This is the story of four young Army nurses and their adventures during World War II. From the time they enlisted until they were separated from the service, Janie, Orpha Mae, Helen, and Jo remained the best of friends as they served their country. During their tour of duty they were miraculously assigned to be together each time new orders were cut. Their travels include service in New England, North Africa, and even a stint at sea aboard the Charles A Stafford, a hospital ship on which they logged almost 94,000 miles.
