“Oh, yes,” a retired NVA officer matter-of-factly declared to former U.S. Marine Otto J. Lehrack. “In the Que Son Valley in 1967, we killed more Americans than at any time or place during the war.” Road of 10,000 Pains, which takes its name from The Iliad, is an epic oral history of Vietnam's bloodiest campaign, fought for seven months in a series of battles, most within four miles of each other, along Route 534. In October 1967, orders came down to the 2nd North Vietnamese Army Division commanding them to join with local Viet Cong units and seize the city of Da Nang in the coming Tet Offensive. When the time came, the division was so battered from its seven-month campaign in the Que Son Valley that it failed to carry out its mission. Only one platoon was to make it inside the city limits of Da Nang. Had it not been for the violent struggles in the valley, Da Nang may have suffered the same fate as the city of Hue.

Through projects that actively work towards disarming the violent practices of dress, Von Busch suggests paths towards a more engaging and meaningful experience of fashion he calls “deep fashion.”

This book is a collection of poems and short stories of how the writings came about, stories of the younger years growing up somewhat a rebel, confused about all the rules of the Amish Mennonite churches I attended, and about what worldly meant. I began writing between my two cancer operations. I had just written my thirty-third piece called “Lost Jesus” and thought, Jesus died on the cross around the age of thirty-three. I titled my book not knowing what was to come. My writing began to broaden into other subjects of this book is in about a five-year span and a lot of things changed. I always thought my life was different from others but finding out we are the same. So, if just one person is touched by something I have written, it was worth it. My prayer to all that read my writings is that you will be encouraged to serve the Lord, because sometimes he may be all you have. But rest assured, Jesus is all you’ll ever need.

The medical record is the single, tangible tool that can be used to accurately access reflect the quality of medical care rendered to patients in a hospital. Judgment of the medical record should be made only by qualified members of the Medical Staff, who serve on its reviewing committees; Medical Record, Medical Audit, and Tissue. In addition, the medical record should serve as a scientific teaching tool in the education of interns and residents, as well as in the continuing education of practicing physicians. to ensure quantitative and qualitative completeness of the medical record, the medical staff of the Barberton Citizens Hospital has set forth, in its Rules and Regulations, policies governing these records. the responsibilities of the attending and house physician are made explicit. the reviewing committees are obliged to insure adherence to these policies. the medical record librarian and her staff, upon receipt of the chart from the floor, "grade" it for clerical deficiencies. Factors, such as the quantity of progress notes, presence or lack of consultation notes, completeness of history or physical examination should not be left to the discretion of the medical record department personnel. Such elements are only to be judged by physicians. However, in instances of obvious deficiency, the medical record librarian should seek the opinion of the chairman of the Medical Record Committee. He should then decide what steps, if any, should be taken. the policies concerning Medical Records in the Rules and Regulations are set before the Medical Staff; they need only be followed to produce good records that are a true picture of the care being rendered. However, it must be re-emphasized that the ultimate responsibility for providing a good medical record rests with the physician of record. Members of the house staff, nursing service, and many other paramedical personnel assist him in the care of his patient; nevertheless, it is he who must authenticate the accurate recording of this care.

Originally published in 1965. The Supreme Court's momentous school desegregation decision of 1954 was a postmortem victory for Albion Tourgée. Just fifty-eight years earlier this once-famous carpetbagger's attack on segregation was crushed in the case of Plessy v. Ferguson. His legal defeat in 1896 typified his frustrated but prophetic career. Tourgée was an idealistic Union veteran who ventured south in 1865. As an advocate of civil rights, political equality, free schools, and penal reform, he was elected to North Carolina's Constitutional Convention of 1868. Olsen records both the fierce struggles and the impressive accomplishments that filled Tourgée's fourteen years in the South. With the collapse of the Southern experiment, Tourgée was inspired to turn to fiction to express his convictions. A Fool's Errand by One of the Fools and Bricks without Straw were classics of their day, providing absorbing accounts and defenses of radical Reconstruction. In 1879 Tourgée went north, where he renewed and extended his crusade for Negro equality by writing, lecturing, and lobbying. For many years he was the most militant and persistent advocate of racial equality in the nation. He was also a vigorous critic of the industrial age, demanding the utilization of federal power in behalf of equality, democracy, and economic justice.

More than 2,300 Maryland inmates were serving a life sentence in 2008. Nearly 77% of those inmates are African Americans, making Maryland the state with the largest share of black prisoners serving life sentences. Among the 269 prisoners in Maryland sentenced to life for crimes committed when they were juveniles, 226 are black. The only thing Mary about this land was bloody Mary, but dont get it confused with the alcoholic beverage, Maryland-Murdaland. This is my story, welcome to THE CAPITAL OF MARYLAND.
