Wall Street Journal Bestseller Publishers Weekly Bestseller Patrick Hinds has failed. A lot. In fact, he’s kind of an expert at it—which is why he’s uniquely qualified to say that failure is a good thing. On paper, the chubby, poor, gay son of a lesbian who wrote pornographic letters to Jesus isn’t the person that you think of when you hear the word “success.” Yet Patrick Hinds has somehow managed to bungle his way through to become the successful co-host of True Crime Obsessed—a podcast with more than 200 million downloads. Before that, though, he failed at many, many things. Patrick’s life is a series of fiascos, missteps, and just plain bad ideas. An eternal optimist, he’s always thrown himself into everything he’s done, even when he probably shouldn’t have. He devoted himself to becoming an actor even though he was terrible, started a daycare even though he hated kids, and somehow had a disastrous time with Bea Arthur . . . even though he couldn’t be gayer. Both heartfelt and hilarious, Failure Is Not Not an Option lets Patrick’s signature storytelling style shine—and it’s also the only book to bravely and definitively declare: 1: Failing simply means that you tried (and if you try enough, eventually success will be an option, too). 2: Ted Bundy is. Not. Hot. By trying, and yes, failing at so many things, Patrick finally found his way—to a great career, a great husband, and a great family. Along the way, there were hurdles to jump, unexpected surprises, and no shortage of laughter. Failure is Not NOT an Option is a fun and outrageous read that will raise you up—and provide a soft landing pad for the next time you fall.

In book 2 of the series, the author picks up where book one left off and continues with what took place in the fall of 2015 and the beginnings of yet another investigation. It describes in detail the strange events that occurred during that 2015 season, and reviews yet another awful, inaccurate and mean-spirited newspaper article from the Seattle Times the night before the seniors’ final game for the state championship. The author then meticulously goes through the first 55 pages of the 68-page investigation report prepared by two former federal prosecutors and provides critique and background and inside knowledge and documents that disprove so much of what was written in that ridiculous and damaging 68-page investigative report. The author provides documentary proof and evidence showing the Seattle Times “Wooing” article of December 2015 and the WIAA 68-page report for what they were. Writings that utilized a poor factual base and ignored evidence in support of BHS football. Writings that made incorrect assumptions, and then built their stories on top of those inaccurate assumptions. Book 2 of the series dismantles the false list of “42 transfers to Bellevue High School from 2008 to 2015” and exposes that the lead prosecutor had an undisclosed material conflict of interest from his days as a federal prosecutor with the convicted felon who the prosecutor had indicted. This felon was their key witness during the investigation as well as a parent at the high school in question. The author's extensive use of cites providing proof of his assertions is incredibly helpful to the reader. Additionally, the author provides many interesting quotes for each chapter which are cleverly connected to the subject matter of that particular chapter. This feature is quite interesting and adds a very compelling and insightful aspect to the book. The author references many of his former players in the book who played, or are still playing football in the NFL such as Stephen Schilling, Budda Baker, David DeCastro, Myles Jack, Jake Eldrenkamp and Marcus Henry. A very informative foreword was provided by Oregon State University football coach Kendrick Van Ackeren who also previously played for the author. Book 2 culminates with a searing retort of the inaccurate and at times simply false information presented in the report and shows in detail how the WIAA 68-page report was literally built on a foundation of sand and was particularly focused on black families who resided in Bellevue"--Amazon.com.
