Anthropologists have been appearing as key expert witnesses in native title claims for over 20 years. Until now, however, there has been no theoretically-informed, detailed investigation of how the expert testimony of anthropologists is formed and how it is received by judges. This book examines the structure and habitus of both the field of anthropology and the juridical field and how they have interacted in four cases, including the original hearing in the Mabo case. The analysis of background material has been supplemented by interviews with the key protagonists in each case. This allows the reader a unique, insider's perspective of the courtroom drama that unfolds in each case. The book asks, given the available ethnographic research, how will the anthropologist reconstruct it in a way that is relevant to the legal doctrine of native title when that doctrine gives a wide leeway for interpretation on the critical questions.

The Gnostic revival of the Enlightenment witnessed the erection of what could be called the “Kantian Rift,” an epistemological barrier between external reality and the mind of the percipient. Arbitrarily proclaimed by German philosopher Immanuel Kant, this barrier rendered the world as a terra incognita. Suddenly, the world “out there” was deemed imperceptible and unknowable. In addition to the outer world, the cherished metaphysical certainties of antiquity—the soul, a transcendent order, and God—swiftly evaporated. The way was paved for a new set of modern mythmakers who would populate the world “out there” with their own surrogates for the Divine. Collectively, these surrogates could be referred to as the Beyond because they epistemologically and ontologically overwhelm humanity. In recent years, the Beyond has been invoked by theoreticians, literary figures, intelligence circles, and deep state operatives who share some variant of a technocratic vision for the world. In turn, these mythmakers have either directly or indirectly served elitist interests that have been working toward the establishment of a global government and the creation of a New Man. Their hegemony has been legitimized through the invocation of a wrathful earth goddess, a technological Singularity, a superweapon, and extraterrestrial “gods.” All of these are merely masks for the same counterfeit divinity... the Beyond.

Before the 1960s, the goal of New Testament Textual Criticism was singular: to retrieve the “original text” of the New Testament. Since then, the goalpost has incrementally shifted away from the “original text” to retrieving “any text” or “many texts” of the NT. Some scholars have even concluded that the “original text” is hopelessly lost and cannot be retrieved with any confidence or accuracy. Other scholars have gone a step further to claim that the idea of an “original text” itself is a misconception that needs to be abandoned. If this new approach in NTTC is correct, then the authority of Scripture is weakened or no longer valid. It will be shown in this book that such is not the case. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on the need to return to the traditional goalpost of NTTC, i.e., to retrieve the original text. Without a generally definitive text, the door will be left wide open to recreate any desired text of the NT. An unsettled original text will result in an unsettled biblical theology due to a lack of any authoritative and standard text. Consequently, it will lead to an unsettled Christian faith and practice.

Although the death was investigated by the police, and accidental death was the verdict, there has always been a suspicion hanging over Eliot, who was present on the day his grandfather died in the cellar of the infamous Werdenburg castle. Evie invites Eliot to look into her background, having wondered what secrets her parents were keeping from her. Eliot complies and goes to Reichenau with Evie to look up her family history. They discover that her parents are not her real family, and that Evie is in fact Jewish of a mother who died in the Holocaust, and a father with whom may have had association with Hitler’s war machine. This discovery seemingly - changes everything. Gustav has his own demons to deal with and the police chief, Ernst Weber, who had first been on the scene when grandfather Dean died, finds out that Gustav also has a dubious past, and further investigations reveal that grandfather Dean may have discovered the secret past of his then good friend Gustav Schaefer. To which leaves Ernst Weber with a possible motive for murder. Driven by desire and the ensuing circumstances, with which he finds himself, and a worsening health condition, Eliot realizes things are spiraling out of control and things take a further sinister turn when his wife, Sandra, discovers the affair that her husband refuses to relinquish. With Eliot now suffering from pressures at work, the ensuing difficult situation between himself and Evie, and signs of schizophrenia - can he possibly find an answer to his problems or better still, a way out?
