Matthew's dream was not uncommon. The plan was to get out of Sydney and settle down in the small country town of Temora NSW. His dream was to eventually buy a little farm, start his career as a high school teacher in a small town, and have a family. A simple plan you would think. Matthew lasted in Temora for just 6 months. Patricia's memoir reveals the untold stories from Temora. Using a collection of family and friends' recollections, as well as witness statements and official reports, we learn the power of four young girls and a closed minded community, a common attitude of guilty until proven innocent, the blinded eyes of those who are supposed to help and how a young man's life can be ruined in a split second.

One hot July day, on a return trip home from New Orleans, Trish Dunaway received a call from Mercer University police: Call your mother. As the minutes raced by, she learned the tragic news: her ninety-three-year-old mother had been instantly killed in a traffic accident. Her mothers story is a remarkable one: growing up in the 1920s in the Charleston, South Carolina Orphan House, losing her husband to cancer as a young married woman, and growing into a much-loved and honored prayer warrior. Trish gave herself a year to journal her grief. Through prayer, the ministry of the saints, journaling and poetry, Scripture, and memories of her Low Country heritage, she learned to choose Gods comfort He offered through a walk into His mercy and grace. She shares her journey during the year following her mothers death as she learns how God teaches us to listen for His comfort in the face of despair.
Growing up in Hugo, Oklahoma, a small rural community in southeast Oklahoma, there was always a Sunday program or some kind of event going on at the church; anniversaries, special days, revivals, musicals, funerals, etc. In the Afro-American community, we looked forward to having dinner on the grounds, and often staying at church all day. Anytime there were programs and special occasions that were occurring, a welcome had to be said to welcome visitors and guests, or if invited to other churches, a response had to be given in thanks of their invitation. My Mama, wrote numerous addresses for these special days. She was an outstanding writer, orator, missionary, fourth grade school teacher, and the best of moms. This book was written to show off my mothers writing abilities, and more so to give others the opportunity to see how these presentations should be written for their upcoming times of needs. For all readers of this book, May God bless you.
