The course 'Extension Methodologies for Transfer of Agricultural Technology' has been introduced recently at undergraduate level in the faculty of agriculture in all agricultural universities in India. We are very happy to let our readers know that the book has been planned to cover the contents of this course in the new curriculum so that this can serve as a text book for the UG agricultural students. This could also be used as reference book by students at post graduate level in agricultural universities as well as the students in traditional universities under-going courses on extension education.
The course entitled 'Entrepreneurship Development and Communication Skills' has been introduced in the course curriculum of agricultural universities in India on the recommendation of Fourth Deans Committee. The book contains important aspects of Entrepreneurship Development and required communication skills leading to building the required capability of entrepreneurs in the learner. This book is planned to serve as a textbook at undergraduate level for students of agriculture and allied subjects such as horticulture, home science, animal sciences, etc. This could also be used as reference book by students at postgraduate level in agricultural universities in particular and non-agricultural universities in general. Further, it may act as a guide to functional entrepreneurs to inculcate in them the good qualities required for successful entrepreneurship.
This book provides a detailed examination of the compound crisis between India and Pakistan that brought the region to the brink of a nuclear war in 1990. Placing the crisis in the context of concurrent international events such as the fall of the Soviet Union, the authors draw out the lesson for present-day South Asian affairs. India and Pakistan, nuclear neighbors and rivals, fought the last of three major wars in 1971. Far from peaceful, however, the period since then has been "one long crisis, punctuated by periods of peace." The long-disputed Kashmir issue continues to be both a cause and consequence of India-Pakistan hostility. Looking for larger trends of peace and conflict in the region, the authors consider these incidents as cases of attempted conflict resolution, as instances of limited war by nuclear-armed nations, and as examples of intervention and engagement by the United States and China. They analyze the reactions of Indian, Pakistani, and international media and assess the two countries' decision-making processes.
