This true story being told happened in New England between 1912 and 1948. Many interesting things happened in this time period: Two World Wars, a major depression and the consequences of these events. The stories of these times as recalled from the memory of Norma are not in great detail, but come together to show how life and times affect one's destiny. Small incidences in the area of religion seem to start out and come to the front of the story. The detailed conclusion of the story pulls everything together in a way that shows a probable design which can only be seen as time permits. An interesting part of the story is the contrast between the life of a grandmother and the life of grandchildren who seem to live in a different world. And so, destinies are still taking shape.
Transcendental Train Yard is a collection of color serigraphs accompanied by bilingual poems, in Spanish and English, inspired by the artwork. Transcendental Train Yard provides the reader a glimpse of the role the railroad and the carpas (itinerant vaudeville troupes) played in the Mexican American community. Artist Marta Sanchez and poet Norma Elia Cantú collaboratively render images and words that poignantly reflect specific periods in that history.
This lighthearted, fast-paced memoir chronicles Norma's twenty-four years as the host and producer of KRTV's award-winning Today in Montana show, the longest running locally produced program in Montana television history. This anecdotal history begins in 1962 in a Quonset hut and ends in a million-dollar building. Featuring nearly one hundred photographs, Movie Stars and Rattlesnakes takes the reader on a journey that starts with Norma's first frightening minutes in front of the camera and details her unique experiences, including a fire on the set, an interview in the old Montana State Prison, and an encounter with a twelve-foot python.

Dreamspeak is a fast-paced mystery novel with psychic overtones and a hint of romance. Cassie Alexander is a recent widow who fears a recurring dream, just as she has feared all the past dreams. Still mourning the loss of her husband, she struggles to return to a normal life when she is called to jury duty. Belief in her psychic abilities is difficult to deny, as the eerie, wintry dream plagues her sleep night after night. Cassie's eighteen-year-old daughter, Libby, still on an emotional roller-coaster from her father's sudden death, rebels against her mother's protective nature. Libby's new relationship with Nick lures her into the dangerous world he inhabits. Once chosen for the jury, Cassie meets Ross Fairchild, a high-living, self-made millionaire who's stuck in a cold, distant marriage. They develop a guarded friendship and when he learns of her psychic abilities, he encourages her to trust her dreams. Scenes in the jury room show Cassie interacting with the remaining cast of characters that make up the jury. Franklin, the man in white, quotes scripture to Cassie. With her strict religious upbringing, she knows the verses, particularly those regarding biblical prophets, often laid on her by her father when she was a child with dreams. She understands Franklin's implied threats and fears for her life. As the deliberations conclude, Cassie is convinced this group of twelve has made a wrong decision. She enlists Ross' help in pursuing the truth. Libby, meanwhile, is drawn into a secret getaway with Nick, which turns into a terrifying night. Cassie senses the danger to her daughter as signs from the dream finally come together. The fast-paced conclusion brings Cassie to the realization that her dreams are not to be ignored. Dreamspeak appeals to our universal interest in the paranormal mind and its possibilities. Cassie's future lies in her dreams. My thanks go to friend and photographer, Kay Botel, for her help with the cover for this novel. I am grateful to my critique groups in AZ and IL, who have read and improved much of the manuscript. Family and friends have supported me in my efforts to put good stories to paper. My husband, Jim, puts up with my hours of computer time and patiently listens to new ideas.

The 1700-1800’s was a period of drastic change for those that immigrated to the U.S. from their own homelands. Leaving family members behind for a long and bold migration trip was often out of desperation. They were willing to face overwhelming challenges and risks for successfully paving the way for you and me today. My families came to America to seek refuge from Ireland and England with inspired optimism driven by a dream to own their own land and to seek independent liberty and freedom. They saw potential in trying new adventures and to accept new things. The journeys were difficult and dangerous for the people and the animals. They pushed boundaries to advance a cause and had determination in succeeding by overcoming those great challenges. I want to preserve what my ancestors did for me and continue their good morals and faith. I’m curious about where my ancestors came from and the origin of “Love”, my last name. I know family ties and morals from good wholesome stock led me as I grew up. But change happens, so it is up to me to preserve what my life was like and accept the “new” changes that comes. But as I approach the winter of my life, I find it has caught me by surprise that I’m in it. How did it get here so fast? Where did the years go? It seems like yesterday that I was young. But by reminiscing my memories through people I knew, old snapshots, newspaper clippings and stories told, I feel the joy in being just a little younger by writing my life for you. I hope you can relate. P.S. This is a follow-up story to my first book “Four Generations on the Love Farm”. I want my children to know the impact families have by knowing one another. They were important to me. Today, distance interferes with that, and I wanted my children to realize they also came from good wholesome stock.

Chapter 137. Main steps of skeletal muscle development in the human: Morphological analysis and ultrastructural characteristics of developing human muscle
During embryogenesis, paraxial mesoderm undergoes segmentation into somites, progressing from head to tail. Somites differentiate into dermomyotomes, then into dermatomes and myotomes. Some head muscles derive from the anterior paraxial and precordal mesoderm. Between 10 and 13 weeks of gestation, the fusion of myoblasts generates primary myotubes with central nuclei, and the latter form the second generation of myotubes which requires active innervation. Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide dehydrogenase-tetrazolium reductase appears before succinate dehydrogenase, and ATPase shows an intermediary activity. β-Sarcoglycan appears by 7 gestational weeks and α-sarcoglycan by 10–12 weeks. β-Spectrin, dystrophin, and utrophin appear by 9 weeks, vimentin and desmin appear by 10 weeks and stain strongly between 10 and 15 weeks. Slow, embryonic myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoenzymes appear before 15 weeks, whereas fetal fast MCH occur later (15–18 weeks). Myotubes become myofibers with peripheral nuclei between 15 and 18 weeks. Large muscle fibers (Wohlfart B) are visible by 20–21 weeks, Wohlfart A by 21–25 weeks. Perimysium surrounds compacted and grouped fibers by 24 weeks, and utrophin disappears, whereas dystrophin stains intensely. At 29 weeks, type I fibers are visible, and by 31–33 weeks they are mature for ATPase staining. Three types of type II fibers can be seen. Vimentin disappears between 15 and 30 weeks, while desmin remains weakly positive at birth.

Do you want to lose weight fast while getting healthy? All the diets you have tried seem useless? If your answer to these questions is yes, then this is the right book for you! Hypnosis is something we usually consider as a kind of entertainment. Still, hypnosis for weight-loss offers people a reasonably simple out of their weight problem, by stopping their yearnings for food at the source. Hypnosis is the technique through which you allow the part of your brain in charge of your subconscious to dominate your thought process. Hypnosis makes you very susceptible to suggestions and influence, and since you are suppressing the part of your brain that dictates logic, you can suspend your current beliefs about what you can do. This technique allows the hypnotherapist to make suggestions, make suppressed memories to resurface or even help you change your behavior about eating habits and motivation. You suspend your beliefs for a moment and then enjoy the possibilities that are presented to you. This book covers the following topics: What is hypnosis? Reprogramming starting from the mind How to use hypnosis to eliminate food addictions Keep motivation high The power of affirmations Love yourself always ... And much more! Obviously, under hypnosis, you still have complete free will to believe or do anything-you can choose whether you want to resist an order or a suggestion that is offered to you. If you choose not to participate in hypnosis, there is nothing that a hypnotist can do to make you do an action or think something. Ready to start your journey towards a better and healthier you? Letters from Alaska Someone has commented that the Bartoo family is made of people who are highly literate, adventurous, and in love with the outdoors and animals. From the articles in this collection, I think any reader will agree with that. In their 30 to 40 years of living in Alaska, my mom and dad wrote many things to describe what their life was like. Some were letters written to family and friends, some were trapping logs, some were just personal accounts of activities on hunting trips and other travels, often written strictly for their own enjoyment. My mother and dad were over 50 when they moved to Alaska, and started a new life there. From my mothers letters over the years, she tells all about their life in Alaska in the 20th century. She makes the stories of their experiences come alive: hunting for moose, goats, or caribou; then fishing for salmon and halibut, and how they lost the Salmon Derby; and their fur trapping of mink, martin, etc. The perennial question folks ask, Whats it like to live in Alaska? Mom answers from her viewpoint, both in showing details of daily routines of growing flowers while weeding and feeding mosquitoes, as well as how to prepare for spending weeks or months at a time in the bush on their annual trapping trip.
Glimpses of Oneida Life is a remarkable compilation of modern stories of community life at the Oneida Nation of the Thames Settlement and the surrounding area. With topics ranging from work experiences and Oneida customs to pranks, humorous encounters, and ghost stories, these fifty-two unscripted narrations and conversations in Oneida represent a rare collection of first-hand Iroquoian reflections on aspects of daily life and culture not found in print elsewhere. Each text is presented in Oneida with both an interlinear, word-by-word translation and a more colloquial translation in English. The book also contains a grammatical sketch of the Oneida language by Karin Michelson, co-author of the Oneida-English/English-Oneida Dictionary, that describes how words are structured and combined into larger linguistic structures, thus allowing Glimpses to be used as a teaching text as well. The engrossing tales in Glimpses of Oneida Life will be a valuable resource for linguists and language learners, a useful source for those studying the history and culture of Iroquois people in the twentieth-century, and an entertaining read for anyone interested in everyday First Nations life in southern Ontario.
From tall tales, trickster tales, and noodlehead stories to hoaxes, urban legends, riddles and songs-here are more than 70 stories from around the world and across the centuries that you can pull out of your story bag at a moment's notice-to read aloud or re-tell before, between and after daily activities; or integrate into lessons and learning opportunities. Most take just minutes to read. The country or culture of origin is noted for each story, and there is a detailed bibliography, introductory notes on humor and folklore, and a discussion of the healing power of humor.
Published in 1998, the book provides a useful contribution to current debates on social exclusion, the regeneration of communities and the refocusing of crisis driven child protection services to family support and the prevention of harm. It stresses the need for interagency strategies of: - neighbourhood and family support - action with young people for a safer environment - principles of partnership with communities - positive action to build on the strengths of families and communities, drawing on their own resources and expertise The detailed account of work to develop such strategies in one neighbourhood will be of value to policy makers, managers and practitioners. The book gives an overview of conditions associated with harm and abuse of children and approaches which can be successful in preventing harm. It documents experience and views of parents - mainly mothers - attempting to bring up their children in health and safety in a severely disadvantaged area. It argues for practical recognition of the links between disadvantage and individual harm, and the need for community development approaches to improve the life chances of children and families.
