Joy is hoped for, wished for, prayed for, sought for, fought for. It is missing, wanted, needed. It is attainable. It is not an elusive dream or a someday. It is a now. Oh Da Joy is a series of short life lessons. Each focuses on a different aspect of living joyfully. Each lesson was learned through an event or events in my life and in the lives of those I know. Some have been lessons of heart-rending loss, while others still bring that laugh out loud even after years. All have brought a way to live a joyful life. The book is presented as a conversation instead of a thesis. This isn't a scholarly book of research, as important as those are. It's a discussion with my readers, not presented with fancy words, but with my heart. For in the end, it is with the reader's heart that they will find the way to live in joy.

“Pat’s Patch” is a collection of poems and literary anecdotes created for children and adults . The creations reflect observations of the author and sights or creatures she has encountered along the path of life. Some of the characters that enhance the writings have been very much alive companions from the time the author was able to insinuate herself into Mama Pig’s bed for herself and her brood of piglets to today’s life with Lily—“The Chihuahua who controls our lives.” Pat says her aim in writing these works “was to bring pleasure to today’s children and adults in the same way ‘A Child’s Garden of Verses’ brought me so much joy—first when it was read to me and later when I could read and recite the words myself. “ Curl up.....read...enjoy!!

Movie Theaters of Washington, DC charts the storied history of motion picture exhibition in the nation's capital. In 1894, entertainment venues were repurposed to show newfangled moving images and continued to do so through the downtown heyday of such 1920s baroque movie palaces as the 3,400-seat Fox. In the late 20th century, shoebox theaters dotted the nearby suburbs. In a landscape that has transformed over the decades, majestic landmarks, such as the Uptown, which opened in 1936, remain and are still going strong, and theaters like the Warner survived the dark days of downtown's commercial decline to be repurposed as thriving stage venues. While certain favorites have fallen to the wrecking ball, the Washington area has seen, along with a rejuvenated downtown, a vibrant movie scene for both mainstream blockbusters and art house fare with the Regal Gallery Place multiplex and more new theaters to come.
