In recent years, controversy has surrounded the role of top government lawyers in the United States and the United Kingdom. Allegations of bad lawyering and bad ethics in public office over the ’torture memos’ in the United States and the political pressure placed on the Attorney-General in the United Kingdom to approve the legality of the Iraq war, have seen these relatively obscure group of government lawyers thrust into the public debate. Unlike its Anglo-American contemporaries, Australia’s chief legal adviser, the Solicitor-General, has remained largely out of the public eye. This collection provides a rare and overdue insight into a fundamental public institution in all Australian jurisdictions. It provides a historical, theoretical, practical and comparative perspective of this little known, but vitally important, office at a time when the transparency and accountability of government has taken on an increased significance. Of interest to anyone interested in the integrity of government, the book will be particularly useful to government, political parties and the academy. Nicht selten begrüßt Christian daher weniger als ein dutzend Menschen zum Gottesdienst, was nicht nur an seiner Zufriedenheit nagt, sondern auch Gedanken über eine Zusammenlegung zweier Gemeinden weckt. In diesem Fall würde Christian sehr wahrscheinlich versetzt werden, was ein Problem darstellt, denn mehr noch als den lieben Gott liebt er seine heimliche Freundin Maren - die nicht bereit wäre, Wohnort und Job für eine ungewisse Zukunft zu opfern.Als Christian seiner heimlichen Verehrerin, der Rentnerin Edith, sein Leid klagt, erzählt sie ihm von einer Gemeinde, der es gelungen sein soll, mit Hilfe von Werbung ihre Kirche wieder zu füllen. Der Pfarrer reagiert zunächst skeptisch auf den Vorschlag, aber ihm wird schnell klar, dass er zu ungewöhnlichen Mitteln greifen muss, wenn er die Jugend erreichen und seine Kirche retten will. Also beauftragt er den kreativen, aber egozentrischen und bis dato eher erfolglosen PR-Berater Markus Schlächter zunächst mit dem Entwurf eines simplen Flyers - und tatsächlich kann Christian beim folgenden Gottesdienst mehrere neue und vor allem junge Gläubige begrüßen.Während Edith damit zufrieden zu sein scheint, hat Christian Blut geleckt und bittet Markus um eine Ausweitung der Werbekampagne. Markus erkennt langsam das Potential, das darin steckt, Werbung für eine Kirche zu machen, und bietet Christian seine kostenlose Unterstützung an - unter der Voraussetzung, dass der ihm freie Hand lässt. Und damit nimmt das Schicksal seinen Lauf...

This book describes the design of fully digital multistandard transmitter front-ends which can directly drive one or more switching power amplifiers, thus eliminating all other analog components. After reviewing different architectures, the authors focus on polar architectures using pulse width modulation (PWM), which are entirely based on unclocked delay lines and other continuous-time digital hardware. As a result, readers are enabled to shift accuracy concerns from the voltage domain to the time domain, to coincide with submicron CMOS technology scaling. The authors present different architectural options and compare them, based on their effect on the signal and spectrum quality. Next, a high-level theoretical analysis of two different PWM-based architectures – baseband PWM and RF PWM – is made. On the circuit level, traditional digital components and design techniques are revisited from the point of view of continuous-time digital circuits. Important design criteria are identified and different solutions are presented, along with their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, two chips designed in nanometer CMOS technologies are described, along with measurement results for validation.
