts quickly, revise effectively and make your answers stand out.
The title of this book We Were Not the Savages speaks to the truth of what happened when Europeans invaded Mi’kmaw lands in the 17th century. Prior to the European invasion the Mi’kmaq lived healthy lives and for thousands of years had lived in harmony with nature in the land they called Mi’kma’ki. This book sets the record straight. When the Europeans arrived they were welcomed and sustained by the Mi’kmaq. Over the next three centuries their language, their culture, their way of life were systematically ravaged by the newcomers to whom they had extended human kindness. The murderous savagery of British scalp proclamations, starvation, malnutrition and Canada’s Indian residential and day schools all but wiped out the Mi’kmaq. Yet the Mi’kmaq survived and today stand defending the land, the water and nature’s bounty from the European way of life, which threatens the natural world we live in and need to survive. Since the first edition was published in 1993, Daniel Paul’s ongoing research confronts the mainstream record of Canadian settler colonialism and reveals that the mistreatment of Indigenous Peoples is not confined to the past. In this 4th edition the author shares his research, which catalogues not only the historical tragedy but the ongoing attempts to silence the Mi’kmaq and other Indigenous Peoples. Paul’s work continues to give the Mi’kmaq a voice that must be heard.

Praise for The Cognitive Sciences, Second Edition “I am impressed with the completeness of the text. I have suffered from some tunnel vision thinking that all cognitive science intros needed to be more thematic. The field approach of this one is a refreshing change.” - Kenneth M. Moorman, Transylvania University “You have a winner. It is well organized, cutting edge, theoretical, and substantive, and easy to read. The stories and contextualization of the material for the reader was the biggest strength of this text.” - Thelon Byrd Jr., Bowie State University “The text is clear, organized, and, overall, very well-written. In fact, it has been a pleasure to read. It should be very accessible to undergrads in an introductory cognitive science course, whether majors or not." - Michael R. Scheessele, Indiana University South Bend
World War I is regarded as the first modern war, driven by fearful new technologies of mechanized combat. The unprecedented carnage rapidly advanced military medicine, transforming the nature of wartime caregiving and paving the way for modern nursing practice. Drawing on firsthand accounts of American nurses, as well as their Canadian and British counterparts, historian Paul E. Stepansky describes nurses' encounters with devastating new forms of injury--wounds from high-explosive artillery shells, poison gas burns, "shell shock," the Spanish Flu. Comparing nursing practice on the western front with nursing care during the American Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and the Anglo-Boer War, the author is especially attentive to the emergent technologies employed by nurses of the Great War.

Paul Estabrooks- Living Like A Lamb Among 21st Century Wolves: Balancing Grace and Truth - in a day when the polar opposite world views are endlessly hostile, confrontational and seemingly intent on eliminating each other from public dialogue and discourse of each’s particular views of life, this is a book on how we Christians should respond to our current world dilemmas as well as to each other – with grace and truth! Carefully and skillfully handling Scripture, culture and history, Paul Estabrooks lays out a map for all Christians on how to maintain a grace-filled approach to what are clearly 'wolves intent on Christian destruction and silence’ while sharing the stories of persecuted Christians elsewhere who exemplify being overcomers.

This Element introduces and critically reflects on the contribution of implementation science to healthcare improvement efforts. Grounded in several disciplines, implementation science is the study of strategies to promote the uptake of evidence-based interventions into healthcare practice and policy. The field's focus is threefold. First, it encompasses theory and empirical research focused on exploring, identifying, and understanding the systems, behaviours, and practices that influence successful implementation. Second, it examines the evaluation of strategies to address barriers or enablers to implementation in a given context. Last, it increasingly seeks to understand the process of implementation itself: what actually gets implemented, and when, why, and how? Despite the growing body of evidence, challenges remain. Many important messages remain buried in the literature, and their impact on implementation efforts in routine practice may be limited. The challenge is not just to get evidence into practice, but also to get implementation science into practice. This title is also available as Open Access on Cambridge Core.

Fort William Henry and Fort Phil Kearny were both military outposts of the North American frontier. Both lasted but briefly--about two years from construction until their walls went up in flames. And both saw what were termed "massacres" by Indians outside their walls. This book reexamines the traumatic events at both forts. The Fort William Henry Massacre was condemned by both the British and the French as barbaric. Yet these European powers proved capable of similar crimes. The Fort Phil Kearny defeat, traditionally attributed to Captain William Fetterman's having disobeyed orders, has been scrutinized in recent years. Did the women present at that time write a distorted version of events? It would appear that his second-in-command, the rash Lieutenant George Grummond, led the charge over Lodge Trail Ridge. Or did he?

This book adopts a fresh approach to personal and professional development in healthcare by applying emotional intelligence to a range of clinical and educational contexts..This practical, user-friendly guide engages the reader on both an emotional and a cognitive level, offering an energising way for healthcare professionals to work more effectively as individuals and as part of a team. The activities provided are thought-provoking for personal study and ideal for session planning in larger groups. Emotional Intelligence in Health and Social Care is recommended for all educators and students of medicine, nursing, social care and the Allied Health Professions. When I began my professional training over forty years ago the curriculum paid no attention to the 'stuff' of the 'emotions'. However, when faced with the confusion of real people, and the uncertainty of decision making, I - like everyone else - had to draw on my emotions; feeling my way towards a different kind of knowledge. A book like this might have helped me come to a different understanding of what I needed to do to help myself to coexist with, work alongside and help others. From the Foreword by Phil Barker

We all know we're not supposed to judge books by their covers, but the truth is that we do just that nearly every time we walk into a bookstore or pull a book off a tightly packed shelf. It's really not something we should be ashamed about, for it reinforces something we sincerely believe: design matters. At its best, book cover design is an art that transcends the publisher's commercial imperativesto reflect both an author's ideas and contemporary cultural values in a vital, intelligent, and beautiful way. In this groundbreaking and lavishly illustrated history, authors Ned Drew and Paul Sternberger establish American book cover design as a tradition of sophisticated, visual excellence that has put shape to our literary landscape. By Its Cover traces the story of the American book cover from its inception as a means of utilitarian protection for the book to its current status as an elaborately produced form of communication art. It is, at once, the intertwined story of American graphic design and American literature, and features the work of such legendary figures as Rockwell Kent, E. McKnight Kauffer, Paul Rand, Alvin Lustig, Rudy deHarak, and Roy Kuhlman along with more recent and contemporary innovators including Push Pin Studios, Chermayeff & Geismar, Karen Goldberg, Chip Kidd, and John Gall.

Carrie Buck is little more than an indentured servant in Charlottesville, Virginia, during the early 1900s. So when she gives birth to a daughter out of wedlock, Carrie is institutionalized. She, along with epileptics, prostitutes, criminals, and other “undesirables” are considered deviant and must be sterilized according to a landmark US Supreme Court decision in the 1920s. New York socialite Louisa Van Patten is involved in the eugenics movement that brings about the court’s decision. She is writing a college dissertation on deviants, and Carrie is the primary source for her research. She will not allow Carrie or Ben Newman, a reporter for the New York Times, to change her mind about the validity of such sterilization. Although she is engaged to marry an up-and-coming lawyer with political ambitions, Ben threatens to derail her plans when she realizes she is falling in love with him. As she delves deeper and deeper into her research, she uncovers a dark secret that further complicates her life. That secret, along with Carrie and Ben, send her life and her research spinning off course. It is Carrie who can save Louisa’s life and reset her course if Louisa will allow it. Using, in part, authentic letters and documents from the era, Paula Paul has crafted a mesmerizing fictionalized account of Carrie’s life, her trial, and the Supreme Court decision that eventually influenced actions taken against citizens in Nazi Germany.
