In this novel the author describes the homes and lives of two friends, Fatemeh and Mina, who were born and raised by two distinctive families. Fatemeh's dysfunctional and misguided father disliked her and was abusive to her and her mother. Mina was raised in a stable and religious family. The author demonstrates how the events, including religion, customs, tradition and the culture of man's dominance, affected the lives of these two friends. Happy and sad days, murder, trial, and a touch of suspense makes this novel interesting and worthy of reading.
This book reveals an inside view of the complex history and culture of Iran and how the events have affected the thinking and behavior of its people.
