His insights and the humorous incidences that they encounter make for an irreverent tour guide for traveling abroad. Having survived several cancer operations, hepatitis C, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, dozens of kidney stones, and more than a dozen other surgeries and diseases, he calls himself, Gods lab rat. His latest cancers led his granddaughter to ask her mother, How come nothing ever kills granddad?

Kevin Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of Chicago National Bank, discovers a series of unusual activities at the bank, which he suspects is money laundering. He reports his findings to the Chicago office of the FBI and begins to work with Karen Robbins, one of their most experienced agents in financial crimes. Robbins, a computer expert, follows the money trail from Chicago National Bank through the Cayman Islands to accounts in London, Zurich, and Riyadh. John Andrews, a Chicago businessman, suddenly throws Chicago National into turmoil with a hostile takeover attempt of the bank. As personal pressure closes in on Andrews, he significantly raises the price of his tender offer. Research into Andrews background leads Sullivan to suspect that Andrews might have a violent and criminal history. Robbins traces the source of the money laundering to Chicagos Russian Mafia. Her investigation of the money trail in Europe and the Middle East catches the attention of The FBI Counterterrorism unit in Washington, D.C. and they begin to take an active interest in the case. Against this background, threats have been set into motion which will enable people with deeply rooted hatreds to finally turn those hatreds into revenge. Robbins must find and stop the Mafia boss who left Russia years ago before these threats are realized. With very little time left before disaster strikes, powerful government forces in Washington, London, and Moscow work together to assist Robbins. Unexpected help comes from an old scientist in Vienna who has waited for sixty years to find a way to repay America and its allies for releasing him from Mauthausen concentration camp.

Tim Shannon and his team of his twin brother Jim, plus John Murphy, and a couple of new players undertake their new assignment with their usual expertise and foreign contacts. But the clock is running down to identify, fi nd, and arrest the men behind the greatest terrorist threat in history against the United States, and destroy the plan and its operatives before they can carry it out.

Saint Peter narrates a story that begins when God stops by the Pearly Gates and says, "I'm thinking of getting a dog." He asks Saint Peter for his opinionas towhether He should create the perfect dog from scratch or go over to Doggy Heaven to select one. Saint Peter suggests that God consider Mozart,a dachshundthat Saint Peter has been watching and considers to be the funniest dog he has everseen on earth. Mozart arrives in Heaven within the month and interviews with God to become His dog. Mozart's humor and total candor win God over and God asks Mozart if he would like to be His dog. Mozart asks that it be a package deal and that his younger brother, Elvis, who had died suddenly only a few days before Mozart, be allowed to stay as well. God says that Elvis can be Saint Peter's dog and help guard the Pearly Gates. Mozart and Elvis spendtheir time exploring Heaven, talking withsaints,visiting God's Comedy Club, and searching for their roots and heroes. The best conversations are betwen God and Mozart, in which Mozart never runs out of questions and topics to discuss with God. Mozart and Elvis decide Heaven is really a wonderful place, but could be a little more dachshund friendly. Together they come up with the firstsuggestion list that God has ever received. These and other suggestions lead to what Saint Peter describes as the biggest change in Heaven since the addition of the Pearly gates. The ending is one that the reader will never forget. Filled with humor and poignant moments, GOD GETS A DOG will be enjoyed by everyone who loves God, likes dogs, and enjoys one of God's greatest gifts to humanity, our sense of humor.
